A lot of it is because other churches use bibles that have removed the name from the OT. Whenever they read LORD in the OT they think it means Lord Jesus. This has a big part to play in the easy acceptance of the trinity, unfortunately.
The Watchtower are guilty of inserting Jehovah in the NT where it perhaps shouldn't be but the other bible translators are worse for leaving the name out of the OT altogether!

Why isn' the name "Jehovah" used?
by MichaelM inis it because many believe that jesus christ / god / holy spirit are all one being, and after jesus christ was born they stopped using god's name and put all focus on jesus?

The WTS sounds more and more like strickly a business to me.....
by R.F. inthere was yet another disfellowshipping going in my congo announce the other night.
that makes 6 i believe now, 5 i'm sure of that have been dfed in the past year or so in my congo alone, and they don't seem to be making any effort towards reinstatement.
i know the reasons behind all those, that's why i know they were dfed and not daed.

You are absolutely right that the organisation is not geared to help the weak, only to judge and 'fire' them like a ruthless business manager. You may get two or three warnings (put on reproof if you grovel to the elders at your JC) but 3 strikes and yer out! No matter how repentant you are for your weakness, you WILL be expelled if you do it a third time (can't be repentant if you keep doing it the elders will tell you).

These kinds of articles are great because they serve to distance in JW's minds what their leaders in their ivory towers want them to do and whats happening at the grassroots. They reinfoce a gap that appears to be developing at the congregation level and the ivory tower level. No one really takes the call for young ones to ignore higher education seriously anymore. Congregations in the West are littered with young ones who go to University.
Paragraph 8 is sickening. It subtly reinforces cliqueness and judgmentalism amongst the youth in the congregation. It is basically telling young ones to only associate with those who are spiritual strong in the congregation, which means they should avoid those who are judged as being 'spiritually weak (which to a JW means anyone who doesn't go to all the meetings, irregular FS, doesn't answer up are not worthy of their company or is not on the TMS). Instead why aren't they writing that the youth in the congregation should be ensuring they do not exclude any other youth and should be going out of their way to encourage weaker ones. Instead they write this pompous, self-righteous crap. All JW's are good for is judging people, even in their own congregation. -

E-watchman says Ray Franz is 'animalistic' LOL!
by yaddayadda inin a critique of 'captives of a concept', robert king accuses anyone who can't get past all of the watchtower society's 'obstacles' as animalistic and lacking spirituality, including don cameron and ray franz.
it's mindblowing how this bloke can consistently call the watchtower leaders liars, blind, false prophets, dishing up vomitous things, etc, yet continue to preach that they are still a 'faithful steward' uniquely appointed by christ.
so, while it is true that jehovahs witnesses have not come to know the judgment of jehovah, cameron is similarly captive to a concept; and hence, ignorant of jehovahs judgment.

Robert King has very strong opinions, is obnoxious and highly judgmental, and is ultra-defensive of the organisation, but that hardly makes him 'insane'. Get real.
I'm not a psychiatrist but any fool knows that a psychiatrist would hardly label him insane. I guess your criteria for insanity is simply anyone with extremely strong religious views. Robert King may be delusional (whatever that means) but Hillary-step and Outlaw, you are both morons. -

fyi Hillary I read many of YouKnow's posts a long time ago and have not come in at the end of the game whatsoever. This is a JW board so anything pertaining to JW's is worth discussion and since Robert King spouts a lot of stuff about JW's and the organisation I think some of his material is worth discussing.
But it seems everyone is content to childishly call him 'insane' and that is that. Sounds like my 8 year old niece who petulantly calls anything 'crazy' that she simply can't understand. -

Very interesting! Thanks for posting this.
I really liked the following in the article:
"The committee judged that refusing a blood donation for children under 15 who are considered to be immature in terms of their self-determination capabilities constitutes an abuse of parental rights."
DAMN RIGHT IT IS AN ABUSE OF PARENTAL RIGHTS! The Watchtower Society has been blackmailing otherwise upstanding JW parents for decades into sacrificing their babies and children on the alter of religious extremism, legalism, and fanaticism.
I think this is the way the Watchtower Society will be forced to go with their blood policy in future. All babies, children and young teens should be free to have a blood transfusion without the parents feeling any kind of pressure/guilt by the organisation.
The JW blood policy should ONLY apply to those who are baptized and who are mature teens upwards. It's such an obvious solution for the Watchtower Society. -

Affirmative arguments for the non-existence of Jesus
by WhatSexRU ini was just reading a thread on this forum called saviors of the world?.
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/10/136105/1.ashx.
that thread discussed similarities between the various saviors, or messiahs that are said to have walked the earth, most of them appearing long before jesus supposedly emerged.

The question is not whether Jesus existed or not. It's obvious he was a real historical figure. No historian really denies this.
The question is: how much that is written about him in the NT is historical and how much is embellished.
The position that the gospels are firmly in the genre of fictional literature is, of course, the only possible explanation for atheists. Certainly there were some liberties taken by the gospel writers, but to conclude that the gospels represent pure literature, like folklore, does not stand up under closer scrutiny and a growing body of contemporary research.
Here's some threads that will give you another perspective:
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/10/128069/1.ashx
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/10/120128/1.ashx
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/10/129981/1.ashx
At the end of the day we cannot be certain about what is historical and what is fictional in the NT. But it is a mistake to insist on 100% certainty. If that were the test then we would have to reject all of ancient history. And it simply isn't good enough to reject the gospels simply because they contain miracles when there is a lot of evidence that supports their historicity notwithstanding the miracles.
Ultimately it all comes down to faith. If you believe in God then believing in the historicity of the gospels is a small step of faith. It doesn't have to be a giant leap of credulity. -

LOL, I hardly think he is insane. Is that the best criticism we can come up with?
When you think about it, he is not so different from most loyal JW's. He is completely convinced that JW's are the true religion despite all the obvious faults and has rationalised the faults away, like many JW's do, except he has done so more intelligently (or delusionally). Perhaps the biggest difference is he apparently sincerely believes the organisation's pitiful condition was foretold in ancient bible prophecy (the most bizarre part of his belief system). Oh, and he evidently has the motivation, money, and time to stick it all up on the internet.
What puzzles me about his attitude is that if JW's are indeed a modern-day 'nation of Israel' to whom bible prophecy applies (just for arguments sake let's assume they are), then shouldn't it be obvious that the Watchtower Society would, in that case, be the equivalent of the wicked first century Jewish religious rulers. The Jews of that time believed many true doctrines, like JW's do, but that didn't matter one sniff to Jesus. Although doctrinally the Jews were closer to the truth than everyone else around them, their 'organisation' of worship was doomed and destroyed. Robert King proclaims the Watchtower Society is also doomed. So why the heck does he keep defending the organisation and abusing those who denounce it?
Why doesn't he just say "The Watchtower Society are doomed according to Bible prophecy so in the final analysis it doesn't matter a jot whether you stick with it or not. Your salvation has nothing to do with the organisation so just try your best to be a good Christian with or without the organisation and you will be ok." Ray Franz takes this very position (minus the 'doomed according to Bible prophecy' bit) yet Robert King viciously attacks him. I don't get it.
I can only put it down to Mr King being thoroughly confused about where his loyalties lie. He must suffer from some terrible cognitive dissonance.
