There is no such thing as Agnosticism. Agnostics do not exist!

it is a misconception to believe that belief or non-belief in the existence of god/s are the two extremes which glare at each other over the fence of agnosticism.

I disagree, without getting into the pedantics of the EXACT meaning of the word.

To the average person an Atheist has definite ideas that god does not exist. An agnostic is not convinced either way.

These are two seperate camps. I am definitely unsure as to the existence of God, I now feel there is not enough evidence either way to sway me, but I am open to a change in viewpoint, especially considering how far my viewpoint has changed this past year!

However I would not consider myself an atheist and dont see the point in someone else insisting I do so just to make up more numbers in their camp. Neither do I consider myself a fence sitter, they are my beliefs. And as someone who has been told what to believe my whole life, I wont put up with that any longer.

Who is your Best Friend?And why?

i ask this because i have a hard time making and keeping friends since i have left.

my husband is my best friend now....but he is my only friend.

i do have some wemon friends, but i don't like to get too close.

When I first left I freted about all of the friends I lost

I can relate to this, I found it hard coming from a large, loving family and always having loads of friends.

I have two very close girl friends who I could not choose between, I love them both for totally different reasons. They have been there for me through thick and thin, without really 'getting' what leaving the org is all about. Last year they did my '1st' birthday celebration and made such a big deal out of it. I thank my stars every day that I have them. Every day they make me laugh. Just yesterday I went on a course with one of them, and she made a comment that had us both giggling like fools for about half an hour. To anyone else it wouldn't even have seemed funny!

Sometimes I worry about not having enough friends, which I know is ridiculous because I make them easily and dont really have enough time to look after the ones I have! But it's a hard habit to shake.

Not sure about the husband/wife best friend thing, I experienced that, and we ended up like siblings. I miss his friendship, but we both needed a 'normal' relationship.

Just want to say that every week I read these posts and enjoy knowing what is being studied and really appreciate the work involved. This week my mother rang me straight after the meeting to tell me about the WT and how 'brilliant' it was. She wanted to bring me over a copy.

It felt so good to say I'd seen the article and just point out one or two things that I was not happy about. Took the wind right out of her sails! Probably she thinks I'm secretly studying but I can live with that!

But what a load of bull this week. Worse than usual. I'm just grateful I only have to imagine the pictures

The Loved Up Thread [Fluff]

it might have escaped your notice but sirona and i are totally in love and seem to have a mutual appreciation society thing going on; however this has not taken place without causing some online problems as some of you might be aware.. both dawn (sirona) and i are conscious that we have hijacked a number of threads given our perpetual state of being loved up.

given the untold frustration we might have caused to some posters we have decided to launch our very own jwd loved up thread.. this hopefully should allow threads to go on being productive without the frustration of people (us) whispering online sweet nothings and flirting and we therefore invite you all to use this thread if you are loved up, have similar mutual appreciation societies or simply wish to flirt with other online posters.

you can even use this thread to dedicate a post to someone who isnt online and who just lightens your life and makes you smile.. please join us and reassure us that we are not the only loved up people on jwd.. .

But congrats to You two loved up ones, You certainly looked it at the apostacurry, difficult to get a knife wedged between the two of you! I'm really glad you have found each other, and also are not afraid to say how you feel!

Sex with your divorced mate scripturally wrong?

lets say youre a jw married couple, get a divorce (unscriptural divorce, that is, so in jehovahs eyes you are still married), then both of you change your minds.

well, not completely.

you both realize the sex was great but your other needs and wants have changed in opposite directions.

I dont particularly care if it's scripturally wrong... although if you are not scripturally divorced you are still married surely? Thats according to my mother anyway!

But it is WRONG!!! ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww There was a reason you divorced them!

i know that i'm new here...and maybe this topic has already been covered.

i keep reading posts from members that make referrence to going to a meeting or going out in service..... holy crap?!?!?

what percentage of the people here still actually consider themselves as witnesses?????

Each to their own. Personally as soon as I found out the truth about the 'troof' I could no longer go out in service. And that is not judging those that do. That day I started my 'fade' and stopped like an engine running out of petrol! Stuttering to a halt.

It's a horrible place to be, I sometimes long for the freedom of being DAd, but on the other hand I know that would close off completely my avenue to my family, and not just me to them, because I could live with that (they already treat me a lot differently) But it would close off any chance of them contacting me if they were having doubts of their own.

I now feel total distaste for anything to do with the org, my mum often passes on a magazine or something and I just dont want to touch it anymore, I dont know what I'd do if I had to sit through meetings! I feel sorry for them, but totally understand their position.

Any Comments on IE7?

i am currently testing this new ie update.

i was wondering if any of you technoes either have or are currently using it?.

is it worth using, instead of firefox?.

Been using it a few days, like the clearer screens, and I THINK it's faster, although not sure how that could be. Dont like the fact my links have dissapeared (I had a few favourite sites on the bar at the top, just one click away) and also dont like the favourites which have to be clicked on rather than just a menu appearing when you organise them into folders.

All in all, think I'll keep the update. Dont see the huge deal about tabs, surely when you had windows open before they showed on the taskbar anyway?

I think you cannot judge someone without walking a mile in their shoes. It's very easy to say it's something you would never do. I was one of those pious people. How could you possibly know that?

I also agree with the point that adultery doesn't occur in a healthy marraige. Personally I was married for 13 years and never so much as kissed another person (as it should be). It was only the thought that I might well die (at Armageddon!!) without experiencing real 'love' that moved me to go out and look for it. I did not want to break up my marraige or hurt the children, but I did feel the need to know. And I'm sure some of you will think that's awful, and that is your right. I genuinely and naively felt I could do this and come back and be a good witness afterward.

Thirdly, no I would not celebrate it, and I highly doubt ANYBODY who has committed adultery is happy about it, unless they are a complete asshole. It hurts people, it hurts you, your partner, extended family.. But on the other hand, no, I would not judge someone for anything at all. That just isn't my place or my right.

What would you say is the main reason why people didn't listen to us?

when i started going out door to door, i was sure i'd bring a couple of people with me to the org.

i knew my parents believed in god and the bible, so i was sure i'd be able to convince them with a few simple verses that we had the truth.

but no, they didn't seem convinced enough to want to study.

Funny, the JW didn't seem to mind spending an hour or more every week or two NOT discussing religion and NOT knocking on any more doors.

How true is this! When I pioneered we'd have 'cup of tea' calls that we knew would talk for an hour or so, make us a drink, preferably bring cake and then right before we went, we'd talk about the mags for about a minute and we'd all be embarassed! I always HATED the service. I used to feel sorry for the people being polite enough to listen.

Unfortunately I can say I have one still baptised from my years of preaching, I did actually get 3, but one has since died, and one fallen away. The only comfort I take from it, is that when I called on her, she was an alcoholic and suicidal, and the Borg seems to have given her some meaning in life!
