A fine example of diverting attention away from the the real problem, the article tries to paint the Society in such a flexible and reasonable light and portray dissenters as the opposite when in reality it was the Watchtower that was rigid and uncompromising in demanding its old understanding beyond dispute as truth and anyone who tried to be flexible in their understanding of the term generation would be summarly charged with apostacy for not sticking rigidly to the Watchtowers uncompomising stand,so now they are trying to claim credit for a dilema they put themselves in due to their own stubborn dogma and inflexibility in the first place, and they did not change because thet have had heart to a new flexible and progresive approach, but the simple fact that they had run out of time and the old understanding looked stupid as too much time had elapsed with the essential need to abandon a sinking ship.

Did The Generation Change Silence Apostates?
by Englishman inhere is a paragraph from the1997 august 1st.watchtower re the generation change:.
"recently, 'the faithful and discreet slave' has helped us to refine our understanding of the term 'generation' used at matthew 24:34 and of the timing of the judgment of 'the sheep' and 'the goats' mentioned at matthew 25:31-46, as well as of our view toward certain types of civilian service.
no doubt some apostates would have been delighted if many of jehovah's witnesses had stuck rigidly to the previous understanding of such subjects and refused to progress.

Well done with the letter,
It shows that you are completely reasonable and puts the ball in their court, will they shun someone who clearly does not deserve to be shunned,
Please just let me wish you every best wish and luck with your decision which I am sure is the right one -

I wonder if any on this board saw the documentary 'Witnesses For the Prosecution' in 1996,it was a regional documentary made by BBC Spotlite South West and screened in the South West on BBC2 which would have a limited audience as it was screened at the same time as the major soaps on BBC1 and ITV,which myself and several other exes in this part of the UK took part in,the first of its kind in the UK,the BBC hoped to broadcast the documentary nationaly but apparently the Watchtower lawyers wrote a few hyped legal letters threatening to sue etc that caused the BBC to ere on the over cautious side and not go ahead, this was a shame because in reality there was nothing remotely unfair or untrue in the documentary and the real reason for the national cancelation is a mystery although a National radio version had already gone out on BBC Radio Five Live, anyway I think that if the Borg get the wind that the BBC is planning to do a new documentary they will definately use their lawyers to try to put the frighteners on the BBC and put them off.

Snowless Australia wins winter Gold!!!
by Flip inlet me try to be the first to congratulate steve bradbury for skating a brilliant race and winning australia's first winter olympic gold medal!
which is surprising because the population of australia probably wouldn't know what snow was if it slapped them up the side of the head.

Watchtower retirement program!
by buffalosrfree ini know a brother and his wife, she was a pioneer for many years, and he rather than returning home stayed because "we need you j..." well the congregation may have needed him, another zombie is always useful.
but when i think about how they have to live thier life now, the watchtower retirement for loyal dubs, is welfare, and social security.
it makes me sick they have no children and no means to really get along they are dependent of the government they hope to see exterminated at armageddon.

I for one didnt worry about pension plans or anything for many years after leaving school,I mean I like many others really trully believed that I would never retire in this system of things as we used to say,I mean if you really trully 100 per cent believe something you wouldnt, actually many in the congregation saw preparing for a long term in this world was a lack of faith, anyway, now as I approach 40 it will not be possible to completely make up for all that lost time as much as I try,I mean other decisions like getting a mortgage and home were viwed as unwise long term goals and poinless pusuing in view of the near end,I know one guy who sold his lovely home and moved into rented accomadation so his family coud use the money to help them survive the last few years of the 1914 generation in more preaching, unfortunately it did not happen that way, they eventually spent all the money and now live in a council flat.
Its a paradox that those who condemn this system the most as evil depend on this evil system so much to bale them out with state aid. -

Those who get df'd or drift away but don't know.
by sleepy init amazeses me just how many people have stopped going to meetings or get disfellowshiped yet still believe it is the truth and live under a burden of guilt for many years.. should we not be targeting these ones as they one day in a low emotional state will probably drift back to their "mother org"?.
i know of many people who left the truth even for more than 20 years and then went back.. they in all that time never looked at or came across any information to help them.. one of my friends went out of the truth over 10 years ago( he was not baptised), he then started studying about 2 years ago , got baptised a then within a year left again because he realised it was wrong.yet in all that time before he never came across any info to show it wasn't the truth and now has to go through all the hassle of leaving after being baptised.. so is there a way to target those who have left or been disfellowshipped?.
maybe a web site focusing on them?.

It all goes to show that just because someone is dissfellowshiped or even hasnt been to meetings for scores of years doesnt necessarily mean that they are not a JW in the Primary sense, that of the MIND,I have met several ones who have said they are no longer JWs but on drawing them out a bit still have a lot of the fear and entrapment of the JW mindset in them,I am glad to have been able to help them sometimes in some way to shed some of their shackles and truly move on,unfortunately for ones who have not been deprogramed from the indoctrination often they try to cope by blotting it out of their mind but the deep seated affects of believing deep inside that they have let God and the truth down and are some sort of lowlife that deserve to be shunned and are in line for destruction prevents them from moving on and it cant be blotted out by trying to not think about it,and why so often they go through the humiliation of having to grovel to the elders and sit at the back of the hall suffering the abuse of shunning at the kingdom halls.
How sad!I hope we can help as many as possible.
