  How "Strict" was the mentality in your congregation?

  like i said earlier on another thread, in the late 80's in my congregation, a brother could not shake the hand of a sister entering the hall.

  no touching !!!.

  i also recall going out in the field service and it was cold, like -20c, and i went to a ms house just to say hi, and i saw his wife waiting in front of her house for a lift to go out in the field service.

  "Stumbling Stones" in the congregation

  i remember a brother telling me many years ago, that he could have bought a beautiful fur coat to his wife, but he didn't want others in the congregation to be jealous.

  that was the mentality back then.

  no one wanted to be a stumbling stone.. gee, today you see acuras and expensive cars all around the kingdom hall parking lot.

  when i was younger i used to have terrible convulsions and hear "voices".

  my mom was convinced that it must be "the demons".

  the congregation prayed over me and eventually i went to a doctor that was able to figure out why i was so sickly and presto: everyone's prayers were answered..

  If WTBTS were consistent, so many things would be done away with.
  
  Example:
  
  It's not Wednesday. Wednesday is from Woden's Day (AKA Woten's Day/Odin's Day), and therefore, we will not use that pagan appellation. We will now call this day Theocratic IV.
  
  (In ancient times Woten/Odin was linked with Mercury/Hermes, and that is why in Romance languages you have things like Mercredi (Fr.) and Miércoles (Sp.).

  my favorite all time episode is the tennis/j peterman incident where kramer is walking across the tennis court and a racquet goes flying and hits a machine and kramer gets pelleted with tennis balls.

  another really good one is when newman smells kramer basting on the roof and starts seeing him as food.. .

  Where does the human conscience come from?

  i am on the borderline of becoming atheist/agnostic.

  but i still can't figure out the human conscience.

  since the conscience is innate to only the human animal, how did that evolve?.
