  Hi- New here.

  hello, i've been lurking around for a few months now, finally registered a few weeks ago, and figured it was finally time to post.

  first of all, let me give you a little background so you know where i'm coming from.

  i'm 24, married to my soulmate, and mother to a 2 year old boy.

  Hey sassafras, welcome to the board!!

  This is definitely the place to be for good advice and tips for how to deal with all things related to the WTS. And yes, the people here are actually nice, decent people who care and will help you with any and all questions. They've been putting up with my moronic posts and topics for over a month now and nobody's tried to run me off the board!! That's definitely a sign of good, patient and caring people.

  Stick around, these people really know their stuff!! And if they don't know the answer to a question, then they can help point you in the right direction!!

  I'm looking forward to more of your posts, keep 'em coming!!

  Witnesses LOVE Christmas Lights!

  i don't know how publishers in your neck of the woods veiws christmas lights......but all the ones i've been around since being born into this religion........loves to see all the lights.

  we even used to get a map in the paper that showed where those lived with huge decorations and go see them.

  some entire blocks would get together and do all their yards and we witnesses would drive around to see it all.

  My first date with my wife was seing the fireworks in NYC during some holiday.

  My wife's friend says that at bethel they go to the roof to see the 4th july fireworks

  Heh, my JW boyfriend loves the 4th of July fireworks, too, he watches them from his apartment every year (he has a great view from his living room window). Of course, he wouldn't be caught dead acknowledging the celebration, but he'll still enjoy the visual aspects. He even sent me some pictures of the fireworks. And he didn't grumble when I sent him pictures of fireworks from Canada Day and a civic holiday in my town.

  I think that he just enjoys the festivities without actually having to do anything - why spend money and time celebrating something when you can just sit idly by, claim to be a JW who doesn't believe in such events because they're heathen, sit on your high horse looking down on anyone who actually celebrates and still be able to enjoy all of the visual celebrations?? Hey, it takes all of the hassle out of the holidays when someone else is doing all of the work, right??

  But of course, I'm evil because I have a Christmas tree and some lights up outside.

  Just my two cents.

  Hey Legolas, I'm glad you got your white Christmas!! Looks like there's lots of snow over there now!!

  Over here, we didn't have much snow yesterday for Christmas Day, only an inch or so, but today, there's lots more snow!! I think we're supposed to get a whole foot of it today!! Hey, better late than never!!

  I hope everyone is enjoying the Christmas season, snow or no snow!!

  Nope, no pagan festivities here, just some good ol' fashioned Christmas celebrations - lots of time with family, a beautiful Christmas Eve church service, lots of good food and good company, and some very generous gift-giving. My family and I are having a very good Christmas, I hope everyone out there is, too!!

  i have been studying with the jw for just over 3 years.i have always believed in god and the bible.

  the path my life took ended up with me being a single parent of 4 children.. the jws led me down the path of the "truth".

  my grandmother disowned me and i just couldnt understand why.i was told that satan was lurking round every corner trying to get me away from god.

  Nice post, Shootist. I agree, God is love, not an insane bunch of restrictions put together by some old men in Brooklyn. I'm not a JW, nor have I ever been, and so I grew up with a loving, caring God, not a vengeful, angry God, and I hold on to that belief. God loves us unconditionally and He will forgive us our sins if we ask for it. We are not accountable to some earthly organization like the WTS, we are accountable to Him and only Him.

  Lunarlara, you deserve a personal relationship with God, but you won't get that with the WTS. Stand your ground and don't budge. You'll be so much better off without the WTS in your life, and you'll save your children a life of misery as JWs. Don't be afraid of the JWs, hold on to your beliefs and don't let them sway you. Your faith is more important in you life than the WTS.

  Struggling in a relationship with a JW

  i have a boyfriend of four years who is a jehovah's witness.

  i had no idea what it was when i met him.

  his parents recently got divorced and he is living with his mom who is jehovah.

  Like GBL said, RUN LIKE HELL AND DON'T LOOK BACK!!

  OK, so maybe that makes me a hypocrite - I've been dating an inactive, unbaptized JW for 7 months, and I haven't run away from him yet - but it's the best advice I have. From what I can see, relationships between JWs and non-JWs rarely work out well, so your best bet, and mine, too, is to drop the relationship like a bad habit and run like hell. I'm still working on the running part, but I'm sure I'll get there eventually, and so should you.

  And welcome to the board. Stick around, this place is full of great people and good advice. Ask anything, the people here will give you some of the best, clearest and most blunt advice you'll find anywhere, and believe me, you'll really appreciate it even if it's not what you want to hear. They tell it like it is, no sugarcoating here.

  Here on the east coast of Newfoundland, we're getting our first white Christmas in a couple of years - there isn't much snow, but there's enough to make it white!!

  The weather here is beautiful here today - a layer of snow on the ground, the temperature is around freezing or just below and the sun is shining!! Perfect Christmas Day weather!!

  Hey Odrade, go find my JW boyfriend and spread some Christmas cheer, will ya?? That man is greener than the Grinch and hates Christmas twice as much. I'm still kinda hoping for a Grinch-like change of heart in him, but his heart is ice-cold in December, even if Oregon isn't!! Hmm, "might be that his head isn't screwed on just right"...

  WTS vs Quotes: Requiem for a Research Web Site

  in compliance with the terms of a settlement agreement, my information and research web site, http://quotes.watchtower.ca, is now "dark".

  the domain "watchtower.ca" has been transferred to wts (i assume they will have it pointing to borg.org watchtower.org asap).

  my copies of the site have been destroyed, the files deleted, and my wt library cd has been destroyed, in accordance with the settlement agreement which will afford a "discontinuance" of their suit against me.

  That was one great website, I browsed it frequently in my research, I loved how it didn't have any conclusions, that was left up to the reader. If someone has a copy of it, can they PM me?? I'd really like a whole copy of that website!!

  Quotes, hats off to you and your efforts, even if they were thwarted by the WTS, evil bastards. You got the word out, though, and we won't forget that. Your efforts weren't in vain!!

  Merry Christmas from Newfoundland!! It's actually around 2:30am on Christmas Day here right now, I should go to bed or Santa won't come!!

  I hope everyone has a great Christmas, no matter how you choose to celebrate!!

  And an extra-special Merry Christmas to everyone in Oregon. My JW boyfriend is from Oregon, just outside Portland (anyone ever been to Beaverton??), but he refuses to let me wish him a Merry Christmas, so here, I can wish all of Oregon a very Merry Christmas and there's nothing he can do about it!!
