I agree, Marvin - but why would the Watchtower bring up the point about "additives" - as obviously, the four main components will not naturally separate without the additives and operations such as a centrifuge?
Doesn't that really put the lie to their argument that "components are a natural consequence of blood"?
(Yes, I know - there is nothing logical about any of their argument on this...)
the latest edition of the free in christ ministries journal contains a very interesting article entitled the watchtower and masons.. drawing upon material from the book the watchtower & the masons by fritz springmeier, it gives the following parallels between the things that c t russell believed and those taught by the masons:.
* both believe jehovah is the most important word being the basis of their dogma, and the name of their god.
* both believe god yielded power to a lesser god.

What was the Watchtower's point in bringing this up?
In other words - why would this matter to them as an issue in their blood policy?

This is absolutely true - it is the result of about a hundred years of false "the end is tomorrow" prophecy.
I doubt that more than 20% of them really, truly, believe that they will live to see Armageddon any more - they are just going through the motions and fully expect to grow old and die like everybody else does.

I think I am being shunned over that thread that I hate.
I believe that the general custom of putting up the tree the day after Thanksgiving (not before) is so that the Thanksgiving holiday (decorations, etc.) would not be overshadowed by Christmas stuff.
Same reason that you don't put up your thanksgiving turkey stuff before Halloween.
I was also taught that the Christmas stuff should be taken down by the 12th night. (It was OK to leave it through New Years day, but not longer than 12th night).
Mai likes to take ours down Christmas day afternoon - which I find just a little too cold-heartedly quick.
i heard about this almost constantly in the past, but it seems that talk about this has died down a bit.

since dec 21 is only a month and a half away, does anyone know of some groups that are pushing for this date?
I believe it will be at least as eventful as the famous January 1st, 2000.
A lot of people in my company got paid good overtime to sit around and watch exactly nothing happen to the computers back then.
