Giving Up The Struggle

i recently realized that i don't know or need to know the answers to the big questions in life.

JW "gods" and Isaiah/John

does anyone have some information about the view of there being only one god and no "gods" to the jewish people of the 2nd temple period?

one part of the article i'm working on compares the mainstream historical and jw views of jesus and the holy spirit.

part of it so far, in one section, has this for the jw view:.

i am 26 , i was baptised at 12 (way to young to make that choice) df'd at 13, reproved at 16, and then finnally df'd for good at 19. i have been forced to leave behind my family and friends, but other than that have never been happier.

i just found this board and i am very happy i have, it is great councelling, and look forward to many great discussions.

A call to all NF's and NT's (Myers Briggs)

ok, some of you may be sick of these personality type issues but here goes.. i've noticed that whenever these topics come up, nf's and nt's come out of the woodwork.

in case you didn't know, these are the minority of the geneal population.

in a random setting you will have only 2 to 5% of n's (infp, infj,enfp,enfj,intp,intj,entp,entj).

I've taken this test several times over the years and I've ended up as an I**J consistently. The middle dimensions are wildcards and depend on my mood, I guess. Last time I tested as an INFJ, though ISFJ seems to best describe me, with a few exceptions.

If the fader still believes in God and some WT doctrine, this board might be a bit much. I know the irreverence here kept me away. I posted on e-watchman for a while. A good alternate is http://www.paradisecafediscussions.net/.

so many people, mostly teenagers, but even adults, especially jw's, experience something similar to this song by tracy chapman.

jw's are like naive teenagers in thinking marriage will be a cure all for their depression and loneliness.

This song used to make me sad, and reminded me of my sister, who was married to a bum who didn't want to work. It doesn't anymore because she's finally divorcing him. :-)

name some things that you miss from when you were younger, lets take a walk down a different path, called memory lane!!!!!.

it ought to be interesting reading everyones posts and see the age difference and what comes from different parts of the world and usa.. i miss--a time when the world wasn't as dangerous.

i miss--a time of innocense.. i miss--a time when kids could be kid.

How Did/Would You Propose? :)

so i'm going to propose to my girlfriend this weekend!

what do you ladies think would be totally romantic?

Put a little effort into the event, but especially into your little speech.

I like these ideas that YC posted:

* During dinner at your favorite restaurant, arrange with the waiter to have the diamond in a box as one of the choices on the dessert tray. Tell her she is the sweetest thing you know and you can't resist her any longer.

* Create a personal Web page with her name and your proposal with a picture of the diamond in its velvet presentation box, and send her the Web address. Or sit down together to surf for good vacation sites, and visit a site or two before you type in the site address.

* Set a date to go to the movies, then rent ad space for your proposal at your favorite theater. Make sure you have the diamond with you.

*Take her for a surprise picnic at the beach. At the picnic spot, spell out "Marry Me" with stones, flowers or seashells. Put the diamond in her hand when she says yes.
