Agree on Noomi Rapace - she portrayed the characters as I imagined her when I read the books months ago. It will be hard to beat the Swedish version of this film.

I am very fortunate to have a job, but I have no real ambition to move up the corporate ladder. This is a white-collar environment and I'm lower level management. I get the feeling that all people in my position are supposed to be ambitious. When asked about my career goals, I've told my manager that I feel I need to gain more management experience and more business exposure since most of my experience has been in IT, but I've never said I wanted to be an executive or stated specific positions as career objectives.
I do a good job and am well-regarded, but I keep my workweek to 45 hours or less and seldom check emails outside work hours. I keep having the nagging feeling that if my manager has to pick a person to layoff, it would be me, since the rest of the group are all workaholics. I don't know if this is just paranoid thinking or if ambition levels are typically considered.
What do you think?

Would you tell your JW coworker you used to be a JW
by serendipity ini've realized a new employee is a jw, because he likes to leave jw literature on his desk and because he mentioned "congregation responsibilities".
i am debating whether to tell him of my jw past.. the main reason for considering this is because i had mentioned to another coworker "g" that i was raised as a jw, before the jw's arrival.
if the jw tries to witness to "g", "g" might reveal that fact.

a bit of background: I've faded, but have JW family so I attend the Memorial to keep up appearances.

The main reason for considering this is because I had mentioned to another coworker "G" that I was raised as a JW, before the JW's arrival. If the JW tries to witness to "G", "G" might reveal that fact. (I have "tested" the JW, complaining about deteriorating world conditions to see if he would witness, but he didn't, so maybe he doesn't witness at work.)
I don't participate in birthday or holiday celebrations, don't discuss religion and there isn't anything in my behavior at work that would be considered a disfellowshipping offense.
My inclination is to keep quiet, if for no other reason than to avoid getting hounded about returning to the fold. There is a part of me that thinks it's dishonest to withhold the info, but I guess that's part of the JW programming.
What would you do in this situation?

Superman, the Klu Klux Klan, Copyright and the Watchtower Society
by DT inhere is an interesting portion of an article.. "almost too weird to believe: writer stetson kennedy infiltrated the kkk in the late 1940s, and learned the powerful organization's secrets but nobody would publish them.
meanwhile, the superman radio program needed a villain to replace the nazis.. according to mental floss magazine, kennedy managed to work all of the ku klux klan's most secret recruiting and organizational practices into his 1940s radio serial, "clan of the fiery cross.
" and as a result, the man of steel dealt a crushing blow to the racist organization: .

I first ran across the KKK story 2-3 years ago and wondered if it would work with the WTS. I'd love for someone to try this.

I think I've reached that point in life where I hate my job and will always hate my job
by Elsewhere inremember when you were a kid and you saw the funny bits in shows about how someone hates their job and just goes to work to pay the bills.
i think i've reached that point in my life.. i hate my job.. i used to love the work i do... but the way a corporation crushes your soul and leaves you as an empty husk of your former self has finally taken its toll on me.. i used to look forward to the challenges of work... now i wake up, go to work, do what i have to do to get through the day and then go home.. .
it's totally absurd but i find myself literally fantasizing about winning the lottery so i can get my soul back..

Else,
We share a fantasy - winning the lottery. I ask myself what would I do if I won. I'd travel, read, write, garden, take cooking lessons and cook more, learn to play the piano and harp, volunteer (or maybe set up a foundation) and also learn how to paint and how to do other crafts.
I realized that I can do those things without winning the lottery- maybe not all at once, but at least some of them.
Corporations are soul killers. But for those of us who value security above all else (just barely in my case), they're the best means to fulfill that need, with less responsibility than entrepeneurship.
