One of the greatest aspects of the Internet, and specifically forums, is that we can see that "apostates" have a face, a name, a voice, a mind, a life like us, realizing that apostates are not some homogenous by-product of Satan's wiles. We all have the same doubts because the doubts are real - the "truth" is not.

The Watchtower Society has lost the information war
by truthseeker ini almost wrote, "has the watchtower society lost the information war?
", but decided the war has been won by those who are determined to make known the truth about this organization.. when the internet became available to the public around late 1994, only a few jws/xjws had actually joined; just a tiny fraction of the xjw population.
almost 10 years later, and we have a real information revolution, which was previously unimagined.. with various governments around the world all wanting every school, college and university connected to the internet, not to mention third-world countries to get access to government services and programs, it seemed inevitable that people would see the internet, not just as a tool, but a way of life.. consider when the telephone was invented.

Watchtower Trial Fund-raiser Corporation
by sammielee24 injust googling the watchtower and i came across the watchtower trial fund raiser corp. it mentions a book called 'game over' and is actually quite interesting.
this subject brings to mind the possibility of a law suit re the blood issue and where it might lead.
does anyone know what happened to this book and if the wtbs did sue the authors?

Woohoo! I get to be the first one to call this BULLSHIT.
I don't have time to get into all the reasons, but one is the fact that they are obviously trying very hard to sound legitimate with their forced tough-speak, also the fact that they are trying to raise $$$ based on information in an unpublished book. Either its a hoax or its a pitiful attempt at muckraking by Christian zealots.

When I had this assignment it was divided up as far as population. Of course, this was a very rough estimate - I didn't go so far as to look at city GIS maps or anything. I had knocked on every door in the territory so I had a good idea of what could be covered in a given amount of time. But I certainly didn't define the territory ONLY by population. Other things had to be taken into account, such as walking or driving access. I allowed for a variety of territories, some with lots of dwellings and some with less because then I could reccommend a certain territory to a brother or sister depending on what they wanted to do.

The Time Of The End according to the scriptures
by truth about the last days ingreetings my brothers.
i have put a chart of future events that are to come, aided by the holy spirit.it is for anyone that has an intrest in what the bible has to say towards our future.
we have to start with the long purple line down the middle, as it is written in rev 20:1-15 and 1 cor 15:24-28.there it mentions at 1 cor 15 that "death" is the last enemy.

I think the chart not showing up is much more meaningful than we realize.

Do you like having people Police you behavior?
by free2beme inoften when your in life, on message board or even among family members.
you will get people from time to time, who try to offer some sort of corrective action on your behavior.
maybe they say something like, "i think you should say that differently" or "you topic is something i think belongs elsewhere.

I would rather have someone correct me than not care and allow me to continue doing something that I might regret later.

Made money with a ATM machine
by JH inin our atm machines, we can only get 20 dollar bills out of them, so today i went to get 60$ out of the atm machine and to my surprise came out a 50$ and two 20's.
there isn't supposed to be 50$ bills in that machine.
i guess that the one who filled it up with 20's, accidentally put a 50$ in.. then i came back home and went online to see what i withdrew, and it was written 60$, just like i asked.. there is no way they can find out now.

"to single out issues like this as "evidence" that JWs are unloving or hate kids is just plain silly. Any church, organization or social gathering is going to have some methods for keeping order that are bound to piss off a certain percentage of the attendees."
- Well said.
No elder in his right mind would give a talk about this. Raising children has become an ultra-private issue, as the mentality of "it takes a village to raise a child" has long since been replaced with super-defensive attitudes about child-rearing. In my experience, the only time I have ever seen the attendant ask a parent to remove their child from the auditorium was when the parent was deaf and their child was screaming so loudly that it was impossible for the speaker to continue. This went on for a good minute before the attendant plucked up enough courage. Believe me, NO ONE wants to go ask a parent to take their child to the back room because of noise disturbance - and when directed to do so by a superior it SUCKS.
I can't believe how many people take things so personally - even in such a small matter as this. Why do parents have to be so defensive when their children are not behaving according to the particular social conventions at hand? If its not the JW meetings, its going to be something else - restaurants, theatres, public places, etc.
Please, just don't say this is all "proof of a lack of love in the organization." I'm not trying to defend the JW's, believe me... I just think this is a little rediculous. -

Multi-personalities, sounds good, lets all catch it!
by free2beme ini was in a congregation in california at one time growing up, and there was this weird thing that happened.
this woman in the congregation started saying she had multi-personalities.
basically, she had names for all these people living in her mind and she would change into them at time.

I experienced the MPD wave back in the 90's with family and friends being diagnosed (more often than not, diagnosing themselves). Nowadays it is the "allergic to the 20th century" wave of auto-immune disorders. In addition to polular JW maladies, there is chronic fatigue syndrome and also Lyme's disease which I've seen many people diagnose themselves with.
When I was younger, and trying to make sense of all this insanity in my family, I did some research and came across this thing called "somatization disorder" which is also related to "conversion disorder" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Somatization_Disorder, http://www.cfsdoc.org/somat.htm, http://www.psychnet-uk.com/dsm_iv/conversion_disorder.htm.
Basically, it consists of psychological problems being manisfested in physical maladies. From what I've seen in my own family and in the JW congregations I've been in, in many cases these various diseases attack the same demographic. It is nearly always women in their mid 30's to 50's, have suffered severe psychological stress early on in their lives (abuse, neglect, severe illness), and these women (primarily) often avoid psychological help and instead seek medical (conventional or alternative) help for the latest symptom.
I can surely see why there might be a higher prevalence of these types of disorders among the JW rank and file, as there has long been a mentality that states if you have some insurmountable psychological problem, it just shows that you are spiritually weak. Seeking help from psychiatrists, etc, is looked down upon in the organization. When I was at Bethel, the overall mentality (not had by all) was that if you were unhappy or depressed in your assignment than you just wern't spiritual enough. Depression is VERY high among Bethelites and pioneers - I think the reason is two-fold: For one, that type of service attracts people who feel they can never do enough - a psychological problem that can ruin lives. Second, that type of work constantly deprives people of mentally-productive activity, pride and sense of accomplishment, and privacy. I've seen many beautiful women remain beautiful while serving at Bethel or pioneering because they do not bear children, but inside they become a mental wreck. -

by Thegoodgirl inhi guys, haven't posted in a while, but i don't see this topic covered: is anyone else out there as christmas retarted as me?
i feel so awkward stumbling over the words "merry christmas" to friends.

"We need a christmas for dummys book"
I'm sure Miss Manners has some input on all this.
