Newbie
by blackrose inhello, i am new to this board in a way.
i have been reading messages for about a month now and just got the nerve up to register an account so i can give my "two cents" once in a while.
i was raised a jw, but just recently expressed openly that i do not have plans on associating with them any longer.. anyways, not going to type my story out right now, as i do not know if any one wants to hear it.

WERE YOU TREATED POORLY IN THE CONGREGATION?
by minimus inwhen you were associated in the congregation, were you treated in a way that made you feel like you were a 2nd class citizen?
how were you regarded?
were you the brunt of criticism or were you pretty much well-liked?

When my mom first got in my dad wasn't a witness, well he was never a witness, but later my parents got divorced so I was in a single parent family. I never had any good friends at the hall, I used to stand in the back as a kid and no-one would talk to me before or after meeting, maybe just say hi and walk away. I used to get so depresses as a kid, thinking there was something wrong with me. I had a lot of friends at school though through the years and thankfully my mom was one of those who let me play with the neighbor kids, if not I would have probably killed myself or something.
Not really, I never got that depressed, but it was hard.

JWD a Dysfunctional Place?
by Victor_E inwith the recent blood baths we have seen in this forum it got me wondering of how you can objectively understand it and more importantly not let it affect you if you so choose.
what i write is not meant to be taken as gospel truth since there is no gospel truth nor is it my intention to get on my soap box since i left it when i walked out of the kingdom hall.
most of what i have to say is subjective based on personal experience and i feel no need or desire to debate anyone about anything i write.

Thanks Victor for your post. What group of people isn't dysfunctional? Utopia does not exist. I think thats something we learned in the org when ideals of a perfect society came crashing down around us. But we do get along here, its easy to notice a few who are angry and theres nothing wrong with them being what they are. We communicate with them, we agree, disagree, sooth their feelings or rile them up. Sooner or later everyone finds their way to the "winter" you speak of, or they leave.
Everyone who comes here for a reason usually finds what they need because of the diversity of personality here, you keep what you like and throw out what you don't.
