Hmm.. How about "Former Cult Member"? Otherwise Apostate suits me just fine.

"Evil Slave" or Apostate which term do you prefer used on ex-JW's?
by booker-t ini hate both terms to describe ex-jws.
i know most people say "apostate" when they refer to an ex-jw that is an opposer now but some will say "so and so" is an "evil slave" now.
evil slave sounds so "boogie man under the bed" that i just laugh when i hear the term.

by general ini think you are all going to get a kick out of this, .
for those of you that don't know me, i have been out of the organization for almost 4.5 years but i have never been disfellowshipped nor have i disassociated myself.. last night after going out to a nice italian resturaunt with my girlfriend, father, and step-mom,( who never were part of the organization in the first place) my girlfriend and i said goodbye to them and we began the trip back to her place, which is 2.5 hours away.
before we got on the turnpike she said, "that she had to use the restroom and could i please stop off somewhere.

Great story!
Everyone has already covered all the "Theocratic" aspects of the confrontation, but I would like to point out one legal issue. Though its been a while since I took the CCW class, if I am not mistaken, the threat of the use of your gun would constitute a crime. Im not sure if they would know that, but just the same.. fyi

Hey HAL,
Welcome to the forum.
There have been many issues along the way which have required consultation with the cleaner, the window washer or the hedge trimmer to clarify:
Priceless... -

How Were You Affected By Elder/Ministerial Servants/Pioneer Appointments?
by minimus inwere you ever affected by seeing a man or even a teenager being made a ministerial servant or a young man being appointed an elder-----knowing that the person is not really qualified?
you could be thinking, "i can't believe he gets to be an elder when my husband (or brother or father or friend) is doing everything but headstands for the elders!
" when such appointments were made did you see to it that you would not go to that person for direction or counsel?

I never quite understood the concept of appointment of pioneers as if that was a privilege. It alwas seemed to me that anyone that was willing to put in 90hrs a month would be appointed. If there was favoritism it went over my head. It was not like they got a discount on literature or an assembly meal ticket or any other special treatment.
Actually they used to get discounts on literature (if I remember correctly) and food tickets at the assembly were discounted.

What comment will you make at the New Light Watchtower Study this weekend
by jwfacts ingbsjg just made a comment that the watchtower will feature the article on 'new light' this weekend.
what a perfect opportunity for a visiting brother to a congregation (or incognito apostate) to answer with some honest and thought provoking comments.
"i find it interesting that the watchtower criticises some religions for not changing their old doctrines and creeds, and other religions that do progressively change them for having had them wrong in the first place, and yet we seem to be doing the same ourselves.".

I remember a person coming into our hall once and answering in the 80's. He pulled out COC and said something that I can't remember. I don't know if it affected anyone, I just thought oh no an apostate.
Man what a set of balls on them, thats great!
Its hardly a way to make a point though, everyone will put up that JW shield from logic when they think the source is an apostate.

Good for you man. I eat, sleep and breath motorcycles, they are certainly worth the risk.
