oh man merfi - I can so relate to the "funk" you get into from time to time.
I still have moments of it now and then but those moments are fewer and far between nowadays.
Give it time. Just ride this wave and let yourself be "funky" if that's what you need. You are grieving essentially and that takes time to deal with.
Going to those meetings is probably what sent you into this mood. Hopefully you won't have to take the kids too much longer. What if you planned something fun as a family on meeting nights? I know the kids would quickly get over going to meetings if they started doing something fun and built a new social network.

Why Most Christians Can And Do Celebrate Birthdays
by wanda inon another thread they were talking about the lack of joy and mental health problems coming from jw kids not being allowed to participate at class dances, sports and so forth.
the lack of the joyfulness of birthdays is another factor.
why not leave some copies of this in your kingdom halls and assemblies if you still attend.

I never thought I was really missing out on much by not celebrating b-days until last week.
My oldest turned 8 and we had a little b-day party. You should have seen that kids face! She was on top of the world having a blast! It meant so much to her to honor her that way.
If my dysfuntional family had showed me that I was special even on one day a year, I think I wouldn't have had such issues as I got older. -

before coming to this forum, i spent some significant time trawling through kent steinhaugs excellent site to him and the members of that board i owe a great deal for providing much needed information at a critical time.

Welcome Hal!
I am really excited to have someone well versed in science on board. I never showed much interest in science until recently when I've had to face those hard questions about life/god and had to look at other options like science.
you sound like a wonderful man to stick with your wife through this. we all know too well the "lovely people" comments!

It's so true, Startingover
I realized the same thing when we left. The meetings were a fashion show of who has what brand name clothes. It was impossible to ever try to keep up with.
Take your old suits to a consignment store and get some $ for them and then treat yourself to something fun..... -

by UNCLEAR in.

There really is no PROOF that they will change anything soon, but they have changed their views on blood drastically in the past.
www.ajwrb.org
check this site out.....I'll try to find the exact articles I was thinking of. It gives a time line of the changes the society has made on blood. -

Hi
by UNCLEAR inthis obviously is my first post, i actually feel like i may be sick but i felt compelled to post.
only if to just say hello.. my life has been anything but boring, pioneered for years, brought several family members into "the truth", and find myself unable to have studies anylonger because i feel unsure about the stand i have taken all these years.. i was previously married, my husband left the organization for various reason, we divorced and i recently remarried another brother, he is a wonderful man and husband, i care for him deeply we and had been friends for 15 years.
i also have a son from my first marriage who is 4, he is the love of my life, recently my son had an opertion that could require a blook transfusion and to be honest i could never deny him that.

i'm with Poppy on this one.....
If I was LOOKING to get DF'ed I'd try to help as many as I could before I left. I would type up a REALLY well written letter about the 607/un/blood issues and then MASS mail it to every witnesses you know.
you could help one person at least.
