garybuss has replied to my experience of the same happening here after about 10 years! He's quite right I think. Be very sceptical and commit to nothing. Be vague. I'm waiting for my second visit. Regards Pete.

Sudden family interest in our reasons why we are no longer JW's ...
by Curious Mind ini'm curious, just recently it seems that our family are intent on 'reasoning' or 'finding out' why we are no longer interested in being a jw.
what seems strange is how we have been approached by relatives here and overseas with such a small time frame - which leads us to believe that there must be some impetous for this suddent 'interest' in us and our choice, which we made over 10 years ago ... is it just us or does anyone out there know something, we suspect that something was raised at the recent district conventions, perhaps 'new light'!
we are tempted to let them know the full reasons, but (ofcourse) we fear that this will lead to an allegaton of apostacy and our df'g... .

Wars and Reports of Wars
by bigmouth ini don't think anyone has mentioned this before but the liu institute for global issues which is part of the university of british columbia have finalised a detailed report on the the prevalance of wars and all its aspects.the facts show that wars are rarer and fewer and we are safer now than we were 100 years ago.
you can find the main page for the report and then download it for free.
i'm sorry i don't know how to 'link' it directly.for those who want a short 'highlight'.... .

Armed conflicts dropped by 40% since 1992. Deadliest dropped by 80%
International precursors to war fell by more than 70% between 1981-2001
Coups and attempted coups have declined by 60% since 1963
The period since WW 2 is the longest interval without wars between the major powers in hundreds of years
Wars are less deadly. The average number killed per conflict per year in 1950 was 38,000. In 2002 it was just 600- a decline of 98%
International terrorism is the only form of political violence that is getting worse.
The report is highly detailed and shows fascinating line graphs showing the steady fall in conflict.
I don't know what I could have said if someone had shown me this while I beating on about the composite sign. -

My apology to all
by bigmouth ini made the most awful mistake when i posted a comment about spelling and punctuation on the "bible research etc.." forum.
i learned that i can't just post comments about things when people are unaware of my sense of humour and my general nature.
i have spent the day in tears.

I made the most awful mistake when I posted a comment about spelling and punctuation on the "Bible Research etc.." forum. I learned that I can't just post comments about things when people are unaware of my sense of humour and my general nature. I have spent the day in tears. My youngest boys (10 and 13) don't understand why I am so upset. They knew how unhappy I was as a witness and now I even upset the apostates.
Tetrapod and mouthy, you really put me in my place but I didn't mean any harm. I even had one person who said I was just here to antagonise everyone.
I can't apologise enough for the offense I've caused. What is wrong with me? I tried so hard as a witness and failed, now I can't even be an apostate. Do I just need to harden up? -

Lern,to/spel;and "punctuate"!!!!!
by bigmouth inmaybe i'm tired but........at the risk of seeming overly critical, there have been a number of posts on this forum where the spelling and punctuation have been abysmal.i have no problem with the occasional error but the subjects here tend to be somewhat more complicated and it makes it too much of an effort if i have to keep re-reading things to figure out what the missing word was or where the sentence ends.one academic said it was no big deal as even his professors were poor spellers!well i've got news for you guys, if you don't sharpen up your grammer i'm not even going to try to give you the courtesy of figuring out what you're talking about.
.
now,i'm going to have shower and go to bed and i want this thing sorted out by tomorrow.love pete.

144001,I know you are very upset and I do apologise for my trite post.In hindsight it was inappropriate but I was commenting on sixsixtynines post;
"Revenge" is never "decent," and it never changes the facts it is a response to. Two wrongs don't make a right, except in the minds of the mentally ill.
I have a mental illness and my reply (above) was supposed to be sarcastic. Not at all directed toward you.
