4/20 - smoke'em if ya got'em
by BrendaCloutier inaccepted origin
, high times magazine, the marijuana-logues, and the straight dope claim that in the early 1970s, a group of teenagers at san rafael high school in san rafael, california used to meet every day after school at 4:20 p.m. to smoke marijuana at the water tower.
one piece of evidence supporting an origin of the term from the time 4:20 is the fact that the number is always said "four twenty" and not "four hundred twenty.

Hey I got married on April 20th.. I feel a lot better about the date now!
This will be the first year (in 15) that I have not celebrated an anniversary. Feels a bit weird, cos of course that was all we ever celebrated.
Made up for it by my birthday and Christmas though..

I may not have been following this right, but weren't you going to move out when you were 18 anyway? So didn't you have plans? Money in place? Somewhere to go? I thought you were just waiting til you turned 18 and going to DA, so this happened a week earlier?
I'm all for helping someone out that is desperate, but to be honest, from 16 years old I had to pay my own way, earn my own money and pay for every single thing I owned. Never had a car anyway til I could buy one myself. Sounds like you have a reasonably well paying job, a LOT of money in trust to you and your an intelligent person. Your mum is being unreasonable, but hardly abusive!
I feel bad for you, but I cant imagine for a minute you didn't think you would be found out sticking your finger up at the camera in your avatar.. What did you think would happen?
Part of growing up

The Big Four-Oh Today...
by Confession inso i'm 40 today.
wow.... not only have i never celebrated my birthday, but my "date-of-birth" (april 20th) has always coincided with that of adolph hitler's and, more recently, the 1999 columbine student massacre.
furthermore my daughter has just informed me that today (4/20) is also inernational marijuana day, apparently to coincide with the term "four twenty," which stands for pot.. anyway, although age 40 has traditionally been one of the major mile-markers in peoples' lives, i feel great!

Spend 10 minutes thinking about what you are thankful for.
It's so easy in this life to concentrate on what we dont have, but when you actually sit down and dwell on what you do.. I find it can change my black mood into a grey one, and before I know it.. I'm singing again.
For starters, be thankful you recognise the truth about the 'truth' and just look here for all the people who care about you!
I am not being facetious, I understand being low and even depression, but I have found I can change my thought pattern if I really concentrate on it.
thinking of you!

Do you still refer to God as Jehovah?
by nomoreTRUTHplz ini am curious if anyone still calls their god jehovah.
when i think of jehovah all i can think of is what they taught me.
it was true at first i felt a much more personal and stronger relationship with god when giving him a name, however certain things they taught forced me to see him as a cold and unloving god.

Firstly I would have to clarify, I'm not sure if I believe in 'a god' anymore.
However, I do not think of god as Jehovah, this stopped quite quickly when I realised that Jesus and all his apostles never did! The WTBS have put the name in the new testamant in thousands of places where it wasn't in the original Greek. Please check this out for yourself, it's quite disturbing!
I did an internet search under tetragrammaton and found some brilliant websites, I will try and look them up for you.
If Gods own son did not mention his name in every sentence, and neither did the people who knew him intimately, I presume it was because they did not use the name Jehovah.
It appears you want a relationship with 'God' so I may not be the best person to ask, but I think Lord, or Father is a much better form of address.

My Wife Just Called Me...
by XJW4EVR inshe found an envelope with my name and "personal & confidential" typed on it taped to the door of our apartment.
i asked her to open it and read it, and evidently there is some evidence of apostacy that they want to review with me this saturday (4-21-06) at 7:30 pm.. the funny thing is that i have not been to a meeting since 1993, the last time i was at a circuit assembly or district convention was 1995!
i know that i have been spotted going to my church (3 blocks from the king-dumb hell).

I had a disagreement with an elder about this, I know of a woman who was not a witness for more than 10 years, but was then seen attending a local church.. so she was disfellowshipped.
Now the scripture clearly says "anyone that says he is a brother" And the guidelines are if anyone considers you to be a witness.
Clearly nobody does, it's pure and simple vendetta. What a waste of time and energy. It makes me feel lke DAing just because at least you know it's OVER! It seems you can never fade succesfully!

What is the best way to be asked out?
by daystar inthis is for guys and gals alike.. how would you like best to be asked out?.
i can't stand the subtle method most women use.
just say you think i'm cute or whatever and ask me out.

Fear of rejection is a terrible thing, and probably stops a lot of beautiful relationships from ever getting off the ground.
In my experience, go for it, she will be flattered even if she is not interested. It can be hard to take if she says no.. but better to have taken a chance!
As for flirting... you're looking at the queen And generally I can get it right and just have a laugh with someone, occasionally I've got myself into hot water because the person thought I was more interested than I was.
If I AM interested, I prefer the direct approach, most men are so busy being shocked, I take their open mouthed expression for an assent and we're out on a date the next night..
I think 'The rules' are absolute hogwash. I've read the book, and it's all about playing games, not being who you are, and pretending to be busy when you're not so he will be more interested.
Well if he's not interested in the real you, whats the point in carrying on with it! I want someone to be completely into me, not some facade of what I pretend to be.

JW urban legends
by Highlander ini remember very few of the details, of when, where and exactly what took place, however a few years ago i was told the story about three elders that were walking together and the middle.
elder was struck and killed by lightning.
the other two elders went to his house to help out his wife and discovered 'apostate' material in their home.

What about the one where a sister works on her own in a block of flats..she calls on a mentally disturbed man who was rude, but she just goes on her way.
Later that day the man kills the next person who knocks at his door, when asked why he did not kill the sister, he replied
"Not likely when she had those two big burly guys with her"
Just makes me laugh my ass off now that I used to get chills listening to it thinking of the angels protecting me while I was working alone!!
Just wish I could see them if they were that good looking....

I'm sure I remember reading that when Richie turns 18 he inherits quite a lot of money? Isn't that the whole 'rich' thing? And the reason he was going to move out on his 18th birthday? Could be wrong, I'll go back and hunt through the topics!
