Oh I also hated having to worry about hurting everyone elses feelings if I had a beer in front of someone who objected, or listened to music that someone else didnt like. Its nice being able to make your own decisions without worrying about getting grief from some easily offended zombie.

I hated the fact that we were supposed to go around beating a drum telling everyone we could find that we were JWs or else we'd be guilty of... uh something.. It wasnt good though.
I dont think I talked religion with anyone at any job for at least 10 years. Its not the place for it.

What strange things do your pets like to eat?
by Lady Lee inwhen i was a kid we had a small dog that loved spaghetti with tomato sauce.
he was our witness dog that would sit near the table and wait until after the prayer to start begging for food.. the two cats i had for 12 years loved some really odd things.
i was peeling corn on the cob tonight and missed having them pester me for raw corn niblets.

My dog ate part of a roll of paper towels a few days ago, I guess that qualifies as strange.
I'm also fairly certain he ate part of a broken beer glass a week or so ago.

For me it was more binary really, things were true or false and grey area didnt really come into play. Such was my attitude of growing up in such a black and white/good and bad way though. But since we are doing the 1 - 10 thing.
1. 10 -- Even after I'd take a hit to my faith like the generations thing, I'd still manage to convince myself that it was true. That the big A was coming some day and blah, blah, blah...
2. 10 -- I dont feel the need to rant right now, so "10" is good enough.

Would you go back if...
by 24k inwhat if the watchtower announced that they are not god's sole channel of spiritual truth?
along with this admission, would come an apology for all of the misleading and damaging predictions and past teachings.
what if they also dumped the disfellowshipping arrangement, as currently practiced, and allowed for respectful disagreement and disent, on issues such as blood transfusions and military service?

Not a chance..
No offence to anyone, but partially because of their absolute stance on the infalibility of what they taught, it made me take a hard look at religion and the concept of god in general and made me come to some interesting revelations. The WTBTS is largely responsible for making me an atheist. (so I guess they did something good, despite their best attempts)
I never had anything in common with anyone in my hall and never really did anything with anyone there. Even reducing it to the level of a social club, I still would see no value in going back.
Ok.... If they gave back all the money I donated, I might stop by and pick up the check.. That's it though.

Must admit i do still get a small chill when i read stuff like this though..damn religion..how long before i can just laugh at this sort of nonsense without first having a bad feeling.
Once I finally realized that it wasnt true, I dont think Ive had one pang of regret that maybe the big A is still coming. I guess just give it time.
The only bad feeling I get is when I hear my parents talk about this nonsense and feel ill because I dont know how to tell them its all bunk.

Don't Get Caught!...
by Justice-One ini have been successful at keeping my true feelings from my wife and others for more than 15 years.
i came to understand a long time ago that this was just the way things had to be.
but for the most part, i live my life the way i want to live it.

Even when JWD is minimized, you can still see "Jehovah's Witness Dis" very clearly at the bottom of the screen.
Here is what I do to make sure something harmless is displayed in the title of the IE (or whatever) window. (hopefully Ill get this HTML to post right first time)
<HTML>
<title>Something Harmless</title>
<FRAMESET ROWS="1%,99%">
<FRAME SRC="top.html" NAME=topright>
<FRAME SRC="http://www.jehovahs-witness.com" NAME=bottomright>
</FRAMESET></HTML>
Just save this code as an .html file and then use your browser to open it.

Governing Body Is Running Scared
by choosing life init was no accident that the new awake article recently came out with the info that hemoglobin based blood products are now acceptable or a "conscience" matter for jws.
the tort of misrepresentation is about that very subject.
they have actually been an option for some time, but this was not made known to the rank and file in a formal article.

But this one is going to come back and bite them in the butt.
While I'd certainly like to think so.. I just dont see anything really hurting them that much at this point.
While their abandonment of the blood thing will cause some to fall away, perhaps because of the loss of family or friends in the past. Id say these folks are the minority and we all know what happens to those who make a stink about WTS doctrine.
I unfortunately think that the WTS is really bulletproof at this point, though it wouldnt be the first time I was wrong.

Next Step in getting the WTS to release my personal files
by jwfacts inseveral months ago i requested my personal files from the wtsthey refusedi took it to the office of the privacy commission, who sent them a letter requesting the wts send me my informationthe watchtower society refused again saying that they are not covered by the australian privacy act 1988the privacy commission was going to close the case, but i convinced them not to take the wts at their word, so they sent a letter requesting more informationthe wts wrote back that they are not covered, on the technicality that their $16 million australian income comes from donations not turnover.
i just spoke to the privacy commission today and they do not agree with the wts's argument.
they are requesting more information from the australian bethel, and are prepared to put money into legal advice to examine any further argumentation that the watchtower provides.

Do you think they will really turn over a complete record though in the event that they are ordered to?

Big announcement after all DC have ended?
by Quandary ini was told by a reliable source that the organization will be making a "big announcement" at the end of the summer when all the dcs have ended.
has anyone else heard this?
maybe this is the "new light" they have alluded to in recent wt study articles?
