About 10 years ago I did a simple projection for when the organisation's annual publisher growth rate would hit zero. The date I arrived at was 2009. My rough projection was based on the preceding 20 worldwide annual reports.
Obviously my projection was wrong. The dubbies continue to get modest % increases every year of their publisher numbers, although as a percentage of the total worldwide publisher figure the annual growth rate seems to be slowly but surely reducing year by year.
Has anyone else attempted to predict when the growth will finally hit zero. Will it be 5 years, 10 years, 20? Or will they always get some kind of increase, no matter how small?
Obviously the dubbies future growth or otherwise is contingent on many things, for example, future wars, terrorist attacks, etc, and how much doomsday spin the Society excites in the publishers. But it appears the trend is firmly set for the annual growth rate to finally bottom-out in the not too distant future, at least judging by the fall-off in growth in many developed countries.

Proof: Watchtower "Following Christ" is a Fraud (wt8/1/07)
by metatron inthe august 1 watchtower contains a life story by a sister stigers "who finished her earthly course on april 20, 2007".
if you think that this cult.
has suddenly re-found jesus, forget it.

They don't need to mention Jesus because slaving for for the organisation is the same as slaving for Jesus. The organisation IS Jesus.
The May 15, 2007 Watchtower has an article called "Why Meet Together?". The article is all about why we should go to the meetings. The whole thing is written as a clever spin on Jesus words found at Matthew 11:28-30, with the following subheadings such as "Come to Me", "You Who Are Toiling and Loaded Down", "My Yoke is Kindly and My Load is Light", I Am Mild-Tempered and Lowly in Heart", "You Will Find Refreshment for Your Souls." The article concludes by saying that by going to the meetings we are responding to Jesus invitation to "Come to Me"!
How nauseating can you get. The sheer audacity to equate going to the organisation is the same as going to Christ. They are truly completely out of touch with what it means to really go to Christ.
The article is a classic example of how completely deluded and out of touch the Watchtower writers are with what is going on in the congregations. They truly are living in a fantasy world if they think going to all those endless meetings 3 times a week is a light, kindly yoke and is refreshing. On the contrary, all those boring meetings so many times a week are nothing but a tiresome chore to an increasing number of JW's. The Governing Body are nothing but a bunch of heartless taskmasters who only bind up heavy loads on the backs of JW's but do nothing to budge them as they revel in their apostle-like status at Patterson, New York (Matthew 23:4). And then they have the cheek to say that sticking to their burdensome programme of organisational works is what it means to come to Christ. -

Claims about decreasing donations.
by proplog2 inevery so often it is mentioned that donations are decreasing.
i have never heard that directly from the publications or from the platform.
this is the only place where i have seen this claim.. is there anything factual to this?

There was a thread started by JWfacts (I think) not so long ago where it was stated that official figures released by the Society showed that donations in Australia last year were about 33% down.

My act of disobedience at the DC (pathetic, but thrillingly satisfying)
by CaptainSchmideo insaturday, i am with my son, my sister-in-law, and my 2 1/2 year old nephew, trying to walk out of the arena to return my lunch cooler to the car.
the exit we use is a "one way only, no re-entry permitted gate.
ok, i'm fine with that, i just want to leave the building through this corridor, not re-enter the same way.

You're right, the JW's and the former communist Kremlin have very much in common in how they treat and control people.

Name one thing the JW's would like to see changed in their religion?
by JH inlets say the jw's were allowed to write down on a piece of paper, without anyone knowing who wrote what, one thing that they would like changed in their religion, what do you think most jw's would want changed?
-

Most would write either dump some of the meetings or dump having to report field service time.

"There's nothing else out there"
by yaddayadda ina friend of mine is returning to the meetings.
his reason is "there's nothing else out there" (meaning out in the world).
if i had a dollar for every time i've heard a jw say this.

You are right choosing life. There are many JW's who would love to give it up but there is just too much to lose socially and emotionally. All their friends and family are in it and the pressure they exert is tremendous.
My friend is not interested at all in the doctrinal stuff. He goes purely for the social connections. But he knows he is wasting his time trying to find a marriage mate in our area. He often gets left out of social events and marriageable sisters hardly give him the time of day. So deep down he resents it all and would like to be free to find a woman in the world. So he gets depressed and turns to me for sympathy when his social life goes on a downer in the congregation and dumps on me emotionally. But after a few weeks he crawls back to the organisation and gets all 'witnessey' again and even tries to get me to come back to the meetings also. It's quite pathetic.
I've concluded it's almost impossible to maintain old JW friendships after you leave. It's more frustrating than anything else. -

A friend of mine is returning to the meetings. His reason is "there's nothing else out there" (meaning out in the world). If I had a dollar for every time I've heard a JW say this. Its like a little buzzphrase they use to help convince each other why they should stay. Makes me sick.
My friend is a boomerang JW. Every now and then he decides he has had enough of being a witness and stops attending all meetings for while but before too long he reverts back to JW mode and crawls back. He must have done this about a dozen times. I have lost a lot of respect for him because of his constant vacillating and I know that no one in the congregation respects him.
It really annoys the shit out of me. The JW fantasy world is nothing but a security blanket for many people without the emotional strength or social skills to leave. Unfortunately my friend is definitely of that type. All the years of brainwashing that the end of the world is around the corner has meant he has lived for the moment and failed to plan properly for the future and develop the capabilities needed to make it long term as a normal person living in the world.
I'm convinced he is psychologically incapable of ever leaving the JWs.
Everything else is out there. The whole world is out there with billions of normal people living normal lives who are no different to you or I.
What is there to be found in the JW world?: Just a lot of self-righteous, judgmental people who sit on their bums in a hall 3 times a week and listen to a lot of hot air. The truth is "there is nothing IN there" (the organisation)

50% of the content of the assemblies these days seems to be just experiences and demonstrations.
"Look at me, I'm so righteous...I turned down a big promotion and got blessed by Jehovah with 4 bible studies, one of which is getting baptized tomorrow!"
"Look at me, I'm so righteous...I read 10 chapters of the NWT every day and havn't missed a meeting in 10 years!"
"Look at me, I'm so righteous...I've been in the truth for 40 years and have regular pioneered the last 20!"
blah, blah, blah. Same old stuff every assembly and convention.
This kind of boring fluff is what the Society imagines really gets the crowd fired up to do more. -

I doubt very much this is a motive behind the change. As long as a Bible Student is still studying and attends an occasional meeting then he will be considered to be making progress. A Bible Student is hardly going to see this as an incentive to hurry up and get baptized. "Oooh, I better get baptized soon so I have the privilege of getting my own personal, shiny copy of the JW special Watchtower. Yippee". Yea right.
