  i have this brother who i have had no communication with since 1996 when i left the borg and became the subject of collective shunning.

  Good question TisInYourWishbone,

  I have three brothers and one sister,this particular brother I was very close too as we grew up but as we got older and he totally changed his personality when he got baptized at 16 and stopped being fun and just turned so serious, and I was always seen by him as not reaching out for position in the organization etc,my lack of desire to reach out for organizational position and my pursuit of hobbies made him view me as sus even before I left.

  Anyway one thing I do know is that his real personality is trapped,and I have an incling deep down inside his soul their is a rebel itching to get out.

  as a youngster raised in the "truth", i had my questions.

  but anytime you ask a question that is unanswerable, you are told to just wait on jehovah.

  as time passes, i believe that we store up a number of unanswerable questions that forces one to eventually think about everything.

  I cant select one point alone because there were several questions working on my mind at the same time.

  But one in particular that was important too me and I found particularly disturbing was the way the Governing Body would expect you to do what the Watchtower said as if it was a command from God,having inspirational weight ,but when it came to accepting responsibility for mistakes,false prophecies etc they would quickly back off and talk about being imperfect humans and even blame the rank and file,like it was the words of men,so in other words,they want the mantle but not the responsibility.

  They wanted it both ways.

  wills, loans, etc .

  everytime a new revelation comes to the board, some suggest that this is the big one.

  whether it be the blood issue, the u n debacle, the silentlambs saga, some cryptic comment about jw's and their involvement with churches, it seems like nothing effects the jehovah's witnesses rank and file.

  Just as the old hieratical catholic church and Church of England in time evolved into a different beast,I believe that eventually the WT will evolve into a different beast and soft pedal a lot of their old policies that have got them into a corner,even the Govening body will possibly not be seen in the same Divine light as at present,all the outside expose pressure will gradually bear fruit but not in the dissapearance of the organization but in evolution as has happened in so many other once infamous organizations.

  It may take a while though.
