Another poster wrote about the WTS telling people "no job." Well, wouldn't that be good! The Society is going to make some big $$$ from selling Brooklyn properties. They should never have any money worries. The WTS could then build a Waco/Jonestown compound(s) in many places through the world, and invitel the JWs (remaining) to come work there in preparation for the big A. Then, the GB would have absolute control. Sound freaky? Think about it.

Yeah, perhaps the Society is goign to ask for copies of all JW tax returns. Anyone who files with income from partnerhips, corporations, or a schedule C is going to be disfellowshipped (or at least, lose priviledges).
So, how many JWs have IRA's? IRAs invests in companies. Some JWs have 401k or stock options? Those also routinely invest in the employer's company. That makes anyone with an IRA, 401k, or stock option plan to be an owner, albeit a part-owner, of a business! And, one only holds an IRA, 401k, or stock option plan due to future growth of the company. They are looking to be able to retire in this System of things. Therefore, a True Christian should sell off his IRA, 401k, and stock option plans as they hold no real value in this dying System. Better to sell those "assets" and give the net proceedsto the Society. The Society is going to put the money to better, Kingdom use.

Oh, could you ask an honest question to the elder that made the announcement? Please ask him if this decision came from the Society, or just the local elder board, etc.? Be super polite about it. Just be curious.

Personally, I will not see the Hunger Games. But, that's my personal preference. I don't find entertainment in a game of children gladiators, killing other children, until the last one stands. That's not enjoyment for me.
I didn't see Star Wars, until my 40s. Now, I know why. It wasn't allowed.

I went to see the Avengers this weekend. It was just like the comic strip. It was the classic story of good vs. evil, with the evil being the aliens who took over people's minds making them into zoombies that carried out the evil purpose. No Babylon the Great message came to my mind. It followed, in a way, the Wizard of Oz story line, combined with Independence Day. It was non-stop action, that went "on & on & on." Wasn't my first movie choice, but the kiddies loved it.
I kept thinking of Scarlett Johanasson's pants. They were way too tight!

as some of you may recall, on february 11, 2011 the united states court of appeals ruled that most gated communities in puerto rico violated the constitutional rights of jehovahs witnesses by not allowing them unobstructed access to homes and thereby thwarting their right to worship freely.
not sure how the watchtower was able to fool the us court of appeals, but there you have it... the next step in this judicial process is to determine how this needed to happen.. to that end, the us court of appeals has recently ruled that those gated communities in puerto rico that didnt have security guards (i.e.
: have a tele-entry key pad instead) were to hire at least one security guard who would be positioned at the entrance for the purpose of allowing jehovahs witnesses free access to the community.
Nah, there are "sharing" type agreements where the association gives the police the right to enforce traffic and other laws inside the community's private roads. This is not a hired policeman, it's just part of each homeowner's property taxes. The police can even give tickets for speeding, wearing seat belts, drunk driving, helmet laws, etc. There is no distinction between police and private property, if there is an agreement.
But, that is where it stops.
I feel very badly for the communities. The cost of a guard in our community was $300,000 a year for 24 hour/7 day a week service. The cost of that is split between each paying homeowner. It's a hefty pricetag. I don't think the private citizens are going to want to pay for this. It's not going to make for "happy" householders, if you get my drift.

i don't mean this as an insult, more of a life experience thing.
i saw a lot of people leave in my years there and a lot were angry with the religion and the people, and some even protested the kingdom halls and wrote things in the newspapers.
a lot though, came back in time, as it was just the comfort zone they felt at ease in.
I'd say that that could be true, that one could go back. But, not for me. I "see" the cult and cult mechanics at work in the Watchtower Society. Plus, having studied world history, I have moved far beyond the WTS flawed arguments.

Some of the gated communities in the US; have agreements with the police to patrol and enforce traffic laws, etc. I wonder if that is going to be used by the WTS to allow freedom of religion inside the communities.
I live in a gated community. We get JWs at the door. But, they either live/rent here, or are invited in by other JWs who live in the community. Funny, I don't get any Memorial pamphlets. They must not like my house....

Some of the JWs in my area are real estate agents. Real estate agents are usually independant contractors. They, own their own business!
