Corinthians does not say that there are good jealousies and bad jealousies though. So if you are making that argument you are going out on a limb and are not going on what the Bible actually says. I can explain anything away off the top of my head, but to do it sticking only to what the Bible says is a different story.

Anybody else noticed this?
by Godsendconspirator in1 john 4:8 ~ "...god is love.
" self explanitory.. 1 corinthians 13:4 ~ "...love is not jealous..." so since god is love, that would mean he is not jealous as well, right?....
exodus 34:14 ~ "because jehovah, whose name is jealous, he is a jealous god".

Awesome. I never caught on to that. Thanks for pointing it out. Proof in the Bible that Jehovah does not exist. since God is love, and God is jealous, making God NOT Love, Therefore God does not exist according to the Bible. Pretty cool. I'm glad I don't base my beliefs on the Bible. This is no problem for me, but it is a huge problem for believers in the Bible and believers in Jehovah.

New US Government Petition re: Cults and Tax Exemptions
by mind blown inthis is on the official us government site.. note: someone was under the impression this was unconstitutional and it wouldn't pass, however, steven unthank replyed that tax exempt status (re: usc title 26 501 tax exemptions requirements) is not a constitutional right and can indeed be regulated by the us government through the irs.
freedom of religion does no mean freedom from tax.

I was just number 38. C'mon people, stop talking about it and act. It took me about three minutes to register and sign the petition. If you have reservations, remember, it's not law yet, it's just a petition to put it on a ballot. It probably won't pass but let's try anyway. We might be surprised.

Who is your JWN BAMF?
by okage ini hope this thread goes somewhere, and i hope i put it in an acceptable category:.
the wts has spent around 130 years in underhanded practices and cult control.
we can all name at least two practices banned by the un as inhumane.. because of the control of information they have within their ranks and their often litigious nature outside of the "compound" walls, every bit of information on here is crucial in ensuring no one who visits jwn falls for the gimmicks and traps the society works to employ.. there are personal experiences that are troublesome and touching through the experience of freedom after years of endurement.

I have commented before that a lot of young people from the ASL congregations are doing street work here in long Beach. They just come out and stand there on the corner of 5th and LB BL. When you go up to them to talk to them they decline saying they are there only to talk with deaf people. One time I asked them how they know they are going to run into a deaf person just standing there on the street unannounced. They say that they run into deaf people "eveery now and then." I told them there are a lot of better ways to talk with deaf people other than just rolling the dice and walking out on some random street corner. they didn't seem real interested in finding ways to actually meet deaf people.
I think that there are two things that make them prefer to just go out and stand on the corner. One is that they can get in a whole lot of hours by just standing there in a large group talking with one another, plus they stay encouraged as long as they are with their fellow JWs. So maybe tyhat's a third reason.
the other reason is they probably think Jehovah is going to magically send them the right deaf people no matter where they stand or go. So they are pretty confident that it just doesn't matter is they use a metghod that is effective or not. Going to the north pole would make just as much sense to a person who believes that Jehovah is going to send them the right people magically.
On a side note, I think it is sad that the Watchtower Society is targeting people with special needs on the selling point that they will be able to hear one day right here on earth. Plus I can imagine that deaf people might miss out on communication through some channels that would inform them that the Watchtower is a scam. So I think they are more vulnerable than some groups, hence, the Watchtower pounces on them and takes advantage of their free labor.

Marvin said, " In your lifetime you’ll have far more opportunities for fornication than need for blood transfusion."
Thanks for the compliment Marvin! I hope you're right! :)

Questions From Thinkers
by Perry inhow do you explain david's graphic portrayal of jesus' death by crucifixion (psalm 22) 1000 years before christ lived?.
how do you account for the odds (1 in 10 to the 157th power) that even just 48 (of 300) old testament prophecies were fulfilled in jesus christ?.
in what sense was jesus a "good man" if he was lying in his claim to be god?.

I think having a conversation about the existence of God in a logical format is premature, since you first have to exhaust all conversations about whether a THING or an IT exist first. A BLOB perhaps. But to jump from zero to GOD skips all the other possibilities and heads straight for the idea of WORSHIP, PRAISE and RELIGION when we don't even have proof of an IT that shouldn't be called a GOD yet, or a THING or a BLOB that is not a GOD. First establish the existence of SOMETHING, and after that is done we can start to anthropomorphize and characterize our THING, IT or BLOB.
