The census also shows that almost 75% of the freshmen are from families with a median income of 1000 $. I do hope for them they mean weekly income. Otherwise it would really suck.....Come to think of it.....it would really explain why 75% would say: being financially well off is important.........
Another issue to think about is the type of education chosen: Arts and humanities, Education, Social science are all rising relatively while Business, Professional etc decrease.......hmmmm......these people must be so driven by materialistic goals......True a very very bad environment to have our kids sent to......
It really shows these WTS writers have acquired the ability to think logically.......maybe they should go back to school! My goodness, what did I say!

WT Cult Evolution Over Last 10 Years
by Farkel inhe thought long and hard before he said he didn't think so, but he did think they were a high control group.
now those of you who know alan are aware that he knows more about the wt religion than everyone in bethel (including the gb) put together.
that was ten years ago, but look what has happened since.. about 8 years ago alanf was making a business trip to new york city and he asked me if i wanted a copy of the wt cd rom.

I have been sitting through most of the Sunday meetings and this I can tell: The last 6 months have been really shitty. The drivel they spawn is just incredible. And most dubbs do not see it, they seem not to be able to combine paragraph 3 with paragraph 19. It escapes their consciousness that every single "study" has actually enforced the idea of being submissive to the GB to the extreme.
In my view they fulfil the criteria for being a cult.

By 1879, the tract starts........., I'm tired of talk that comes to nothing. It makes my heart sick when I remember all the good words and all the broken promises.
1879 was a marked year. It was the year of the Witchtower starting to spill more good words and broken promises. And it has done so for almost 130 consecutive years. The list of good words and broken promises is endless. How many hearts and humans have died for these futile and vain words?
The Witchtower better had taken note of the words following that partial (as always) quote: "There has been too much talking by men who had no right to talk."
I also do like the following ones:
"It does not require many words to speak the truth."
"We do not want churches because they will teach us to quarrel about God, as the Catholics and Protestants do. We do not want that...We may quarrel with men about things on earth, but we never quarrel about the Great Spirit."

Is it not funny: Satan the all time champion of human consciousness.......
God as the all time champion of "free choice but if you do not do as I tell you to I will make your life a hell and finally kill you and your offspring".

The Watchtower Society is drop dead gorgeous.
by edmond dantes insometimes in my mind i go back to the beginning of my jw experience which for me was a very long time ago when i got really excited when the awake and watchtower came through the letter box after i paid for a yearly subscription, just to cover the printing costs you understand.in those far off days long gone in my gullible inexperienced just finished school days i really thought here was a religion to believe in ,to trust,to tell the entire world about and to show others the pretty pictures of the new world as depicted in the books and magazines.at that time i would have literally given my life in order to get through armaggedon.i really thought it was the greatest and only true religion on the planet and in my naive young mind i thought we were living with all the other brothers and sisters in a truly new world society,no more fighting for your countries wars,no more adultary, lying ,cheating, envy, money grabbing, murder etc.just the thought of holding on untill the big a .
and i couldn't for the life of me see why everyone who i spoke to about it wouldn't believe in the message of the watchtower.i thought the assemblies depicted how we would all get along with love in the new world.thats how daft i was.. then one day a seed of doubt entered my mind which at first i dismissed as the devil leading me astray this devil concept was also backed up by a brother , a congregational overseer, telling me it was so.i thought he was right until i discovered that due to his doubts he had stopped going to the meetings ,and then i was introduced to another brother who was classed as spiritually week even though he had refused to go into the millitary and went to prison, he came out of prison with doubts about the so called truth.i thought to myself how can someone be so convinced about his beliefs that he would go to prison for it and then suddenly realise he had been wrong.. then i gradually grew wiser and older ,the scales began to drop from eyes as i witnessed at first hand a hell of a lot of hypocrisy within the so called clean organisation.i went on to learn about beth sarim and the many changes of doctrine which resulted in new light and many, many examples of the lack of true love and care within the so called new world society.
all they were interested in was how many hours you managed to put in each week and whether you were in the clique.the list of reasons not to believe grew endless until at last just as you can fall out of love with someone the love evaporated it just vanished into thin air never to return, and i wonder sometimes where does love go when it drops down dead.. and i realise that without true substance being in love with something or for that matter someone is a figment of the mind.. .

Do you have tofu recipe?
by asilentone ini just bought tofu recently, i thought i would try it, so i would like to have a very simple tofu recipe.
many thanks!

You may try to make Gado Gado.
The tofu is sliced and fried and leave it cool off.
Make yourself some nice peanut sauce (slice and hack an onion, heat up some oil, fry the onion glazy, put peanut butter in there, little bit of cooked water just to get it more creamy, bit of brown sugar, bit of lemon juice and sambal as much as you like, or use spanish peppers or cayenapepper and ginger), boil eggs (hard but not green/ blue) boil ketan rice, nice sticky and cut cubes.
Get some pepinos or cumcumbers. Slice them, and leave them in some lemon juice and a bit of sambal.
Get some common green beans, boil it and leave it to cool off.
Take some Mung bean sprouts, mix it with the coled of green beans and make it nice presentable with the slices pepino or cumcumber, the slices hard boiled eggs and the slices of Tofu.
Additionally you could make some satèh, chicken satèh is prefreble given the type of meat. Marinate it in a Manis soja sauce together with five-spice powder (chinese) with crushed garlic and leave it for a few hours in the fridge to pick up the taste, and roast it preferably over charcoal.
The finishing touch = Krupuk or Kerupuk. I believe the aussies call it prawn cracker. You can buy it at any chinese toko but I would encourage you to try the fry it yourself ones. There are dozens of sorts and any color size and shape.
All in all it's fairly easy to make and tastes very good and if you leave till the next day, it will taste even better.....
Have a nice party!

Actually this is very funny. They make up a story and say: Jehovah does that. Thus demonstrating that they make a god in their own image.......one of low ethics.

When has Science Ever been proven wrong by the Bible?
by gaiagirl inthe watchtower sunday made a claim to the effect that when science conflicts with the bible, the bible has always been proven to be correct.
if i had been there, i would have asked "could you provide some specific examples"?.
i'm thinking that reality is actually the other way, science always disproves the bible.

If I am not mistaken the paragraph used the phrase: human teachings. It was also used in the same paragraph were it was exclaimed that scientist who arrogantly argue we scant need of believing in a god. But as a matter of fact: human teachings not only relate to science. It relates to what Dr. Spock says also. Basically, anything humans teach.
Paragraph 19 very simply misapplies 1 Cor 4:6 and thus declaring WTS literature to have prevalence over the bible. Elders do not go beyond what is written but apply it locally and the dubbs have to give them the road.
What is boils down to is this:
1. Any human teaching
Q: Has it been mentioned in the WTS literature? A: Do a cd rom search B: Check the index
If 1 = no goto 3
if 1= yes
2: has it been mentioned positively?
if yes: goto 3
if no: discuss answer with local elder during fieldservice and pray more but forget about it.
3: Does the proponent of this teaching follow bible principles?
if no: discuss answer with local elder during fieldservice and built up appreciation for the abundance of spiritual food , pray more and forget about it.
if yes: goto 4
4: Does the teaching futher Gods purpose?
if no: discuss answer with local elders during fieldservice and built up appreciation for the abundace of spiritual food provided by the FDS, pray more and forget about it.
if yes: goto 5
5: does this teaching potentially disrupt the peace in the brotherhood?
if yes: discuss answer with local elders during fieldservice and built up appreciation for the abundace of spiritual food provided by the FDS, pray more and forget about it.
if no: goto 6
6: Does the teaching built up appreciation for the abundance of spiritual food provided in due season by the faithful and discrete slave?
if no: discuss answer with local elders during fieldservice and built up appreciation for the abundace of spiritual food provided by the FDS, pray more and forget about it.
if yes: goto 7
7: Wait on Jehovah, the FDS and the elders to publish this understanding in order to remain fully in harmony with the framework of biblical teachings including those who are particular for Jehovah's people.
Quite workable is it not? But considering this, it is not very difficult for science to prove the bible and by extension the WTS literature wrong.

Faithful slave?
by Kosonen inwe have allways heard someones calling them selves "discreet and faithfull slave"?
they say that jesus came in 1918 and approved them as discreet and faithful.
many of those were not yet born then, so could jesus have approved them before their birth?

Borgia
Hi Konosen,
Thanks for the backdrop. I'd say, writing six letters without an answer and on the spot disfellowshipping for apostacy, quick and the dead I'd say. Did they try to reason with you?
What did you take issue with?
Anyway, about Matth 24:45-47. Against the background of JW history I would say, don't go there. It does not solve anything. The question is rhetorical and by trying to supply an answer, however unlikely and farfetched, paired to confusing the 2nd invisible presence with the return where all kinds of shit happens, we get into a big mess over which thinking christians have busted each others head.
The passage is used to support and instil organisational thinking counter to everything the gospels wants us to believe about Jesus' teachings.
From a positive point of view, I would expect JC himself to answer that question if he comes back instead of mere humans with all kinds of spiritual deviating ideas.

Incorporated Churches
by golf2 inhas anyone done research on incorporated churches?
if jesus were alive today, would he be incorporated?

Golf2,
I was just pulling a leg here, but pointing to incorporation of a religious org in case the WBTS, is a valid and good point.
In talks with my fil and my brother, I have argued against being incorporated because legal matters have a heavy bearing on process and procedure and the driver is not always clear.
On top, it is not independence that is at stake, but of whom is protection from enemies solicited? Case in point: WBTS soliciting protection of UN/ OCSE and other national and supranational entities. They tend to look for Egypt for protection instead of the source of their alleged strength: God.
Incorporation opens a floodgate of distractions that does interfere with christian conduct.
