Just got a job offer!
by daniel-p ini am one happy clam!
just got a job offer at almost 10k over my current salary plus another 10k after 2 years.
it's with an agency that would afford me many more professional opportunities, transferability, and promotion potential, and, most importantly, provides excellent benefits and job security and comes at a time when i need an offer since my current company is closing soon.. also, one of the more awesome things is that this job is under the dod, so i can stick it to the watchtower!.

BTS: Yes, this is one of the biggest factors for me. It should be both interesting and challenging.

Cooking a dinner for my wife, taking a jog in the early evening, sleeping in late and listening to Car Talk on Saturday mornings.

Faders are indeed a very large doormat
by moshe insorry, to be so blunt- for a whole day i have watched people here patting themselves on the back- we're a large army, oohh, look out wt, we might do something, well not today or tomorrow, but someday!
maybe, i have to just accept that a lot of jw's who are exiting the kh by the back door will never find a backbone to stand up to mummy and elder daddy.. jw's have a learned ability to see themselves in a better light than everyone else sees them.
ask a jw, if they are a charitable religion and they would likely all say they are, but when pressed to name a charity they will be unable to do so.

Daniel-P- for someone who is such a polished writer, I would have expected an insult from you that would have avoided violating TOS#1.
Moshe, for someone who is such a valued member of the JWN community, I would expect a much more mature, thoughtful, and considerate argument for coming out against the WTS than this thread.

For people who use the OT to try and prove that God is an awful tyrant...
by tec inthe people in the ot made mistakes about what god wanted and expected from them.
some of the laws that were given were in place because they were too hard-hearted to accept anything more merciful.
jesus clearly states this:.

I do feel intense pity for those who could read the Prologue to the Gospel of John and be entranced by its wonder, but who refuse, due to whatever reason.
In my opinion, the only thing in the entire Bible worth taking to heart is the Sermon on the Mount. Other stuff may have value historically, philisophically, or literarily, but out of the entire thing that's the only portion I can say offers a clear antethisis to the archaic war-tribe sentiments of the OT.

March 2010 Awake~Snake Handling
by purplesofa inthis is a scan from the march 2010 awake.
i thought it ironic that jehovah would not want people to handle snakes to worship.
him because it might cause suffering, pain, and even death, but would want his followers to refuse blood that can cause the .

Their argument: "The Bible does not support the idea that snake handling is an acceptable feature of true worship. The Bible says 'God is love.'"
Wow! That explains everything!

Moshe: Without trying to "hit back," I'd say that leaving the witnesses is a process, and some people need to take longer than others. For some, relationships are more valuable than outward displays of disbelief.
I don't think its loving to pass judgment on how other people choose to manage their own exit from the JWs. Not only is it unloving, it reveals an obtuseness of character, where you think everyone can just simply do the same thing, not accounting for circumstances, personalities, strengths, and valuation.

Dramatic posters on the board...
by tresdecu init cracks me up when i read a really dramatic "good bye to jwn" or "im outta here" threads only to see them posting a few days later.
what is the point?
if you want to stop posting for a while, then stop posting........and then if you want to start again, go for it.. are you just trying to get attention?.

Hmmm... what's more irritating: Posts about people saying they're leaving, or posts from people who feel they need to control the behavior of others.... hmmmm.
