Oh my god! They didn't speak English???!!! I bet they had shifty eyes too. Those foreign types with their drugs and prostitution!!??? They are the scourge of red blooded Americans. Oh if only everyone was a Puritan like in the old days! Hyper vigilance is the key to a clean mind! Those filthy Hispanics and their "language other than English," whatever that is. They are so strange and unlike me. They must be shifty-eyed, that's what they are. Shifty-eyed. They're shifty-eyed.

What is the one thing you will never give up no matter how hard times get?
by snarf inwith the talk of everyone trying to cut back and reevaluate their necessities due to the rising cost of products from gas to food, what is the one thing that will never go in your life...a "luxury"item that has wound itself so deeply in your soul you would be incomplete without it?.
my item is a daily frapuccino, those little devils are so delish that i can't even think of going a day without.

Children Who Leave Always Come Back to the Society
by ataloa ini heard this in a car group one day.
a young single mother said she always heard that growing up.
when she left she was adamant she would never be back, and now here she was.. is this true for the most part?.

This is true of cults in particular, cults and drug and alcohol addicts. At some point all junkies (even religious ones) go back to their fix. Sadly, even many who will post on this very topic/thread may one day go back to their opium.

Why we must obey the F&DS - according to this "brother"
by bud2114 insome may have seen this tid-bit being passed around in certain jw email circles.
a "deeply concerned" jw relative (who knows i have soured on the whole jw thing) emailed this to me in hopes that it would improve my attitude.
at first i was just going to thank them for their concern and for the "encourgaging" email, but then i decided i must respond to this.

That email illustrates pricisely the reason the bible was written in the first place. It is a collection of myths and historical fiction that cause a person to shun what they see with their own eyes and reject their own senses in favor of dogma from a book. This gives the official interpreters of the Bible tremendous power over people. It's not justr JWs that close their eyes and say "lalalala," it's all bible believers, every last one of them.

Suggestions for JW Girlfriend?
by Mincan inso i've been seeing this jw girl for a couple weeks now... she kind of contacted me out of the blue (i've known her since i was 4, shes two years older than i) and wanted to hook up for coffee or something.
i avoided it for about half a month.
not really avoided it, but was going to have fun with it when it came, because i thought she was just going to try to encourage me to go to meetings and whatnot.. so, first time she calls me up at like 9:30pm on a weeknight to come over to her house... so i ride my bicycle over and go inside and she and her cousin were getting drunk on alcohol and they started getting me to drink.

yOU ARE DEFINITELY PLAYING WITH fire here. Having anything to do with Witnesses in any setting is bound to bring you grief. I was in a very similar situation, a JW girl living a double life as I was out of it for two years when I met her in a college class. I didn't find out untill the end of our first date that she was a Witness. The whole thing ended in tears. She coerced me to "come back," and after I did, very reluctantly, I was disfellowshipped effectively ending our r4elationship because she waas not disfellowshipped and she coulde not associate with her fiance at that point. Fore warned is fore armed. Be careful dude.

An ex-JW underground railroad system
by Layla33 ini have been thinking about this since yesterday or maybe a little bit longer, but cognac's situation situation really struck me and so many others that are in a situation that seems not only like psychological torture, but where someone almost seems imprisoned against their will through the wts society, it seems to happen in marriages, but not always.. i am a big forensics person, so i was watching some mindless program on television about forensics or something like that (could have even been law & order) and they were trying to find a woman who had "disappeared" and what had actually happened was that a group of people who didn't really know each other, had this silent group who would pick someone up from one point to another, get them away from their abusive spouse/situation, and help them find a job and a place to stay.
it took them at least three weeks to track the person down because each person really didn't know the other, they were just one check off point for another.. and i was thinking, couldn't we create a safe haven for those in those high pressured situations?
i would be willing to help start it, financially support it, etc i am just in the planning, thought process stage, but i would love to have an aresnal of help from others, who could assist people that are trying to break free, start over, and all of that.. would anyone else be interested?

tHIS IS A TREMENDOUS IDEA. i WILL SUPPORT IT COMPLETELY. i HAVE OFTEN thought of developing a fellowship or maybe a fraternity/sorority and provide scholarships and such to rehabilitate ex-JWs or other ex-cult members.

Apply PHILOSOPHY to the argument of the TRINITY
by Terry inthe trinity doctrine is a conceptual classification.
it is not a thing itself.
we don't bump into a trinity in everyday life.
-
Shawn10538
Unfortunately when you try to nail down "how someone knows god is a triplet" a trinitarian will just shrug and say, "You must have faith." Of copurse in saying that they are begging the question, but they d9on't realize it.

What did you think in -95?
by Samuel Thorsen inwhen i first read about wts having "new ligth" on the 1914-generation issue in the newspaper i was shocked.
(some evil apostates had been helpful and informed the paper weeks before i got my november issues of the wt.).
my thoughts was.

Shawn10538
I didn't even notice it, didn't give it a second's thought, untill a friend of mine said sarcastically, "Hmmm, now just how long is a generation anyway? Hmmmm." That friend, an ex-Bethelite and good friend Tilden Berger was largely responsible for me going to Bethel. The last I heard from him a few years ago was he did not want me to call him anymore. Even after I told him that I was no longer in "the False."

I get medical. I have for many years. There are no side effects at all as far as I know. In any case my doctor highly recommends it for my fibromyalgia. Only people who don't know what they are talking about that think there are side effects. It is based as low key said on ignorance and stereo type. It is one of the safest drugs on the planet. It's not even a grug as far as I am concerned. It is an herb. It has been used for thousnads of years for medicinal or spiritual purposes.
