The Mormons (LDS) always have commercials on television, but I only tend to see them if I'm for some reason watching TV between 2 and 7 am, which is rare. Did someone say that yes, the Watchtower did used to have commercials like this or something? Someone asked about it and it was pulled or something?

Back after 3 months
by greendawn inhi and wishing you all a happy new year though somewhat belatedly.
i am glad to be back after 3 months, i had no internet connection for most of that time, but as from yesterday i have one at home, and i see that most of the familiar names, as well as some new ones, are still posting here.
all is going well there is a lot of work, i acquired a powerful network of friends, lost a lot of weight since last june 20kg (44lb) to be exact, and i moved into a new better home.

by Lady Lee ini picked this book up yesterday while i was waiting for the clinic to open.. i haven't read it yet of course but it asks some interesting questions.
the auther says there are 5 warning signs of corruption in religion.
the back cover states that kimball is a leading relibgion and middle east expert.

I'll have to look it up on amazon or something. By the way, speaking of attention spans, I have noticed that over the past couple of years, mine has gone downhill extremely when I try to read. I am so young, so I don't know what's going on, but I have to read the same thing over and over again before it sinks in. (sorry, i know it's off topic)

Yeah, Calico, he's sounding that way to me, too, now. I guess I needed (or wanted) some other people to point it out to me, though. By the way, I didn't know that "incest" doesn't exactly apply to this situation. I'm not still totally clear on the formal definition, because different resources I have used to look it up have had varying definitions. But the reason I used the word "incest" mainly is because that's the term that he used to describe it. So hopefully I haven't offended anyone.

Wow... these GB people (and JWs in general) are SUPER paranoid. Just when I think I've heard it all, it never fails to surprise me. Something new and strange always comes up, just when I think I couldn't possibly hear anything else weird about the Watchtower.

bisous, you're right, I am extremely disappointed. I guess maybe I was on here looking for someone to tell me it's all going to be okay, and that if I just ask him to not speak with her and follow his own rules or something, it'll be fine. But clearly that's not the general consensus. I do have my own insecurity issues, but whoever said he's making them worse is right. I think I need some counseling of my own, too... not that I'm a crazy or anything, but you know, I can be insecure. onlycurious, you're right... even if he WAS coerced into it, it doesn't say much about his character that he allowed himself to be coerced and kept going back for more and putting himself in the same situation for years on end when there was no real threat. Sorry I am not separating these responses into paragraphs but it's not working for me to do that tonight, don't know why.

reneeisorym, sorry to hear that about your relationship! I really value your opinion, though, considering you have been in a similar situation. You definitely seem to think it's a good idea for me to get out and it seems pretty urgent... as do a lot of the rest of you. JeffT, that is really scary stuff! The warning bells are definitely sounding. That is REALLY scary stuff. Thanks for the research MsMcDuckett and avishai. You're right, MsMcDuckett, I am being so naive. I mean, there's a possibility it could still be going on, or at least a lot more recently than he says, but I have been dumb, just believing only what I want to believe.

Looking for graph showing % of degree qualified followers by religion.
by jwfacts inthere was a graph on jwd about a year ago with the % of followers with a university education.
it had jews as one of the most educated groups.
and jws as one of the least educated.

I remember seeing a chart like this with how much money is earned by the different groups as well. I believe that the results were probably similar.
