Marijuana---Is It That Bad?
by minimus ini've never smoked tobacco or a joint in my life!
i know some regular pot smokers and they're pretty cool people.
they typically say pot is better than alcohol and that it should be completely legal.

"It's OK To Come Here, It's Not Unscriptural"
by minimus inangel eyes said this.
i agree that it's ok to come here and it's not unscriptural.. so, i'm confused.
why would the watchtower organization, the faithful & discreet slave and its representatives, say witnesses shouldn't come onto sites like these?

We've been compared to "poison" but in small doses, we won't killya!
Kinda like psilocybin, small doses can even be fun!

I personally know very little and have absolutely no experience working with it. That being said, a close friend of mine is very much involved and very good. Her name is Dr Karen Grant with OHSU (Oregon Health Science University) and here's a link to one of the programs she's involved with. She's very friendly, down-to-earth and really knows her stuff. Feel free to drop her an email Judi.

Purps, you are correct! As I stated above, I've involved MJ in my life to varying extents from every day to not at all without issue. I wish I could say the same for the damn cigarettes and coffee!
Dinah and Elsewhere, I make sure my lady has "happy medicine" readily available

Contribution of Franz books on your decision to leave?
by Damocles inthe recent resurrected topic on franz' books got me curious.. how much did his writing contribute to your decision to leave?.
for myself, it was another brick in the wall but not more important than any other.
i was a little different than most in that i regularly read anti-witness stuff from the very beginning and never stopped.

I also just read COC after being out for 13+ years. It helped cement my decisions and provided some validation of my thoughts and feelings (I posted a bit on this here awhile back and included more as to my exodus). So it didn't contribute to my decision to leave, just helped me feel more solid in that decision.

Since leaving the borg I've tried a few things and made some of them part of my life to varying degrees. MJ is one of them and I personally have no problems with it. In truth, I find it to be far less dangerous and/or addiciting than alcohol or tobacco. I can honestly say that I've never had problems with "potheads" like I have with drunks or tweakers. As far as religion? Well, this below bit can be applied to weed as well as beer:
10. No one will kill you for not drinking Beer.
9. Beer doesn't tell you how to have sex.
8. Beer has never caused a major war.
7. They don't force Beer on minors who can't think for themselves.
6. When you have a Beer, you don't knock on people's doors trying to give it away.
5. Nobody's ever been burned at the stake, hanged, or tortured over his brand of Beer.
4. You don't have to wait 2000+ years for a second Beer.
3. There are laws saying Beer labels can't lie to you.
2. You can prove you have a Beer.
1. If you've devoted your life to Beer, there are groups to help you stop.

Do you ever feel bitter...
by Newborn in...that if you had never been a jw you could have been in a totally different, hopefully better, place than where you are now?
both when it comes to proffession and family etc.... sometimes i feel that i never explored any hobbies coz preaching was my hobby.
i know it's not too late for babies or new hobbies but still sometimes that makes me sad.. love.

Ya know, I've considered this over the years and can honestly say "no, I'm not bitter". If it weren't for the cult, my parents never would have met and I wouldn't be here. The same can be said for being raised in as well as all of my life experiences since. Not all have been good, not all have been something I'm proud of later, but all of them have made me who I am. I love who I am and therefore wouldn't change any of the things that brought me to this place. There are millions of things that would or could be different and each of those would have changed who I am rather dramatically over time. Even now every decision I make will have lifelong effects and I'm good with that, it is what it is.

The link is for a video of Swedish comedian Magnus Betner. I found it really entertaining even though it's 8 min long. Definitely worth taking a peak at. As far as WTW's public nudity issues, I agree that our puritan roots in the US have led to some seriously backward thinking and ridiculous moral legislation. Don't need my boys swinging about in public view tho
