Having just finished cleaning the house and being able to sit down on my comfy couch with a glass of wine and a good book and knowing that I have nothing hanging over my head. Absolute nirvana!

The warm and fuzzy, snuggly, cuddly thread.
by nicolaou inokay i felt a bit sick typing out that title but having been a wee bit 'prickly' in my last few threads i thought i might try this on for size - not sure how well it's going to suit me.. what makes you feel content?
at peace and restful?.
i just spent the last couple of hours reading in my recliner.

I received a package from my mother today
by ex-nj-jw inmy dub mother sent me a package today, inside was a nwt bible, a picture of me around age 5 at an assembly - i looked miserable and my dad was holding a battery operated fan in front of me, and a letter, here is the letter.
i ask that you remember that i was 18 when i left and i'm now 42, that there is a total of 8 children in my family and there are only 2 that are still jw's, oh and that my mother is a complete nutcase!
dear nj:.

this is abuse. it's emotional abuse. end of story.
I wouldn't accept any further correspondence from her....anything else comes your way, you can write on it return to sender, no longer at this address.
Maybe I'm looking at it from the wrong POV, but I just wouldn't tolerate that BS from ANYONE especially someone who purportedly 'loves' me.
I don't think it's funny...I don't think it's delusional...I don't think it's sad...I believe that it's abuse and it should NOT be tolerated.

Since we're on the topics of the Assemblies...
by forsharry inquestion.
i'm not sure if this has ever been brought up before (probably has) but something just occurred to me...why were there always dubs guarding the donation boxes outside out of the conventions (in the hallways.)?
i mean i know the obvious reason behind it...very north korea-esque if you ask me, but we were told over and over just how special and christian and different we were from the world.... i'm looking for your theories on this.

YOUR Good Deed....
by compound complex inthank you for your help in my time of need.
i woke up thinking of a childhood television program - "father knows best.
" in the episode most memorable to me, the youngest child, kitten (kathy) was sitting on a park bench next to an old man, chirping away in her usual chatty, happy way.

I was kicked out of my house in college, and lived in my car for a week and a half, when one of my college classmates found me asleep in my car on school property early in the morning and asked what I was doing there. I broke down and told her what had happend, and that very day she went with me to my house, helped me break into it to get the rest of my belongings out and insisted that I move in with her, no questions asked. She didn't even really know me other than a couple of classes we took together. She also is a wiccan (not that this really factors in worth a load of anything, but I had just left the Jehovah's witnesses for their LOVE and was honestly shocked at this kindness from a practical stranger).
Needless to say, we're the best of friends, Sisters from other mothers, truly. I love her so much for what she's done for me. It has been returned both ways ten-fold. We owe each other so much, that we will never die. ;)

I did at one time. I wanted my step-mother dead. She was emotionally abusive to my brother and myself.
I don't think I'll ever forgive her for what she did to my brother or myself, but I can look her in the face now without wanting to rip it off. Time heals (or at least smooths over) all wounds.

I have a question
by rekless inwhen you left or was dfed, daed how many people did it affect or effect?.
-
forsharry
I really don't know if it affected anyone. I do know that affected me though. I wouldn't change what I did for anything, but breaking out of the mindset I had been raised to believe was horrific. Doubts fed all of my actions for a very long time, and I couldn't help but wonder if I was truly being bullheaded about it all...or whether I did the right thing in leaving.

They are VERY mellow, and have great personalities. I actually have three of them. Connor is very much like a dog, rather than a cat. He runs to the door when you come home, he begs for food (yogurt is his favorite fix), and lays where ever he darn well pleases. He's very gentle though and you see him jumping in the air into your lap and part of you is like AAAAAHHHH! Cause he's so big....but he lands so gently. Really amazing guy. :)

Connor is a Main Coon cat. He's about 4 years old now. :) He's my big guy at 22lbs. :) Not a fat cat...just a HUGE cat. :)

Fire and Ice - Robert Frost
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.
