I cant tell you the answer, but notice that the higher up the ladder these positions go, the younger and prettier their wives get! It's just like the world.
We had a DO whose wife died, and before the year was out, he was married to one 30 years younger, who worshipped the ground he walked on.

i had a chance to thumb through the bible teach book (which was a waste of fifteen minutes of my life that i'll never get back ...) and i had a question about the section on family life.
i believe it stated that separation was allowed in some extreme situations (not named), but that divorce was only allowed in cases of fornication..
i was never a jw, but i'm currently watching a jw family member go through some crap in their marriage.
Wow Blondie, thanks for that, I didn't know that article existed and I might want to make use of it myself at some point, as I am legally (but not scripturally) separated, and have a dilemma, as on the one hand I cannot admit adultery (if it should take place ) because I dont want to be DFd.. however I also dont want to make my ex have to wait until I should remarry before he is free, because it's just not fair on him and I dont know how long, if ever that will be!

i was wondering.... my mother and i are working together.
we have a little daycare at home and i see her everyday.
she and i are working really hard to try and get my jw dad to think.. and yesterday she asked him if it would still be okay for her to work with me (an apostate) if she went back to the jws again.
She can work with you, but not have any scriptural discussion with you.

I never get tired of a good debate, I do get tired of people telling me I'm stupid to believe what I believe. Just because you cannot convince someone of what you are sure is true, does not mean they are stupid. It could possibly mean YOU are stupid for believing it. And it certainly means you are a proud person to think that you must be right.
I think back to my days as a JW when I shook my head at those who could not see the OBVIOUS truth! Now of course I am the one left red faced!

Isn't the lack of love so evident when you drift away? I attended a family gathering at the weekend where all but 1 were JWs, all used to be close to me and ALL knew that I am now not attending. And also since seeing them last I have found myself a single parent.
Only ONE person said anything to me about it. I'm not bitter, but when I mused on it, I realised they just all wanted to carry on with their happy little worlds and not have a blot in it, like someone who does not believe any more!
I find it very hard to bite my tongue when people DO say something and would have found it hard not to reply to that email, but my self preservation gene is high! And I want to continue this sucessful fade. But hats off to you for trying!

you keep agonizing about your witness family.
and "friends" ( trust me, very few witnesses are really your friends, since their friendship is entirely conditional on meeting attendance.
It's so hard to fake depression though when you feel this happy
But I agree with you, it's the easiest way out of the back door, most elders in most congregations are too tired and busy themselves to deal with your mental health issues! The odd one will pursue people, as we've seen, but I've known people fade really well so now nobody really is bothered what they are up to.

if i have ever mentioned that i've seen the movies or read the books to a witness in gb, i get the kind of reaction that used to be reserved for smurfs here in america.. i am not naive enough to not understand any discomfort with a school for witches, but this stuff is about as threatening as casper the friendly ghost.
i find the books charming, if a little long winded and formulaic.
the movies, especially the later two, tighten up the plots and jettison a lot of excess baggage.
Well come on... it's magic, spells, chrystal balls, ghosts, Dark arts, dementors.. have you read the books!
I personally love them, and my son has the full set, but I can see why the JWs dont go along with it. I actually tend to forget the smaller 'silly' rules now and it's only when I see my family getting uncomfortable when my son talks about Harry Potter that I remember it's a no no!
I dont feel the Uk is any more or less strict, it's just different strokes for different folks!

i have been busy on ebay the last couple of weeks, and am finding it really addictive.
i know a lot of jws that go crazy using ebay all the time.. i have worked out why ebay is so popular.
for buyers it combines the shopping addiction many have with the element of buying things on special.. selling on ebay is gambling.
Damn, if you can I dont need to worry about any of the other things I do wrong! I'm an Ebay addict.
However.. I do try not to watch the end of an auction, because I just end up paying more than it's worth, instead I set myself a price at the beginning and set 'bidmate' or some other tool to bid for me.

that infuriated me.. i asked my then husband if the mirrors in the mens room were covered..he said no .. next time i went to the bathroom, i ripped the paper off one of the mirrors to check my appearance before i went back out..several women gasped..couple of them applauded lol
I just cant believe this!!! Who makes that kind of decision need I ask?? The old elders who think us women have nothing better to do than stand around putting make up on!!
I thought we were bad, our recently refurbished assembly hall had individual cubicles, none with mirrors and they place a large mirror right out in the foyer so if we HAD To check our appearance it was in front of the whole assembly!!
So i used to make a point of straightening the seam on my stockings, only ONCE a brother came and told me it wasn't appropriate, so I asked him if there was a private mirror and he had to say no! So I asked him what I should do? He said maybe wear more 'appropriate attire'.. lmao.
Makes my blood boil!!
