I've heard that 'political paramours' was one of Fred Franz's favourite expressions and whenever you see this phrase in one of the Society's publications then you know it was Freddy who wrote it. Spooky.

Suprising statement by C.T.Russell in first Watchtower
by dmouse inthere's a website that has reprint of lots of old watchtower, and i happened to look at the first one, dated july, 1879.. http://www.mostholyfaith.com/bible/reprints/.
in a supplement to the issue, by c.t.russell, he offers a suprising (to me) viewpoint which seems to echo the arguments of many 'apostates' here, namely, that to kill billions at armageddon would be unloving and unscriptual.. we reasoned that, if christ's coming were to end probation, and bring irrevocable ruin upon ninety-nine in a hundred of mankind; then it could scarcely be considered desirable, neither could we pray with proper spirit, "come, lord jesus, come quickly!
" we had rather request--much as we should "love his appearing"--that he remain away and our sufferings and trials continue so that "if by any means we might save some.

You're talking about something else zico. Yes you are right dmouse, that's what Russell taught and believed and its still believed by most of the bible students. When I learned this some years ago it was an epiphany for me. It confirmed what I had felt in my heart all along, that the JW version of Jehovah and the hope for mankind is twisted + sick. It was something that allowed me to leave the org holding my head up.

New Campaign: "The End of False Religion Is Near" and the Tribulation
by Mikeus inyesterday my wife (an inactive-but-not-yet-df'd jw) and i went over to visit her parent's house (still very active jws), and my mother-in-law handed my wife a flyer entitled 'the end of false religion is near' with a nice evil-destroying lightning bolt pictured on the front.
she whispered to my wife that this was a new campaign and was not supposed to be handed out until next month, but was "very excited, because this is supposed to bring about the tribulation".. they may be right.
inside the two pages they call catholics condoning child molesting (ironic), non-jws blood thirsty war mongers, and how people involved in politics are under mind control (again, ironic), among other things.

There's a saying that those with small egos need to stamp on others to elevate themselves. The tract campaign is just more of that by the Society. The oldboys at Brooklyn need to constantly denounce 'false religion' in order to try and elevate themselves in the minds of the r&f and restore their waning image. Did the early disciples go around denouncing other religions as their main focus of preaching? No, they focused peoples attention on Christ. When was the last time the JW's had a tract campaign about Jesus Christ? What did Jesus say about religious leaders who go around thumping their chest and saying how much better they are than everyone else; a certain illustration about two Jews praying comes to mind - one a self-righteous pharisee, the other a humble, contrite worshipper. What did Jesus say will happen to hypocritical religous leaders who think they're so much better than the rest.

Are we in Christ's 1000 year reign yet?
by undercover insomething that gets lost in the debate over whether the wts ever claimed in print that armageddon would come in 1975 is that they did teach, in print, that 1975 would be the end of 6,000 years of man's existance on earth.. what significance is that?
according to the wts, in print, jesus would start his new 1,000 year reign of peace at the start of the new "millenium".
satan would be abyssed, war will end, the wicked destroyed.. whether the wts said in so many words, "armageddon is coming in 1975" or not, it is strongly associated with the then coming 1,000 year period of peace and rule by jesus.

The gap between 1914 and the actual start of the millennial reign is easy for JW's to rationalise away > Rev 12: we are presently in the 'short period of time' between when Jesus becomes king and when he 'extends his dominion' towards the earth. This 'ruling but not yet extended his dominion' is a completely extra-biblical invention by the Society, akin to the Catholic churches (recently discarded) limbo teaching.

The Society's bible chronology for the 6000 year terminus being 1975 is based entirely on James Usher's Annales Veteris at Novi Testamenti (years of the old and new testaments), which is disputed. How richly ironic that the Society relied so heavily on this single secular historican's version of bible chronology, yet they reject the tonnes of secular historical evidence that 586 is the correct date for the destruction of Jerusalem. Blind fools.

Our site and THAT article, what we have decided to do.
by fullofdoubtnow inas many of you know, we were asked to remove an article from our website the other day after pressure on the site admin from jws.
we had thought of rewriting it, and including references, then putting it back on the site.. however, we aren't going to do that now.
instead, trev has expanded the article somewhat, and included examples, all of which ended up with the abusive jw concerned going to prison, and we are having 2000 copies printed initially, and distributed locally.

Interesting website, although not sure why you logically conclude that JW's do not have 'anything remotely resembling' 'the truth' just because the WTS associated with the UN and 607 is not when Jerusalem fell? The typical loyal JW who happened upon your sight would dismiss that derisively, thinking "the writer of this website imagines that to have the true religion means it must be a perfect religion". Are there any other more compelling reasons you have?

It simply means Jesus returns when people least expect it, when they are sleeping, not on guard. Since hundreds of millions of Christians are keenly expecting Jesus to float down from the sky any day now and touch down by the wailing wall in Jerusalem or whatever, it means Jesus return is not near.

What constitutes a JW salvation and why?
by jelloface inwhat do the jw's believe makes people saved?
what is wrong with the non-jehovah's witness's life that makes them need salvation?
-

The Watchtower Society says that taking in spiritual food, ie, knowledge of Jehovah and Jesus and their kingdom through the faithful and discreet slave is vital to salvation - John 17:3..the JW mantra. Hence you must not forsake going to all the meetings so you can take in that knowledge. You must also report field service time or you will be bloodguilty when the big A arrives. The world at large is guilty of community bloodguilt and are doomed to die, and if you do not warn them they will die you are also bloodguilty and will die. If by the time Armageddon comes you're found slacking in the JW works programme, the chances are you will be slaughtered by a God of love (I love you - I'll kill you) and will be non-existent for all eternity, along with 99% of the rest of mankind. So, in a nutshell, JW salvation depends on obediently performing the organisational works agenda set by the WTS leadership.

the apocalyptic wrath of Jehovah
by veradico inhas anyone here ever read donald hall's "prophecy," from the one day: a poem in three parts?
it gives deuteronomy chapter 28 a run for its money.
its disturbing vision is sure to thrill those dubs whose only christmas wish (if they could have such a pagan thing) would be for everyone else to just die already.

family alienation PE book
by econaut incan someone help out.
i'm doing a speech on cult recruitment and wanted to illustrate the wts's effort to separate new recruits from family by quoting the opening of the pe book that "warns" the reader that his family will be used by satan to discourage them.
could anyone post the paragraph, by quoting or scanning?

Yikes it is so long since I read that paragraph in the PE book. Now it seems to bizarre to read it, so cultish....like something the moonies would say.
