Swine Flu
by purplesofa inwell, i was wondering if anyone here has had swine flu?.
i got it last week.. my son, daughter and granddaughter have it now.. jada was sent to the emergency room at the childrens hospitol here yesterday.
her symptoms were bad and she is under two.. so they sent her there.. the entire emergency room staff, security etc were wearing masks.. apparently it is getting worse here, the amount of cases.. it was a brutal sickness, i can't imagine babies and elderly dealing with it well at all.. although, i got sick with the symptoms a week ago, i feel very weak and tired and have a terrible cough still.. i read on one site the symptoms being disorientation and confusion, which i experianced.. has anyone here had it, how did you survive it?.

Now I'm concerned. Ms C (my gf) got the shot last week whereas I have not (no insurance). She was telling me this morning that she got some dizzy spells at work yesterday (she works in an elementary school). I hope she's not coming down with it.
Although apparently there's a different flu going around right now also thats' much worse.

WHY am I the last to know?
by babygirl30 inabout 2 mos ago...my parents decided that because i refused to continue my 'reinstatement' process and quit going to meetings - that they were now going to shun me after having regular contact for 10 mos!
i was upset, but accepted it.
although their method was harsh!

Exactly Babygirl, that's why I severed communication 4 years ago. It was too emotionally exhausting to ride that rollercoaster any longer. I'm thinking of trying to re-open lines of communication, but that is one clause that will be strictly enforeced. First time they pull that shit the door slams shut!

How Much of an Impact is Being Made by Young JW' s Leaving the Cult ?
by flipper inwe have read threads where statistics show that 2 out of every 3 people raised as jehovah's witnesses eventually leave once they get in their 20's to 30's and out on their own.
my children and my nieces and nephews are between the ages of 21 to 35 .
out of those 8 people - 4 of them have completely stopped attending meetings .

I'm the oldest of three (34) and all three of us are out and definitely not going back! In cathcing up with some old aquaintances, I know of another family of 4 (mom + 3 kids) who are all out, a family where all but the youngest have left (4 so far), and a couple of random exodus's of individual persons I grew up with. It's encouraging!!

The former Mrs BW felt the same way as your bf and only held back from telling them what fucks they were at my behest. Anyone other than dubs cannot fathom anyone else treating their own family in such a manner.
I still have this issue today as we're not speaking at the moment. My grandparents are getting old, my dad's mom in particular has to be around 90. On my mom's side I've got a few aunts, uncles and cousins who are not in and Grandad is a non-attender (he still believes old school dub beliefs but feels the org has become corrupt and power hungry), so I have means to keep in touch and up to date. Dad's side (my dad in particular) are deeply entrenched in the dubs. Even the aunts and uncles that aren't "strong in the truth" still believe it and won't likely have much to do with me. My main point with all of this is that my grandma on dad's side will likely pass away in the next few years, and all indications are that I won't hear about it until it's much too late. I can't visit her because she's still a dub herself, and unless some other family member (I'm hoping the tenuous relationships my sisters have with my parents yields something) tells me, I mostly likely won't know about her funeral in time to attend.

I was going to say also that the only dubs that would shun me locally would be ones that saw me flying a middle finger and hissing as I passed their Khall (I do this every time I pass one, kind of like holding up a cross for vampires)

Impromptu Survey - 2 Types of Reasons to Leave
by AdaMakawee ini was thinking, not counting those who are df'd for "conduct," it seems to me that there are two type of exjws that leave.
by this i mean the ones that woke up and came to their senses while still inside.
1. those who found doctrinal errors and couldn't stay with the lies.. 2. those who found that there was no love and left because of the betrayal of emotions, and realization that by this fruit you knew they were not the ones, their lack of love.

A mixture of reasons for me. Mostly left due to a desire for freedom from the rumor mill and my dad's shadow. I also had serious issues with the treatment of my younger sisters (1 df'd the other not) by the dubs. After gaining a little distance from the borg I was able to look at it more critically and could not reconcile their beliefs at all. I have the same issue with any religion and now describe myself as an apathetic.

Death: Friend or Foe?
by Narkissos inthe jw and the (pseudo?
)scientific "hopes" of individual "everlasting life" (which have been connected on a couple of recent threads) have at least something in common: they all seem to take for granted that death is a bad thing.. as amazing as it may be to you, this amazes me so much that i don't know even where to start.
of course death hurts in reality when you lose people you love, or in imagination when you anticipate your own extinction.

Since nobody actually knows what happens at/after death, I'll find out when I get there
Not friend or foe, but an eventuality that needs to be accepted at some point.

Jwoods, ya gotta wait for them to fill (I used to work in plumbing wholesale) but you can get high flow fillers that dispense 12+ gal/hr
