Kind of like Ray Franz being retroactively disfellowshipped for associating with someone who was disassociated AFTER changing the rules on how to treat the disassociated.

Here you go, rundon'twalk:
w91 6/15 pp. 6-7 Soon No More Sickness or Death!
Why Soon?
Jehovah’s Witnesses have helped millions to come to the realization that these promises will be fulfilled in the near future. On what basis, though, do they feel so sure of this? On the basis of overwhelming evidence that we are living in “the last days” of the present system, or arrangement, of things on earth. (2 Timothy 3:1-5) Jesus’ disciples asked for a sign as to when the conclusion of the system of things would be. In response Jesus foretold in detail the escalating world events that have taken place since the outbreak of World War I in 1914. Then he added: “When you see all these things, know that he is near at the doors. Truly I say to you that this generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur.” So some of the generation living in 1914 will live to see the end of the present world system.—Matthew 24:33, 34.km 10/93 p. 8 Using Our Magazines From House to House
1 The purpose of Awake! is stated clearly on page 4 of each issue: “This magazine builds confidence in the Creator’s promise of a peaceful and secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away.” Certainly such a magazine deserves as wide a distribution as possible in our house-to-house ministry!
2 Awake! is an excellent avenue for arousing the interest of people who may not be spiritually inclined. When reading each issue, look for appropriate points to share with others. Some publishers make notes in their personal copy, and before going in field service with that particular issue, they review the notations in order to have specific points in mind to share with householders.
3 We may choose to begin our presentation by making a pointed comment on a subject discussed in the issue of Awake! we are using.
If the householder shows interest, we can introduce the magazine, perhaps by saying:
· “This Awake! article goes into more detail on the subject.” Then read a previously selected sentence or two, and continue: “Since you seem to be interested in this subject, would you like to read this article as well as the other timely articles in this issue of Awake!? If so, I would be happy to leave it and its companion magazine, The Watchtower, with you.” If the householder accepts the magazines, it may be appropriate to say something like this: “Our work is done worldwide and is supported by voluntary donations. If you wish to make a small donation today, I will be pleased to accept it.”
4 If the householder plainly expresses an interest in spiritual things, we might refer to a scripture, such as 2 Timothy 3:1-5 about the last days. After that, in order to arouse his interest in our magazines, we could read directly from page 2 of the current issue of The Watchtower the portion that begins: “The purpose of The Watchtower.” Afterward, offer him the current issues of The Watchtower and Awake!
5 In some territories where people seem interested in specific religions, rather than feature the magazines, you might say:
· “In this community, we meet people who practice various religions quite different from our own. Mankind’s search for God has taken many different directions. [Read Acts 17:26, 27.] Do you agree that people generally follow the religion of their parents, rather than search for God themselves? [Allow for comment.] That is the point made in the first chapter of this book, Mankind’s Search for God. [Highlight information in paragraph 12 on page 8.] Learning more about other religions is both enlightening and educational. This book explains the origin, practices, and teachings of the major religions of the world.” As time allows, show the householder the list of chapters and one or two illustrations in the book.
6 As we go from house to house, let us remember that we have two of the finest instruments in the world for helping people make spiritual progress, The Watchtower and Awake! May we work at stimulating the interest of householders in these magazines and placing them at every opportunity.AuldSoul

World Population statistics here: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/14/101716/1755869/post.ashx#1755869
Drops from 10.7 million to 265,000 within one decade.
Survival of those who saw 1914 who were adult males (per Jewish estimate of >= 30 years old) is 0.
Survival of those who saw 1914 who were >= 19 is < 30
Survival of those who saw 1914 who were >= 9 is 265,000
Survival of those who were alive in 1915 (including any born that year) is 10.7 million.
Drastic rate of decline in numbers after age 90. And the stand that the completely undefined "traits characterizing the generation" would not die out before the end is an insult to the intelligence.

Is recovery possible?
by gcc2k inhi guys.

In my opinion, recovery is a fine thing to hope for eventually but learning to cope should be the goal. Managing the impacts is a step toward recovery. It involves recognizing how you have been impacted and learning to find more productive ways of reacting/interacting/contributing to your own life and the lives of those you care about.

According to the United Nations Population Division, there are about 265,000 persons age 100 or older (that is, who were alive in 1905) in 2005. About 10.7 million (10,685,000) people in 2005 are age 90 or older (alive in 1915).
The citation is as follows: Population Division of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the United Nations Secretariat, World Population Prospects: The 2004 Revision, accessed online at esa.un.org/unpp, Sept. 1, 2005.

Population Reference Bureau ( www.prb.org )Anyone enlisted in WWI would have been at least a teenager, the youngest enlisted man was 16 years old. Those soldiers still alive would be over 106 years old if they were fighting in 1914. By far, the average age of those who saw 1914 is dead.
w54 8/1 p. 478 The Purpose of Your Witnessing
18 There is no time to lose. This is a most urgent message. Time is fast running out for Satan and his system of things, for they refuse to recognize that the “Gentile times” ended in 1914 and Christ Jesus was then enthroned as earth’s rightful Ruler. We are now forty years within “this generation,” the generation that witnessed the eventful year 1914, the generation doomed to experience Armageddon. (Matt. 23:36; 24:34) Make no mistake about it, that final war is a fixed date on the divine calendar, just as sure to occur on time as all the other purposes of Jehovah have. “For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.” “For to every purpose there is a time and judgment.” (Eccl. 3:1, 17; 8:6, AS) Really, it is much later than most people think! At the time this was written, the average soldier who fought in WWI was 67 years old.
w53 2/15 p. 124 When Will God’s Kingdom Come?
35 What does all this mean? Jesus’ words, at the conclusion of telling his disciples of all these things, give us the answer. He says: “Truly I say to you that this generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur.” (Matt. 24:34, NW) He meant what he said. The generation that began to see these things in 1914 will witness the final accumulated judgments of Jehovah God, though some individuals who are part of this generation may die before the end of this world’s system of things takes place.I wonder if this view ever changed?
w85 5/1 p. 4 Is God Delaying His Judgment?
Thus judgment would be executed sometime during the life span of people seeing the first evidence of the time period foretold by Jesus. The start of this time period would mark the beginning of the end for Satan’s world, against which God’s newly established Kingdom in heaven would execute divine judgment. Bible chronology and the fulfillment of Bible prophecy provide ample proof that this time period began in 1914.
Thus before the 1914 generation completely dies out, God’s judgment must be executed. This generation still exists in goodly numbers. For example, in 1980 there were still 1,597,700 persons alive in the Federal Republic of Germany who were born in 1900 or before. The figure would be even larger had not millions of its citizens experienced premature death during the two world wars.Yeah, I guess it did. But, it would have to change even more by now, right?
w91 6/15 pp.
Truly I say to you that this generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur.” So some of the generation living in 1914 will live to see the end of the present world system.—Matthew 24:33, 34.So, we went from "some individuals...may die" in 1953 to "some...will live to see the end" in 1991.
Something many may not be considering regarding the drawing of Veteran benefit checks: spouses draw benefits too. A 45-year-old man marrying a 20 year old woman was not uncommon post WWI. The wife may not have been born in 1914.
Now, the generation of 1914 supposedly has characteristics in common with me. I admit that is true.
We don't have very much in common: I still eat and have normal bowel and urinary functions and almost none of them do, I still have mental faculties sharp enough to work a crossword puzzle and hardly any of them do, I know how to operate a push-button telephone which is a technological marvel nearly beyond the comprehension of the few who are still alive, I still breathe and almost none of them do.
But, a generation isn't really the entire lifespan of a human, it refers specifically to the life-cycle. If we take "genea" (gr.) to mean those who saw 1914 and view that generation as a whole, I must confess I do have some characteristics in common with them. Our skulls and teeth are similarly arranged, we have nearly every bone in common, and most of them have not decayed to the point that all muscle tissue is gone.

Leolaia: It is instead assumed that he had to have been; that is to say, the theory itself supplies the proof needed for the "evidence" to support the theory. That is classic circular reasoning.
I was only going to post one, but you pulled me back in with this remark. It is the identical method used to establish JW chronology and many of the doctrines.
Thanks for mentioning that, Leolaia. I just immediately saw a connection to the WTS methods. Anytime the WTS uses "obviously," "evidently," "It is reasonable that..." or any of dozens of other phrases that amount to "We have no proof but..." dig more deeply and you will find no basis at all.

Suppose The Watctower is Sucessfull in Shutting Down Quotes Site.
by Apostanator inwhat would prevent us from using the same information that quotes currently uses to open up our own site?
the watchtower would come after us and we may possibly have to close it down, then someone else could open another one up.
we could have a field day !!

They do not know it yet, but if the WT does succeed in shutting down Quotes site, they will send a signal that will launch a dozen and more sites of a similar nature in an instant. If they understood the first thing about the nest they are stirring a pine tree into they would realize that a site like Quotes is far more innocuous than the ones caused to arise if they kill it.
They should fear a multi-lingual Wiki style Watchtower quotes site, where editors don't have to wait for one person to find time to make additions and where commentary can be added and edited freely. Far greater audience, far more impact. Why hasn't it been done? Quotes already exists. Who would put that much effort into something that already exists in a form that is near enough?
They should fear some enterprising young group of ex-JW tech-jockeys setting up mirrored server farms putting up Conventions caught on digital video. If you reduce the attendance at Conventions by delivering it in digital format and spike the page with links to interesting sites you can catch the tech-literate who don't care enough to go to the Convention in person. If you catch Convention speakers in outright lies (an easy thing to do, inaccuracy of statement is not uncommon) you weaken the confidence of the listeners.
They should fear ex-JWs who are becoming professionals looking at their abuse of Quotes as cause for lobbying government against Governing Body interests, researching the bOrg, starting grass-roots information campaigns, writing unfavorable legal opinions, etc.
But things like this don't dawn on them until it is too late. When they stir the nest they only invite us to poke more Internet holes in the bottom of the Organizational sieve. I beg them not to let up in applying pressure from the top so the finest materials drain out the bottom.
What does the Watchtower Society fear most? Its own history. They don't want the rank and file finding out when certain doctrines were first decided on. They don't want the rank and file to know there was much greater difference between now and the early days than just the views of pagan celebrations. They don't want the stories told of the illegal seizure of control by Rutherford after Russell's death.
I hope they continue to hide their sins while sticking their foot on the necks of their "brothers." I hope they cut off their brother's air so that he must struggle to breathe. Because when he reaches that point he will find fresh air. He will leave. Like the Pharisees, they are their own worst enemy.
And that's my one post for the day.

How to destroy the Watchtower Organization
by saved in.
destroyed like bankrupt, unable to function as an organized religion, or whatever that will make all jws really wake up and think that this organization isn't what they think it is.. ideas?
-

It is already dead, the adherents just don't know yet. The Internet killed it. As soon as those who are hanging on for family find out that many members of their family are doing the same thing, it folds like a house of cards in a hurricane. Already money is drying up, already seats are empty at meetings, already the elders know many are dummying-up their field service reports.
Jehovah's Witnesses cannot survive the truth about themselves, the Internet is the vehicle that allows everyone to rip off the illusion of Godliness. In every country where the Internet becomes widely available, the numbers start to crawl. It is no coincidence and the top dogs know it spells their organization's untimely end.
And that is my "one post" for today.
