For one thing, the JWs take stuff from the Bible and use it to their purposes. So, some of it is going to ring true on the surface. We are in a very interesting time in history. If you don't believe in the Bible and only look to history you can see the place the US is in the rise and fall of a nation (ie Rome). The government of the world is definitely moving towards a one world gov't. It definitely gives you pause to think, unless you prefer to ignore it and say, "everything is continuing as it has from the beginning." There is lots of info on prophecy apart from the JWs they don't have the corner on the market.

Fulfillment of Prophecy
by daniel-p inok, i'm going to try to phrase this as articulately as i can - i'm not completely sure what i'm asking here, but if you have any thoughts on the matter please comment.
my question is this: do you ever feel like all that wt prophecy about the fall of babylon makes sense when you watch the news or read the newspaper?
sometimes a member of my family or a friend will rattle off on some bit of news they heard regarding the pope or a country's leader that seems to fall in line with the watchtower's take on revelation and i get all alarmed and alert - sort of a subconscious reaction.

It was a real comfort to me when I realized the believers ARE the body of Christ (not just 144,000) It says, "Whosoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. There is lots more information here whether you still have faith in the scriptures or not.. What could this woman possibly be afraid of for you? That you hold the teachings up to the light?
It's important to have supportive people to talk to when you are being emotionally manipulated.Don't fall for it, continue your search. Seek and you will find! Folks around here understand. Welcome!

One less thing I could get df'd for!
by Deleted inwell, if exit polls are grounds to call the presidency just hours into the vote count then i can conclude that in only 3 days of quitting the tobacco habit that this it!.
7 years ago when i left the borg i started smoking cigars, as it went well with scotch, and was deliciously a naughty thing to do after 18 years in the cult(ure).
i started to inhale, as i am prone to do, and then concluded i would be better off with cigarettes.

Congratulations! From what I hear it is one of the hardest things on the planet to kick. When you accomplish this, you should feel proud of yourself and feel able to take on what ever you tackle next.

If you think the JW's are correct on Blood don't read
by skyman inif anyone can disprove my conclussions please send me a letter in my inbox, or if you can think of other points please drop me a line.
feel free to copy and use part or all of this letter.
i started my biblical sereach after i was asked by a brother in my book study group why we could use fraction that was taken from coagulated blood, but can not auto-transfuse {store our own blood for later use} becasue the blood coagulates and then must be poured out onto the ground.

AN excellent post. Thanks, I will file it.I never noticed the script in Lev 17:15, 16, or if I did I must have just put it out of my mind. The bottom line is, will you follow the organization, even if you are shown the truth from the Bible?
The point made, "you don't need to wait on Jehovah", is a valid one, He already went to the trouble of putting it in the Bible. If you don't read it for yourself, the society is no better than the Catholic Church they love to vilify. There is one mediator between God and man, and it ain't a group of old guys in Bethel.

That Downsizing feeling...........
by Sunnygal41 in.
don't know if anyone else in the 40something age bracket have experienced the need to get rid of all the "stuff" that's just superfluous in their life or not................but, thought i'd do a poll anyways.............i want to literally clean house and go as spare as i can.............i find myself being extremely drawn to the oriental or shaker style of design and life............clean lines, colors neutral except for small shots of intense color.............everything as organic as possible...........as little to tie/weigh me down as possible in life.......... terri

I am in the process of this so we can be mobile. It's difficult. Mostly concerning "entertaining" stuff from the kitchen. I am trying to get down to a small pile of stuff to store at a friends and what we need for the road. Clothing is also a problem, cause I have a lot for all seasons and events...I think I will be developing a black wardrobe with a few bright pieces to be as flexible as I can. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I can't believe I read the whooole thing! lol. I enjoyed every moment of it. You are an honest gutsy woman. I really admire you for going through all that. I must say though, it was divine providence that kept them from fully embracing your husband and sucking him in for "good."
Oh, and I just became aware of Alliance Churches this year, never even heard of them before, now I know lot of people via the net who are associated.
Thanks for sharing!

Welcome Mike,
Sorry the year is ending with this bit of hurt. My imput is, don't take it personally. She still loves you, she is just is guilted into behaving this way towards you. Remember the good things she has done for you, and just keep loving her and the rest of the family. You can only control yourself. She on the other hand is controlled by the organization.
GaryBuss, after reading your post I got a much better understanding of where your coming from.
Happy New Year!

Prostitution and Marijuana
by free2beme ini feel that as a country we waste so much time and money fighting prostitution and marijuana use.
not that i think these things are something everyone should use, but the fact that we make these illegal and yet other things happen that are the same thing, or worse.
for example, in nevada, outside the city limits, it is legal for prostitution.
