  Just want to gain insight on the overall attitude of most on here.

  leafing through posts, taking the time out to read individuals' profiles, their topics.

  i like to gain insight, get perspective on what it is like to be "on the other side" i guess you can say.

  Sorry...But I come here for the laughs. Not true. I come here for the satisfaction, but the WTS stupidity makes me laugh.

  I laugh at how this despicable organization keeps tying itself into knots trying to control it's members and how it keeps trying to come with a prophesy that comes true. It couldn't find it's own bum with two hands and a flashlight. (But the flashlight is getting brighter).

  I da'd over 30 years ago and my siblings have been trying to punish me ever since. I laugh at them. Now their kids are leaving......Soon those doing the shunning will be shunned.

  Visited my 88 yo Mum in the burns ward in hospital to-day. She asked me "what were they talking about ?". She was referring to this site. It really cheers her up.

  She is determined to live to age 97. That will be 2014.

  i have a question that not many people would understand.

  i have faith that despite how crazy it sounds, most on this board will probably know what i am talking about though.

  i'm on the path to leaving this cult that has been a part of my life for more than 27 years.

  Mate, I'd just get a back-pack, put in a change of clothes, and head off for an indefinite period.

  South-East Asia is fun. It's cheap. Heaps of other folk like you from all over the world that you will bump into. Some of them are very pretty.

  It would give you a whole new perspective on this incredible world we live in. It will give you an empathy towards other that the WTS never teaches. It will make you appreciate what a wonderful life you have at home. You will never complain about your circumstances again. (Stay off the tourist routes - don't be a tourist, be a traveller).

  Get a business card with you photo and contact addresses. Give them to everyone and you will never be lonely again for years.

  Mate, after 6 -12 months of gastritis, fascinating people, sleeping in scary places, viewing incredible things you will eventually come home full of awe and appreciation with many life-long friends in distant lands.

  Then one day it will occur to you..."Gee...that WTBTS is really effen stupid".

  my personal opinion is that within 10 years, the wts will be a shell of it's current (and especially former) self.

  it may not even take that long.

  The predictions stated here range from soon to 50 years to forever in some form. I wish that I could make a prediction.

  As has been stated here before, no-one predicted the internet. This huge force is only 5 plus years old. No one imagined it. It wasn't even mentioned in Bible prophesy. But it has taken an immediate toll on the WTS as evidenced by the 2005 Yearbook.

  More WILL happen. I think that we just can't imagine what it is.

  (I'm thinking of starting a thread on the yet unpublished book by Dan Brown. I understand it is based on a relationship between Freemasonary and Mormons. I have read other posts suggesting such a relationship between the Masons and the WTS. Please don't express any thoughts on this post as this post has it's own purpose. Maybe someone would like to start their own post. Not that I believe it but I just love a good conspiracy, true or not).

  Bizarre JW stories of enduring hardship

  i remember hearing of a faithful older brother who was attacked by vicious dogs while in service.

  even though his clothes were shredded and he was bleeding he continued walking door to door to finish his assigned territory for that day.

  I recall reading in a WT mag, probably 40 years ago, of a person in an isolated South American town who found a single Watchtower magazine.

  That person immediately accepted the Truth and followed it faithfully for very, very many years before actually meeting a JW.

  (I think that Danny Hassard just made a post regarding mental illness in the WTS)

  I'm hoping that it's less than 10 years. My darling 88 yo mother wants to see it go in her time. But I've made her promise to hang on until 2014.

  Good point about the lack of income from 3rd world countries. Inheriting a mud hut in the back blocks of Africa can't help the Society from having to sack a heap of aged Bethelites.

  As previous posters have expounded so well, the WTS did not (and could not) have seen the internet coming. It is the death of them.

  i was in the jw's till about 1999 in perth.

  i sort of thought the advice "never complain and never explain" was appropriate, so i just stopped going to the kh!

  Hi Jon . ....I'm from Brisbane.

  Mate, I heard on ABC radio from a caller that the sun on the Summer soltice appeared a bit south of Perth before it appeared in Cairns N.Q.

  He said that this is caused by our planet's axis being on a tilt.

  He also said that it could be proven by what he called, I think, a shadow map which is used by pilots.

  He reckoned that he had won quite a few drinks from Easterners over this.

  Have you heard of this?

  Also -I just love W.A. beaches. Much sweeter than the overcrowded East coast ones.

  Finally...I really like the way you left the J.Ws. I did the same over 30 years ago. I don't come to this site for information or healing. I come to it for amusement. In long distance hind-sight they are such a funny bunch. There's a thread here somewhere asking if the internet would destroy the WTS. It is really interesting.
