  sometimes you have a friend that falls on hard times.

  their health fails, they lose their jobs, they spend their last dollar -- whatever.

  they don't have anything good on the horizon.

  jgnat's pastor was spot on in my experience.
  When dealing with 'hopelessness' you're not just coping with mild or reactive depression.
  You probably need the companionship or at least the quiet presence of someone with you 24/7.
  Don't offer too much good advice. Listen a lot. Be visible. Make coffee. Laugh at irony, hopelessness and depression can give you the right to laugh at things that others would find shocking.
  With men, be calm. With women, be touch-feely.

  Should't we own a part of the Kingdom Hall?

  afterall, most of us spent years there.

  many of us took our time and money to build the hall.

  many of us renovated the hall afterwards.. shouldn't the halls belong to the ones who built it and put money into it and who go there regularly?.

  i've only started into my second week at this new job.

  its in another city, but i live in the end of town thats closest to that other city.

  from my drive way to the job is less than 25 km.

  Here's another thing. My wife picks a guy up down the road at 6.30am to get him to work by 7.30. She doesn't start at polytech until 9.00am. Now he pays the half the gas but she has to wait for him if he's late, she can't go shopping or visiting anyone on an impulse and she has to kill time if she finishes early!

  when i joined the jws, racial issues were not really discussed much, other than some mention in the material given to me during my bible study in the "truth" book.

  our kingdom hall had only one dark skinned individual, who is portguese, and one of the anointed.

  i believe that he is now deceased.
