Hardened Heart

what does it mean when god "hardened pharoah's heart"?

i know part of this is to teach the egyptians that he has control over them and stuff (ie using plagues that were representatives of their gods).

i also think about it and say to myself that if he is doing that to the egyptians he is "torturing" them, i once had a jw tell me that god doesnt torture people.

does this imply that jesus can raise his own body up when he is dead? how could this be possible? if how i percieve this then Jesus could well have said Destroy this BODY, (because by temple he means body) and I (meaning he has the power to and) will raise it again in three days.

any thoughts?

Michel would bever be worshipped (because then he would be a idol/false god, same concept goes with jesus if he is not God, see below)

AND that is just one part of hebrews 1, the whole thing is full of jesus aint michel stuff let alone trinity stuff example in verse 3 - "the son is the radiance of God's Glory..." (cross reference Jn 17:5, “So now you, Father, glorify me alongside yourself with the GLORY that I HAD alongside you before the world was”) but Isa 42:8 says, “I am Jehovah. That is my name; and to no one else shall I give my own glory…” Isa 48:11 says, “… And to no one else shall I give my own glory .”

The Cross

i know there has probably been many discussions on this and ive been given answers with some confusing statements from jw's as well as proffessors and i just want it simplified (if that is possible), i want to know if it is possible to prove the crucifixion was on a cross (in simple terms) .

so far my own personal research which involves the biblical aspect combined with the scientific area has led me to believe the cross.

multiple nails to me infers that his arms were out and not above his head, doesnt make sense to use two nails when nailing his hands above him when only one will do

According to the research done by Frederick T. Zugibe..." Jesus did not die of asphyxiation, but rather from shock and trauma. Additionally, an impaled man with arms stretched straight over his head would suffocate in minutes, whereas a man with hands outstretched to the side at an angle of 60 70 degrees (as on a cross) could live for hours without suffocating.

Luke 23:44 It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour

three hours he was on the "cross" so according to scientific research in relation to the bible, its not possible for Jesus to be on a steak.

I want to know if there is any historical data (documents, archeological finds, etc) pointing to death on a cross or death by steak.

if an active witness were to make this exact statement to an elder, he or she would throw up a red flag!

....not the bible, its interesting that they go straight to themselves for the answers.....i'm pretty sure the bible says something about relying on God and not on man cause man isnt perfect (i think thats also a statement made by the WT isnt it?)

AMEN REVFRANK!!!! and the best part of your analysis is that its not even the tip of the iceberg....

there are many more examples of where the WT likes to put itself in a higher standard then the bible, (depending on which translation you use cause according to a JW my "bible has been translated incorrectly")

My First Doubt

this may not seem like your typical doubt but it was the first time i allowed myself to question the bible and the wt's explanation of things.

about 6 years ago, i was assigned a talk on the man judah.

this was when we were doing talks on specific bible characters.

the most interesting part to me about the story is that there are many more bible characters that are these great people with REALLY crappy things they have done (ie: King David, Paul, Rueben....just to name a few). its always amazing to see double standards on ppl, especailly when they are screwing, killing or some type of sinning against someone.

jws stay focused on lots of rules; cws focus on the principles of love, joy etc.

2. I adhere to the theory of evolution. i used too, then i did some serious studying in college and i came to beleive they're are WAY to many inconsistancies.

3. I celebrate every holiday I can get my hands on. i celebrate most

4. I couldn't give a shit less if my friend or relative is a homosexual. i care about the decisions my friends make

5. I like to frequently engage in premarital, freaky, experimental sex with my live-in girlfriend. I adhere to the statement "i would never sleep with someone who is not my wife"

6. I have graduated from college. currently in it

7. I like to watch "R" rated movies. some great movies

8. Hell, I like to watch "XXX" rated movies. i just dont do that

9. I don't smoke cigarettes, but I LOVE cigars and aromatic pipe tobacco. Cant stand the smell of smoke let alone smoke cigars (although there is this cinnimon chocolate one that doesnt smell that bad)

"Grateful for God's Protection"

i just unsubscribed from a crafting newsletter that i have been receiving for a couple of years.

all along, i have been willing to overlook the "uber-christian" leanings because they offered some neat things like free fonts and cute scrapbooking ideas.

but today they had a feature called "customer spotlight" that just irked the heck out of me:.

something bad happens which means its God's fault.

this tells me that firstly you believe they're is a God to blame.

so you believe in God in some way, shape or form. which means you should be following the things that he teaches. (the bible). there is a great story of things sucking in the bible. a guy named job experianced this.

Job had his oxen and camels stolen,sheep burned from the sky, and family killed in an unfortunate structural failure of the oldest brothers house. first thing Job does is he gets down on his knees and praises God (Job 1:13-21)

key verse is Job 1:22 though, which says "in all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing"

the purpose of this in Job's life is to show his extreme faith in crappy times. it also led Job to have more physically and spiritually with God. there was a plan and purpose to this catastrophe in his life. (and im sure he couldnt see it when he finds out his family is squished under a roof).

I believe that things can suck, but there is a purpose in it. You want to blame God for it, i guess in a way i do too, i just see it a different way
