Nah, it's the GB's fault entirely. If the GB decided tomorrow that they were going to make blood transfusions a conscience matter, or that they have decided to alter the child abuse policy so that two witnesses are no longer needed, the lawyers would just point out the risks to the GB of being sued and then do whatever the society said. But the ultimate power is with the GB, who are nothing but spiritual cowards who are only interested in maintaining doctrinal status quo, numerical growth and outward appearances . They are the ones doing the leading and the fault rests entirely on their shoulders.

GB led by lawyers?
by Lady Lee inif all of the men on the gb were born into or raised within the wts walls, it can pretty much means they have been insulated from the real world.
other than the lawyers (who else would have a lot of experience living in the real world?
) who else would be directing what gets printed or not?

Jesus no longer really "a god"?
by M.J. ini saw the latest wt magazine released this week.
i don't have it on me but on the cover it asks the question, "is there only one true god?".
skimming the story inside i noticed they quoted the verse in isaiah where it mentions there is only one god and there never was or will be a god alongside him.. "hmm," i wondered, "how will they reconcile this with john 1:1?".
-

MJ, how about scanning the article rather than expecting us to base our comments on your summary of it, because if you are right this latest article would flatly contradict other comments by the Society about John 1:1, ie, they acknowledge that Jesus (the Logos) is a God and of the divine nature (but is always a lesser God than the Father Jehovah).

Jehovah's Witnesses Are Awaiting Persecution!
by minimus inif jws "suffer" persecution it will make them feel as if they are fulfilling bible prophecy.
they like thinking and believing that they are chosen to be abused and persecuted.
if any political upheavals occur, they look at it as a sign to say that the end is near.

Not quite sure why you jump from 'persecution' to 'political upheavels' in the next breath.
Jesus DID say that his followers would be persecuted. If JW's are persecuted solely for obeying Jesus commands somehow then fair enough Eg, refusing to take up arms in Nazi Germany during WW2; I actually think JW's anti-Hitler stance and the subsequent persecution they suffered was highly commendable. The problem with JW's however is that 90% of the time they are 'persecuted' for following strange, legalistic interpretations of the Watchtower Society rather than purely for obeying Jesus (eg, refusing to do alternative non-military service for refusing to take, or not purchasing a one-party political card, or not having blood-transfusions).

2006 Predictions for the WTS
by Nosferatu in.
not sure if this has been done yet, and i know i'm a little late with it, but with the big news, the potential for new light coming soon, and the dropping increase in worldwide jw membership, what do you think is going to happen this year with the wts?
-
yaddayadda
Same. Nothing for this year. If the US bombs Iran or some crap like that, then there will be the usual slight increase and excitement as disaffected JW's suddenly imagine the end is close after all and they need to get their butts back into the 'Ark' for salvation. Things may get a bit interesting post-2014 when we can expect an increased snow-balling of those who've had enough of 'waiting' for the end that they have been told for so many years is always 'at hand'.

Watchtower failing in it's stated purpose
by yaddayadda inthe watchtower is failing in it's stated purpose contained on the inside cover of every issue.
"it keeps watch on world events as these fulfill bible prophecy".
when was the last time you read an article that discussed current world events and how they are related to bible prophecy?

Ezra: "the watchtower keeps watch on world events to help us understand how close we are"
To help us understand how close we are to the end? Ezra, you have got to be joking man. The Watchtower has patently failed in that task. It has since it's inception 130 years ago done nothing but boastfully proclaim that the end is nigh, yet this system still goes on. This is because their chronology, dates, and the 'composite sign' are all hopelessly wrong. Perhaps the end of this world is close, who knows, but the plain fact of the matter is that the Watchtower Society has failed to help its adherents truly understand where they are in the stream of time, other than constantly repeating the nebulous mantra: 'the end is at hand'! Jesus said to keep in expectation of him, yes, but the Watchtower has gone beyond that and used the fear of Armageddon and hope that God will soon intervene as a psychological fear tool based on completely unfounded premises. The WTS has proven itself to be a presumptous false prophet on numerous occasions - nothing more, nothing less.

EVASION! How to blank out what you don't want to know

"Thinking is the virtue man prizes most. All other virtues proceed from thinking. Logically, the greatest source of all evils stems from EVASION of thinking."
Not according to Buddhists. Their aim to kill the constantly thinking mind and remain instead aware of the present moment. Their argument is that too much thinking creates evil. In fact writers such as Eckhart Tolle insist that we are generally unconscious as long as we are thinking. The problem is not a lack of thinking by JW's because all they ever go on about is knowledge, knowledge, knowledge (John 17:3 ad nauseum). The problem is what they think about. Their problem is a lack of considering all sides of the argument. They wilfully choose to only think about what their own leaders feed them.

Answering JW Objections
by Rook in2. the father is god .
4. the holy spirit is god .
simply put, the doctrine of the trinity states that there is one true god, and within that god there are three co-equal and co-eternal persons: father, son, and holy spirit.

"Simply put, the doctrine of the Trinity states that there is one true God, and within that God there are three co-equal and co-eternal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each Person of the Trinity is distinct from the other, but all three comprise one God. Yea that's very simple but it's also ridiculous, being quite obviously profoundly self-contradictory and an insult to your intelligence. 3 = 1, all 3 distinct and separate but making up one God. What a load of nonsense, honestly. It amazes me the abstruse and twisted nonsense that staunch trinitarian defenders will resort to in order to explain away the obvious meaning of crystal clear statements by Jesus and others in the bible. It's never enough to accept Jesus words at face value when he said that the Father was greater than him, that no one was good but God (ie, the Father), that Jesus could do nothing of his own initiative but only what the father told him, that he was sent by the Father, that Jesus twice referred to the Father is his God and the God of Mary, that Jesus was literally dead and had to be resurrected by the Father, that Jesus was given all authority and his throne, that the apostle Paul said that the head of Christ was God, that the Father gave Jesus his new name in heaven, that Jesus had to learn obedience, that Paul only ever called the Father God and never Jesus, and so on and so on. The tortured, unconvincing reasoning to explain these clear biblical statements makes me pity trinitarians.

Jw vs Christianity...

“According to the belief espoused by JW's, all people that lived until the JWs were Founded by Charles Russell must have been doomed to failure, not being able interpret the Bible.”That is incorrect. The WTS has said that there have been ‘wheat’ that arose in various past centuries but that they got quickly crushed by the weeds. They acknowledge certain groups or individuals in the last 2,000 years as most likely being true Christians.
“the scriptures definitely indicate one God with a triune nature - existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.”
Whatever. So says the author of that site without producing any scriptures to prove it. I suppose they feel Matt 28:19,20 proves the trinity LOL.
“The JW Bible did not provide an accurate or legitimate translation of this verse”
Nonsense. It is up for debate. There are other translations and scholars that agree with the NWT rendering or similar to it.
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God -
not by works
, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9, NIV) (Emphasis added).”Not once have JW's ever said that works alone is all that is required. How about showing the full context of that 1972 article instead of taking things out of context. So what does James 2:26 mean? It is through faith that we are saved but obviously there should be Christian works that naturally flow from that faith. The two must go hand in hand. Don’t give me this ‘once saved always saved’ crap. .
“
We will be gods when we join Christ in heaven.
This obviously flies in the face of the JW claim that they are monotheistic. Isaiah 43:10 and 1 Timothy 2:5 are but two of many verses that confirm there is only One God. To claim we will become gods is blasphemy.”That’s typical, take a really old quote from 1881 and try and make out this is still what JW’s officially teach. LOL and then this person quotes a couple of scriptures which refute their earlier claim that God is three in one.
“Oops! The "fiendish" concept of hell actually comes from the Bible, not from a slanderer. (Matthew 25:46, Revelations 14:11, 19:20, and 20:10).”
What a pathetic defense this is. Quote a few symbolic verses and make them out to be literal. Dumb. This person reckons JW's teach rubbish, but only a moron would believe that God roasts people forever in hell.
“The Christmas and Easter holidays are very Christian holidays that coincide with pagan holidays. They were set on these dates to divert attention from the pagan holidays to the truths of God.”
Coincide with pagan holidays? LOL. This person doesn’t know much about the history and motives of the Roman Catholic Church.
