Watchtower Sends Legal Notice To local congregations Regarding Coyright Infringement
by booby inapparently it has come to their notice that "some brothers and sisters" are distributing copyright materials freely to the public at large.
the letter to the boe includes instructions that this illegal action is to cease immediately.
further information will be found in the margins of a special book provided for elders eyes only that has been rumored to be sent or has been sent to the elder bodies..

How would someone obtain a living link to this book, if perchance one still existed that hasn't been openly circulated?

leaving - I suppose its all in line with their "streamlining" and not "downsizing"?
beks - It's alright; I need to work on being happy in the moment. Otherwise I miss all the important details of my life. Like watching my 5 month old baby girl grow up!
zoiks - thanks for the complement on my story. Reminds me that I still need to get back to it and tighten it up some more.

No More Bookbags in Service?
by White Dove inevery time i see jw's in service, they are not carrying bookbags but rather plastic holders and small fold over purses to hold them.. what ever happened to the big ol' bookbag in service?.

The WTS has been slowly moving toward having JWs not really being able to defend themselves and their beliefs in the ministry. Those bookbags were filled with all sorts of "tools" to help you defend yourself and wage spiritual warfare, but now, they just want them to read a few scriptures and place magazines or a brochure. They view theological discussion as a waste of time.
The Witnoids ran with this (because who really wants to talk to people in depth about their beliefs) and got on the bandwagon with those little man-purse folder thingies. Briefcases are passe. Except in some territories if I still went door to door I would definitely bring a big briefcase simply because of the dogs.

Video- Jehovah's Witnesses and God's Divine Name, July 2010 Watchtower Article
by OnTheWayOut inthe whole video is good, but notice the point started at about 6:55- wts says other translations fail as victims of traditionalism then later admits that wts uses traditional "familiarity" in their decision to use the name "jehovah.".

I don't understand well why people who are in this forum do such a comment forever.
On my website, it is always linked to that PDF file (KIT, 1969, 1985).But, regrettably, according to the moderator (Lady Lee) of this forum, my website is SPAM. LOL
It's spam because of your relentless promotion of it. But this is really off-topic, isn't it?

Facebook is a menace to the fading JW! (and society in general)
by slimboyfat inmark zuckerberg says that the philosophy of facebook is that people only have one identity.
i think then it's fair to say he couldn't have had jws leading a double life in mind.. i was careful not to add any jws to my page, so i thought i should not have any problems.
i did however add friends and family, including family members who are former witnesses and some who are related to current witnesses.

I first went on Facebook in college in about 2005 or 2006. Back then, it was simple, less commercialized, and the only people on it were college students, so there was no risk of saying something your mom would hear. Anyway, I got a few dozen friends that were mostly just my classmates, but then I lost interest and de-activated my account. Then about a year later I went back and stayed a year or two until it exploded and now everyone and their godmother is on it. So finally I figured out how to actually DELETE my account (not just deactivate; go here: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=16929680703), and I haven't been back since. And no, I don't miss it.
The thing I hate about it is hearing so much crap from my friend's friends, and then being tempted into interacting with them on my friend's pages. Made me realize how many idiots my friend's have for friends. Then again, others were probably wondering the same thing about me.

JWs and Mormon leadership have the same style...
by Aussie Oz in''any latter-day saint who denounces or opposes, whether actively or otherwise, any plan or doctrine advocated by the prophets, seers, and revelators of the church is cultivation the spirit of apostasy...lucifer...wins a great victory when he can get members of the church to speak against their leaders and to do their own thinking.... when our leaders speak, the thinking has been done.
when they propose a planit is gods plan.
when they point the way, there is no other which is safe.

Yes, but in general the JWs are much more strict when it comes to shunning "apostates" or the disfellowshipped.
