I made a big arsed pot of chilli
by John Doe inand now i have to eat it.
the idea was to save money, and don't get me wrong, it'd darned good chilli, but damn!
4 cups of dry beans sure looks like a lot more when you cook them and add 2 pounds of hamburger!

I hear you Palm. I put mollases in my chili, awesome with the bacon sauteed in onions and garlic. Really adds depth and a bit of sweetness.

Or maybe, no one really cares. Of course JWs think everyone should care but they are really peanuts in the grand scheme of things.

The only news outlet I could see reporting something like this is NPR.

My Wife is demanding that I stop coming to this board.
by garyneal inokay, i am in a bit of a dilemma.
since i believe in honesty between marriage mates, i have been telling my wife about this board and my participation on it.
i feel it is only right so that she won't feel like i have anything to hide.

I think the time has come for you to have a serious sit down with her. Everything you say to us here you should be saying to her.

C.O.'s: Why Are Elders Such Cowards?
by metatron inthe stories never stop.
abusive, egotistical, demanding, ungrateful and arrogant circuit overseers all over the place and "men" -the elders - take it.. i have seen a number of these itinerant predators offend entire congregations with their behavior and i can count the incidents where elders actually showed some b@lls and stood up to them on one hand.
why are elders such cowards?

That's awesome Truman. You can gaurantee that he felt way more uncomfortable than you, because in that moment he had no power. Power-trippers enjoy getting people to do seemingly insignificant things as a way to reassure them of their control. It gets them by until the next big power play where they really dominate someone. He was just winding up for the brow-beating session with the elders he went with for service.

Elsewhere is spot-on, but I also think the CO-elder relationship is just another form of the alpha-male phenomenon. The CO knows he is the boss--even the most "humble" know they are the boss where ever they go (except the real world), and that fact shows. All the other elders naturally fall in line, because they know they are not the boss. There are no ambiguities of rank in the JW religion... and that says a lot.

Gun story not in the news
by Deputy Dog inwoman shoots and kills intruder in lincoln county cushing a woman with a shotgun was on the phone to a 911 dispatcher this morning in lincoln county when she shot and killed an intruder who crashed through her back patio door.. .
donna jackson, 56, told the dispatcher a man she didn't know was at her sliding glass door to her back patio about 12:40 a.m. at 352112 e 800 road south of the cushing city limits, said lincoln county sheriff chuck mangion.. she was armed with a 16-gauge shotgun when the dispatcher heard the glass door smash and the shotgun blast, mangion said.. a man identified as billy dean riley, 53, was struck once in the chest and pronounced dead when emergency medical workers arrived, mangion said.. jackson was not harmed.. jackson was home alone when her dog woke her up, mangion said.
she turned all the lights in the house on and then armed herself with the shotgun.

What a vile woman, to coldly shoot a man without even asking about his undoubtedly troubled past, his fears, his weaknesses. Life is so cheap.
I know, surely he was abused in the past, and just needed some therapy.

There's A Ghost At My Place Of Employment
by finallysomepride inok some of you will laugh at this, but it's true, there is a spirit that haunts the premises where i work.. it has spoken to me once when i was locking up, it was 1 single word "hello", i looked around and saw nothing, i ignored it, set the alarm locked the door & went home.
other times i have felt something brush passed me as i have entered the building early in the morning.
the experience that got to me most happened the other nite when i was called back to the store by security, as i pulled into the drive way there was a man standing at the rear of the building, in the split second of looking away he dissapeared, there's no way that he could have run off the property in that split second.. what do you think?.
