This is the most common response by religious groups who live through a failed prophecy.
It usually is followed by an assertion that they continue to be approved by God and that the failure itself was fore-ordained by God to cleanse the group of hangers-on. Most members find their faith affirmed by these events.
Dumping a sincerely held conviction is so hard to do.

I don't question your motives JWOP, it's just that.................I can guarantee you that somewhere, there is a Christian Outreach group trying to 'help' your former members to see the error of their ways and so on.
Sorry, but the 'holier than thou' attitude of religious groups generally is a good description. Belief in their own rightness and a personal relationship with God is a dangerous mix in my experience.

it's been my experience that many witnesses i've known are of native american background and eventually they phase out of the wt's grasp, but not without going through some hard times and deep depression.
several dear brothers i know are out, some faded, one inactive, all going through the same patterns.
and why does it seem more prevalent among those with a percentage of native american descent?.

I started a topic on the subject of African-Americans and Eskimos (Innuit) some years ago and inadvertently offended a whole lot of people.
But I was very naive about racial feeling in America and I think most Americans are unaware of how confused foreigners are of social dynamics within US society.
I hope I'm about to learn something.........

I think it's a fine thing for another site to provide information to help others avoid the WT Society.
It seems bent toward someone looking at the Organisation from a spiritual viewpoint.
For people like me, I would be immediately put off by the word "outreach". It has the instant connotation, to me, of a superior-feeling group of Christians wanting to save me to their own particular flavour of Christianity.
And, for example: "...we pray that our Heavenly Father guides you into His truth through the workings of His Holy Spirit."
That said, I wish them well. There's some good information there.

I accused him of making the mess and not cleaning it. He said he did not make a mess on the stove. There's your answer. And he said the last time the kitchen was cleaned, he did it. Good guy.
I pointed out, that He was the only one here, (he's fully aware of that. Parent/child behaviour on your part)) it was either him or someone was coming into our our all ninja like and making the messes and leaving them. Oooh, sarcasm.
He said, "yea I guess." trans. "Believe what you like"
I demanded he admit that he was the only one that could have possibly made the uncleaned mess What if there was another possibility ?and he refused and said he "did not appreciate me accusing him of lying" That sounds assertive and reasonable
I still know he did it. No you don't, you're not clairvoyant. Why won't he just admit to it? Because he said he didn't do it !

It's Monday I have a busier week this week than I did last week and I won't 'be here to protect my kitchen. Perhaps he'll eat out every night for safety.

i have never had any affection for my mother and this has evolved into full blown hatred.. .
have been to a counsellor for a number of reasons and she described my mother as a sadist.. .
Don't mothers seem to have an extraordinary ability to alienate their sons and daughters somehow? More so than fathers in my experience.
After spending many years in talk therapy groups, mothers came in for the bulk of criticism. And that includes rape and incest victims.
I came to hate my mother too but my wishy-washy step-father didn't warrant any expense of emotion.
I refused to contact her until the day I saw her dead in hospital.
Now I'm approaching her age at death and I have more life experience, I can understand her behaviour a little but I don't need to excuse her. I don't hate her anymore.
JWN can be a good start for talking. Talk to a professional.

we all know that most jw have trouble quoting the bible.
however assuming they give scriptures, does it bother them that the scriptures say something completely different from the point they are defending ?
do they check or just assume the wts is right and it doesnt matter what it actually says ?.
