biological Age 41, real age 17,8.
Now I understand why they said I did not look like over 40 the other day!.
Life expectancy was hampered by the alcohol.....well I guess that everybody need some kind of sin .....98.2!
I think I'm going to sit down in the sun and have a glass of wine, just to absorb the sock!

Anonymously disclosing location
by Mickey mouse ini had an idea last night and thought i would see how others feel about it.. i would just love to know if there are members of jwd in my area.
unfortunately like so many others i cannot give too much away as i am still "in" for family reasons.
i was thinking, would it work if we created some of those maps where you can pin your location but do it anonymously (i.e not using our jwd i.d as a reference)?

My life - A brief history. Part 1
by Galileo inthis post has gotten quite long so i decided to break it up into at least two sections.
i hope it doesnt come across as rambling.
i should start with a confession: it was my smurf that walked out of the kingdom hall in the early 80's.

Hi Galileo,
Welcome to the board. Your first post is written well. Looking forward to part 2.
My brother is still in deep. Last week he told me he was doing some course to keep up with his pension brokerage business. I asked him if he did notice how the society was frowning upon further education.......He looked at me a few moments, his mouth became a straight line and said: To hell with them.....My response: may your wish be granted!
I feel that a lot of Ex Jw's and fading Jw's have his issue: skipped education because of faulty religious thinking.

What was the "point of no return" for you?
by B_Deserter inwas there a point in leaving the organization where you did something that demonstrated that you had officially made your decision to leave?
for me, i think it's going to be when i vote in the general election this year.
it will be my first action in public against jw doctrine.

For me it has been the UN thing. at the point of learning about an....infatuation for that long, I needed to investigate the firmness of other doctrines and within 48 hours I concluded it was all a bunch of BS. It has merely been a trigger for something that had been lingering around for some time.

COC clearly indicates that Jdubs are captives of a concept. If, after reading around this board, you still need more confirmation on that, I would most definitely recommend it.

$3.15 per gallon and rising!
by Outaservice inhas gas prices affected your service time any?
outaservice (who had to quit altogether ) .
seriously, do you think it will affect the good ole society?
-

A Gallon is about 4,5 litres against a 1,10 € / L = 4.95 € /g. That's equal to about 7,50 $. But then again, we don't have to drive 100 miles before reaching the first settlement.....a lot of families here are struggles to make ends meet. Indebtedness is growing. So when things getting worse...we may see more combined efforts. You know the ones we used to undertake when going to isolated/ never preached in territory?
I know of countries where they pay about 1,45 to 1,53 a litre, almost 10 $ a gallon.
thinking about it: the fateful & deceit slave may even devote a entire KM to alternative preaching other than 4 sardines in a can preaching: by bike, foot...

The sole fact that the designation Jehovah's Witness is obtained after babtism the Jdub way shows at least 2 things:
1)they cannot be positively identified as true christians due to their works. 2)Jes 43 which is taken as the basis for the name does not apply since it is a matter between God and in individual, not an organisation and an individual.
To sum it up: load of made up stuff.....

help with a verse
by bite me ini've been reading proverbs, one of my favorite books in the bible.
recently i decided to read it again to dig a little deeper.
it's a wonderful book, telling us how we should live in a way god would be pleased.

By all means NO! Where did you get that idea? No, women make good breeding stock. Good householders, good cooks, etc.
But....eh.....there's one thing though....they should remain quiet, that's all.
O and ...submissive....
and not to bright...in comparison to the local hotshot jdumb.....did I forget anything? I would suspect Mary to know more about this subject.

"secondary worship", obeisance, Jesus
by NanaR infriends:.
i have a question for the researchers here.
i tried to do a search, but the word "worship" brings up way too many posts to filter through.. i remember as a young jw being told that jws render "secondary worship" to jesus christ.
-

Although it may implicate obeisance, the difference in act is null and void.
It really comes down to the intention of the one who does the act of proskuneo. Inferring that any act of proskuneo towards Jesus should automatically be secondary or being translated with obeisance is saying more about the translators than the story.
You may find some very interesting information here: jewish encyclopedia
