What do you think of yourself now?
by MsMcDucket inas a dub, we had to suppress all of our inner feelings, desires, self-image, and what not.
now, that you're out, what was the first thing that you did (that you would of gotten a *smack down* for as a witness)?.
you don't have to tell all of the details.

I started looking at Disney movies and then started looking at R rated movies. I went out to clubs with my sisters. I started buying music again (I never did like the Kingdom melodies. I thought that they were just *blah* horrible.). Went to school and got a degree.... and more.

What is the meaning of Apostate?
by NiecyMe inthe dictionary defines apostate as "one who practices apostasy, to revolt".
doesn't this apply to just about anyone?
jw's wanted us to think that the word has more meaning into it then it really does.

Strong willed person. Someone who was able to go against his peers beliefs. Willing to be shunned because he/she knows that leaving the group is the right thing. I, also, like ex-cult member, because it throws the ball back at them.

A sister once answered up in the congregation and said she was glad she was brain-washed. She said her brain was so full of trash before she became a witness tha ther brain needed washing
Isn't this a line that all of the Jehovah's Witnesses use. I know that the person that I studied with loved to say this "Sometimes people's brains could use some washing". They must of heard it at a convention and all of them started saying it like robots. I think someone here mentioned that the statement was once made by a Charles Manson follower and some convention speaker picked it up and used it. Must be why the dubs are so fund of using the phrase.

Did you ever get any "Bad Advice" from Elders or Ministerial Servants?
by JH in.
i remember once, an elder told me that i could become a full time pioneer.
i was working 40 hours a week, and had a seasonal job 7 months a year.. the way he figured it out, i could work 8 hours during my day, then go to my meetings, and still find 3 or 4 hours to preach that same day...... i told him to go climb a tree.

They told me to stop associating with my family. Told me that going to funerals of loved ones or friends at other churches would not be a good idea because you wouldn't believe anything that the preacher said, and because "bad associations spoil useful habits". Funny thing is, I never felt like I had any family while in that religion. They told me not to let what others did "stumble me". That's the best thing that a witness ever did for me (stumbling me). Any of you lurkers out there, if you know my twins, please, stumble them.

Brian find a healthy snack that will cover your craving tastes. The craving tastes that I found that I have the most are: salty, sweet, and meaty. So for salty, I eat popcorn; for sweet, I eat an apple or some yogurt; and for meaty, a small bowl of soup. So far it's working for me. I've lost about 30 lbs. I haven't started exercising because I'm a diabetic, and I get the sugar cravings from hell when I exercise. So, I'm kind of taking one thing at a time. When my weight loss starts slowing down, and after I get used to hunger cravings, I'll start exercising.
Oh yeah! And as always drink plenty of water.
Disclaimer: I'm not a nutritionist or doctor, so this is **only** what I do. It's not a medically approved diet.

i realize that everyone at some time or another gets overwhelmed.

I'll take a couple of saucy ribs with some fried green tomatoes. Heck, throw a beer in with it!

I disassociated myself; but I'm sure that by now, I'm considered a disfellowshipped apostate.
