i wanted to see if there were some people on here with this disorder, and what kind of symptoms you have/had, so any input is welcome.. i have some symptoms that, from what i have read, sound very similar, but i have never been one to go seeking out diagnoses for myself and am very wary of the pitfalls associated with that.. in any case, i'd be interested to hear from others about this.....
I had bipolar v3.25. Upgraded a few times. Finally, got tired and stopped it. Heheh. Bipolar II? Seriously? Not larffing at bipolar, bipolar 2 a new thing, for me.
From WebMD: "However, in bipolar II disorder, the "up" moods never reach full-on mania. The less-intense elevated moods in bipolar II disorder are called hypomanic episodes, or hypomania."

here is a scan from the dec 15 09 wt (study ed) with a graph of how a witness should apportion their time to remain joyful.. .
so according to this graph, to remain joyful a witness should spend 3 times as much of his waking hours in 'theocratic activities' as he should in secular work!

What's all this emphasis on personal study? As if the average JW has enough hunger for real knowledge that they will spend all that time on personal study? Give me a break. They spend 10 minutes underlining their Watchtowers and call it good for the week.
and then, immediately after babylon the great is destroyed, almost without a break, look at matt 24 :29 -immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.. now in what sense will the sun be destroyed and the moon not give its light?

Actually, i think it could be fun to try and delete certain telling key sections and replace jehovahs witnesses by 'Catholics' or something else, and then see what a jw would think of it.
That would be interesting. I wonder how it would go if someone took one of these talks, replaced all referneces to Catholocism or something, and started to spread it around as a "viral" email campaign to JWs. Then they'd all look like assholes when they found out it was their own GB. And we would laugh like the evil apostates we are.

it isn't 'god' that will provide for our futures, feed the hungry, cure diseases and fight injustice - you and i will do that.

The book of Genesis, in a way, portrays man and woman as becoming gods when they eat of the tree of knowledge of good and bad. The only thing missing, of course, was immortality.
I think this is the single most interesting theme in Genesis... what it means to be like God is knowing the difference between good and bad, and knowing OF good and bad. The latter concept is distinctly different than the first one... in essense, sacrificing good or bad for a desired outcome. Isn't that what the God of the Bible does continually? Making decisions that could be construed as good or bad, depending on the circumstances, for his desired outcome?
To be frank, it sounds like you are passing up a good opportunity because of a misunderstanding about evidence-based public health techniques.
Go buy a basic public health textbook to read while you're bored at your desk, and read about why environmental strategies are a million times more effective than telling kids one by one to stop eating too many Twinkies. (Or why it's a zillion times more effective to install GFC outlets in bathrooms than to tell people one by one not to blow dry their hair near the sink. Or why it's more effective to install airbags than it is to tell people one by one to stop driving fast......)
It will stave off your boredom for a while and open your mind to new options.
I completely agree with you... and am well aware of how behavior can be influenced by environment (I am, after all, an urban planner with a particular interest in environmental psychology). But my point is that, while I may value such work being done, I personally would find volunteering more fulfilling if it were hands-on and involved human interaction. I don't need to spend MORE time behind my desk.
so i'm sitting at my desk at work when my cell phone rings.
i've been faded for over 3 years now and i'm way beyond the point where i didn't answer my phone and dreaded any knocks on my door.. anyway, i answer and it's an elder from my old congregation.
he went on about how he was pretty much going down his list of names of inactive/ and was wondering if he and another elder could come by for a visit.
People returning to the hall because of the economy? If that isn't a prety superficial reason to get religious, i don't know what is. "I need God in my life because i can't pay the bills!"
