My 4 year old daughter has declared us JW free!!!!
by choks inwell exactly as the title says...my 4 year old daughter, obviously tired of my dithering has taken matters into her own hands!.
the background is that i was bought up in the troof, and began my fade about 6 months ago.
i had been talking to my daughter about us not going to the meetings anymore and she accepted it very well.

What is happening at QualComm Stadium (San Diego, CA) this weekend?
by Triple A inthe jehovah's witnesses have qualcomm stadium from june 11th to the 13th and the spanish jehovah's witnesses have it the 18th.
what is going on?
would there be any groups there that i could contact to join with or help me start an outreach to jehovah's witnesses?

Hmm, I remember as a child coming out of conventions at that very stadium (then known as Jack Murphy) and being scared to death of those people. I didn't see them very much at allthe last few years I went, but when I was a child they used to always be there en masse.
I agree with what you said, that it really does more to scare people further into the clutches of their religion. It sort of serves as an afirmation that what they (the witness) are doing is right because there are 'opposers'. Like I said, when I was a child I was always totally freaked out when we drove past them while exiting the parking lot, even getting nervous. But I would always steal a peek at what one of the signs said. It was the curious side of me. But it never had the desired effect of making me question. Even after I left, it took me two years to work up the ability to look up information about Jehovahs Witnesses on the internet.

We Are Not on the Low Road
by simplesally insometimes, because we have the jw mind set and jw friends and family, we are the ones who are made to feel guilty or make ourselves feel guilty.
sometimes, we have found our true feelings, we have become authentic.
but our friends, or fringe associates, are not authentic........they are sucking our lives; they are making us feel guilty.. at what point do we say to ourselves that it's ok to move on and see the jw family members are the ones to be pitied?

Is it possible to obsess about the past?
by desib77 ini'm just wondering what everyone's thoughts on this are.
do you feel that it is possible to obsess about the past (in particular about history as a jw) to the point that it hinders you from living a full life?
if you think this is possible, how do you know when the past is taking over?
-

I believe one can obsess too much on the past, although for me, it only seems to happen when i'm going through a hard time. Reading and posting here though has been an extremely enjoyable experience though because I feel like I'm not alone and its fun to just get that past life stuff out and leave it here. Every day I become more and more just a regular member of society.

Hey, as long as you are responsible
I like long island ice tea along with rum and coke or scotch & seven, simple stuff. Although I made this thing with smirnoff ice and apple schnaupps (sp?) the other day that was pretty good.
