What-A-Coincidence
Yes Folks. I roomed in a double room with a Bethel Elder at Wallkill. I would come home late at night and I would hear him cursing up a storm. I managed to slip by him and sneak and lock myself in my room.
Overall I would say he was a nice brother, but he scared the be-geezers out of me during his drunken stupors. I was scared for my life a couple of times because he sounded violent. I was ready to bop him on the head with a weight lifting bar.
This got me thinking. There is no Holy Spirit around here. I need to roll out. I mean these bethel elders get talked a lot about the problems at bethel (so that they can handle them) which #1 is drunkenness and under-aged drinking. oooookkkkkk.
- More stories later
WAC - of the almost got my arse kicked by a drunken bethel elder class.

Bethel Downsizing - Management Discussions
by core in.
the spin on downsizing is apparently "go out into the field" yet when the gb initially considered this it must have been presented as a practical problem - too much surplus hr capacity/ too expensive to maintain - or whatever and yet they turned it into a positive matter by stressing the return to the field - all those in such discussions are clearly able to deceive themselves as much as they try and deceive the "flock" - what do you think - did a discussion on a practical problem have to have a positive outcome and how did they twist their minds so as to sell it as such - for years they begged people to stay in bethel service (make it your home for life) and now they cast them out into the world with the thin veneer of "speedin g up the preaching work .. etc".
all those at the top must have been involved in turning this huge embarrasment (jehovah will provide etc) into a positive spin - they should try out for a marketing award "downsizing - the only way to grow!

What-A-Coincidence
ex-Bethelites, disillusioned, discouraged past any sort of local encouragement....spreading either cynicism or insanity
Someone call me???
I was telling my folks how the new KM (last page) talks about spiritual goals. Parragraph 5 talks about BETHEL service in an indirect way. Bastards. I told my dad about this and he said they suck all you got and then they let you go. I said you got that right. I told them there are a lot of angry bethelites right now. Well more points for me to get my dad out of the borg.
Parragraph 2 of that KM is taken out of PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT BOOKS...WT my arse!
Other notes: Headquarters uses SAP. I believe the branches use Peachtree. Their is some other program they are implementing, BRANCH ADMIN 2000 or something. I think it's basically a database that handles branch inventory and other branch functionality.

1st post here, on a journey of discovery...
by kerc inso after a very, very slow process, thinking over things that were stored in a little box in a corner of my mind, i've decided to finally confirm or deny all the doubts i've had about the society.
i'm a 34 year-old married man, work as an it consultant, with two kids, ages 9 and 2. i was "born" in the organization.
so i took everything as true, never questioned anything, and did all that was asked from me.

Dear Warlock,
Most excellent 1st post dude.
I have just lost over 20 years of my life
There are lot that have "lost" more years. I've "lost" 25. I am just starting over. I was at Bethel and served as an Elder and thought I HAD IT ALL. I am grateful for JWD. Welcome to the familiy.
Post away man. This site works wonders.

on another note...if they accept Bethelites now, it won't be for full time anymore ... you get called in and in a year they will let you know if you are bethel material.
bethel service seemed to have been a guaranteed career but that ended in the year 2001.
they will definitely need people but they would get them on a as needed basis.
back in the late 90's it was said, if you make 5 years here you are a lifer.
the world "lifer" does not exists in bethel anymore unless you are a GB member or a heavy. otherwise, you are dispensable.
when i visited bethel after i left it was a weird feeling, you could sense a sadness in the air, a sort of quietness never before experienced, the long Bethelites I spoke to do not want to be assigned anywhere else, some just don't care about their bethel service anymore.

GB tried hard to shoot down SAP but were pushed over to buy it. It was a long project to implement. I mean you need the right servers, you need licenses, you need personnel to train others in the ways of SAP ... i believe Lloyd Mainers helped to push it through. MAJOR PRICE TAG...not only for the software itself but the implementation of it.

Convention Report - Deliverance At Hand?
by daniel-p inso i just got back from the convention - yes, feel pity on me... i had to attend all three days, spend money on a crappy hotel, sleep in a crappy town, sit on my ass for 8 hours a day, and all just to hear about the same old crap you can read in any watchtower.
i didn't take notes because not only would my head have exploded from the sheer boredom and stupidity, but i would be responsible for all your heads exploding as well.
are there any highlights?
