New Campaign: "The End of False Religion Is Near" and the Tribulation

Yesterday my wife (an inactive-but-not-yet-df'd JW) and I went over to visit her parent's house (still very active JWs), and my mother-in-law handed my wife a flyer entitled 'The End of False Religion Is Near' with a nice evil-destroying lightning bolt pictured on the front. She whispered to my wife that this was a new campaign and was not supposed to be handed out until next month, but was "very excited, because this is supposed to bring about the tribulation".
They may be right. Inside the two pages they call Catholics condoning child molesting (ironic), non-JWs blood thirsty war mongers, and how people involved in politics are under mind control (again, ironic), among other things. Basically the same old crap, but in a very aggressive way this time.
They also talk about the Revelation book at some length, which I found interesting seeing as they just released a new one.
So, heads up. The WTS is launching a new campaign in November basically telling it's members to try and go get beaten up so Armageddon will hurry up and get here.

Welcome to the forum Mikus.....You might want to look into the threads and see that this is old news here! It is kindof funny to see that many ex-JW's know more about what is going on in the org than those that are in it. They did really hype this tract up though....telling them "persecution" can be expected due to this tract...but really it is the same ol' same ol'.

    Mikeus,

Velkommen, vee are gehappy du hab joined mit uns. (excuse my fake german, I'm in a teutonic mood.) Honest, don't let this tract get you worried, its more litter as you say and wothless in its impact. Its like busy work when the substitute teacher takes over a class. It keeps them busy but accomlishes nothing.

You know what's really a hoot? Last Thursday on the service meeting, the PO gave the campaign talk and he revealed that some of the friends felt "scared" to deliver this message. Woooooooooow. Get over it dubbies, no one gives a hoot about your propaganda. I guess one wackjob fundie or radical Muslim attacking a dub will no doubt count as "Satan's persecution." But really, I don't even know if those two groups even care about us.

    He meant to say "embarrassed."

Yes....this tract (for those that don't automatically toss it into the trash) will probably p*ss off some people and make them hate JWs more than they already DO. This has NO CONNECTION to the idea of what Jesus said about being hated because of HIS teachings! It's one more phony idea that the WTS has planted in their brains to make them FEEL important.

The only "persecution" JWs get is when they irritate the hell out of people, announcing that their religion is all wrong and tell them how they will DIE if they don't become a JW.....and yes....it may just happen that this will be a reaction they will get.

    Maybe.

Another tempest in a teapot folks.

    Typical WTS style.

WELCOME, MIKEUS!!! We're glad you're here, and I love your weird little avatar, by the way.

Yes, please do stick around... as MegsMomma says, this is sortof old news for this forum... it's truly funny how scans of materials show up on this board weeks before a convention release.

    LOL at WillyLoman.

    Hi Mikus

    Welcome to the forum :)

I recently disassociated myself but live in a different territory to the hall I attended. I got one of those leaflets put through my letterbox today. I live in a block of flats and noticed that they weren't knocking, just posting. I rushed to the window and saw a small group of witnesses standing outside.

They were stood there for ages and I really wanted to shout out to them "nice way to top up your hours ain't it?" but I didn't have the guts. I stared at them for a while feeling really agitated by their arrogance. I imagined they were full of excitement (or is that excrement?) over their campaign. But saying that, the older men of the group looked really miserable, it made me wonder how many doubts they were harbouring or wether that's just how they looked :)

Anyway, they slowly trudged off. I felt a mixture of pity and annoyance, quite confusing really.

That's funny, Mikeus! You're right -- Armageddon isn't coming along as quickly as it should, so the JWs need to work themselves up with a little artificial drama to hold them over until the "real" drama arrives. And welcome to the forum.

Wasanelder: "Velkommen, vee are gehappy du hab joined mit uns. (excuse my fake german, I'm in a teutonic mood.)"

Sorry to criticize, wasanaelder, but verbs always come last in fake German. Your sentence should read, "Velkommen, we gehappy are du mit uns gejoined hab."
