  Why do religious people make claims and then refuse to back them up?

  several times over the past few months i have had conversations, both here and in real life, with religious people making all sorts of interesting and conflicting claims.

  i like to know how things work, so generally i will ask questions to net out what i am being told and see if it can be explained and make sense.. for instance, if someone said 2+2=4 and i asked how, there are a variety of ways that could be shown to me, a number line, physical objects being put together, counting on fingers and toes, etc.

  indeed, in my personal life, i often have to explain how certain technologies work, sometimes planned, sometimes off the cuff, from a variety of group sizes to a varying degree of technical expertise.

  The elusive Higgs boson, the so-called "God particle," may not have been discovered despite claims of it being detected, some scientists are saying.

  Particle physicists at the European Organization for Nuclear Research announced 2 years ago they had discovered the Higgs particle, considered the foundation particle in the Standard Model of Particle physics, and a Nobel Prize was awarded to Peter Higgs and Francois Englert for their work on the theory of the Higgs boson.

  Now, though, researchers at the University of Southern Denmark's Center for Cosmology and Particle Physics Phenomenology suggest that while the CERN scientists did discover a unique new particle, there's no conclusive evidence of it being the Higgs boson.

  The Higgs could explain data obtained by CERN scientists using the Large Hadron Collider, but other particles could have created the data, suggesting there might be alternate explanations for it, they say in a paper published in the journal Physical Review D.

  "The current data is not precise enough to determine exactly what the particle is," says university researcher Mads Toudal Frandsen. "It could be a number of other known particles."

  One possibility is that the CERN team was seeing a theoretical particle dubbed the techni-higgs, he says.

  Okay, everybody lost me a few threads ago. What topic are we on now. The original question was: Why do religious people make claims and then refuse to back them up? What.

  Some hypothesis came from the Catholic Church such as the big bang. This is why the Catholic Church by the most part stay silent. That’s been going on since Galileo.

  Science is not faring any better. When the scientific community screamed success for finding the Higgs Boson particle by the CERN, it was premature since 2 years later a portion of the same community screamed foal. Higgs had not found the God Particle. The answer to the simplest question on how matter evolved. The conclusion would allow science to prove string theory and therefore dark matter.

  Since both theories are mystic, there’s no winner. They both cancel each other out according to the laws of physics.

  They don’t consider their outlook in a targeted religion as hatred but a rite of passage. They are only interested in one major event. To bring down the very religion that kicked them out in the first place. It really has nothing to do with the perception of religion as opposed to cults, but there are some here from other Christian faiths maligning just the same.

  It’s a deep rooted anger to the organization they are bitter about, but they fail to see, they have become that of what they most despise. So it’s not an analytical, just typical.

  However, when they feel threaten by an educated person, they have to lash out to show their in control no one else, so save your frustration, debating intellectually here, it’s futile.

  So just like Sheldon said “Oh, you think you’re so clever. Well, let me just tell you, while I do not currently have a scathing retort, you check periodically for a doozy.

  So kick back, enjoy the show as they figure out how to mesmerize you with their own style of intellect.

  when jws have called us we say we are amazing, everything is awesome much to their shock.

  Been there done that. I must live in the wrong side of the USA, but not all college experience is peaches and cream. Maybe you just didn’t notice real life around you. Not just by what you see in television, but by seeing it personally.

  When the walls of Jericho come down again, it won’t sound as funny since all organized religion will go the way of the dodo. That’s right, government will close down your church to. After that, what will you do once government starts telling you how to eat, drink, socialize, and think, etc. oh wait, its already happening, or maybe government will leave you alone because they don’t have the ability to secure your safety, health and welfare and leave you to find for yourselves against all human predators and the elements, darn that’s happening too.

  That you can no longer have anything to do with religion, oh wait, that’s happening in Russia and the Baltic states right now. Extremism, oh wait, that’s already happening in the Middle East. Science: oh wait, the rate of knowledge is accelerating at a high rate of speed to dispel creation by atheism, and evolutionist, and the people at the top don’t give a hoot and a holler if you exist as long as their getting millions upon millions to tell you what you want to hear and everyone at the top will be in a better position to take care of themselves and their families, while not giving a second thought about yours. Government: oh wait, that’s already happening with the gay and lesbian issue.

  Sounds like a college made in heaven. Where can I enroll? The majority of colleges in the USA are the contrary. Not that sex, drugs, and alcohol play a roll every minute, but it’s frequent enough to have female students yelling rape every 30 minutes.

  So yeah, tell those kids that possibly look up to you husband as a role model that your own life experience in college wasn’t so bad, but you cannot speak for the real college life experience for all.

  Well it’s great to get a degree. I have many, but I don’t get the analogy since killing Archduke Franz Ferdinand is the best held belief World War 1 was started, not to mention that Russell wrote about a completion for the year 1914. Was he correct? Yes he was, unless you’re assuming somehow Russell and the ZWT started it. But I do understand the cultural difference on how things are taught.

  • Before World War 1 started, a series of defense alliances existed between many European countries. If one country declared war against another, other countries would be forced, by treaty, to enter the conflict.
  • France, Britain and Ireland, and Russia formed an alliance known as the Triple Entente. Germany was allied with Austria-Hungry. They were known as the Central Powers.
  • When Archduke Franz Ferdinand, the heir to the throne of Austria-Hungary, was assassinated in Sarajevo on 28th June 1914, it triggered a chain of events that resulted in World War 1.
  • Following the assassination, Austria-Hungary, who blamed Serbia for the death of the Archduke, threatened war unless they agreed to a set of harsh demands. Germany sided with Austria-Hungary, and Russia backed Serbia. Europe was on the brink of war.
  • On 28th July, one month after the Archduke’s assassination, Austria-Hungary (supported by Germany) declared war on Serbia. On 1st August, Germany declared war on Russia, and on 3rd August Germany declared war on France.
  • On 4th August, German troops marched on France, taking a route through Belgium. Britain had agreed to guarantee Belgium’s neutrality, and immediately declared war on Germany.
  • British and German forces clashed on 23rd August at the Battle of Mons, which took place in Belgium. This was the first battle between the British and the Germans on the Western Front.

  My question is, what does genocide that this entire world is guilty of one way or another, just like the British in the 19 century to protect the Crown as it were has to do with the WT. Since you specifically state the USA, Are you related to Piers Morgan? Mate!!

  Question for people who believe in Evolution

  though school i did religious education and my teacher who was religious ruled out evolution because humans are the only creatures who do not want to die, can anyone who understands evolution explain this?.

  im 99% on to the theory of evolution, this is just the last stumbling block..

  Well for evolutionist, the climax would be the confirmation of the Higgs Boson. Science has been trying since 1964 to confirm the miracle of man. It’s only been 51 years in its logic. Although if proven, not only will it dispel the notion of creation, but evolution to. The conclusion that man achieved the God Particle would imply the existence of a higher being. Not God, Perhaps a Theoretical physicist a singular genius with a God complex, and he has been playing with creation for over 100,000,000 billion years according to Degrassi’s insight of the universe, and it took our species (MAN) this long to conclude the same. That means we have become the God complex (MULTIPLE)-(LUCA) for the next cycle of life after ours is complete (HUMAN). So what’s next? How would Human existence interact with the originator or first achievement in order not to be recycled as an intellectual species that is attempting to occupy the same space since the first God Particle has extinct all other creations according to man’s understanding of natural history.
