Stilla, do you actually know jws who leave tips? I have never seen one do that, though I have done it myself on occasion and been sort of counselled, told to give my money to the wt if I have any to spare.
I wouldn't say jws are the worst people I have associated with, but they are certainly the tightest.

We are both somewhat sceptical, to say the least, but dedpoet's friend seemed almost convinced, unlee he is taking the p**s of course. I think it's just a clever piece of trick photography.

i could underline my watchtower in 10 minutes, tops, and be sure that all the answers were right.
many esteemed researchers have shown that repetitive imprinting of ideas is a primary cult tactic, and i tend to agree with them.
I would say "yes" as well. When you are told the same things over and over again, year after year, they inevitably become "true" in your mind, as you are discouraged from reading any non - wt information anyway. I remember about 20 years ago my mother bought me a Jerusalem Bible, which has the Apocyrpha in it. I know these books aren't part of the Bible, but some were interesting. However, I mentioned this to an elders wife, and she almost blew a fuse. Her husband advised me to either rip those pages out, or throw the Bible away. I couldn't really see what they were so afraid of at the time, but I can now, in the same way I can understand their fear of the internet, or any other media that may contain differrent ideas to the ones they teach. Reading stuff like that might encourage independent thinking, and we can't have that in jw land, now can they?

in the course of my "life story" posts, the life stories of others have, or are, coming, to an end.. first, and foremost, the wife of my youth is now at her deathbed.
she suffered many pains because of my own inabilities to relate to other people.. how i wish i could touch her hand and express my feelings to her...but the constraints of life prevent me from so doing.. i wish her nothing less than the best and safest and most painless passage to whatever that awaits her.. .
and, don whiteman has died.. now that he has died, i will name his name.. he was an integral part of my bethel expectations.

If you are considering taking this step, plesae, for your own sake, do plenty of research about what you are getting yourself into, it's a far bigger commitment than you can possibly imagine.
