Your Top 5 - Most Harmful JW Teachings
by Scully inwe all know that the doctrine and dogma of the wts is completely false, so i'm not even going to include topics like "trinity" or "gehenna" or anything like that in my personal list.. but i'd like to see what other people list as their top five most harmful jw teachings.. #5. females in the congregation are inferior to males.. #4. you must override your personal conscience in favour of wts rules, even when you know it's wrong.. #3. shunning disfellowshippedtm and disassociatedtm individuals, without being allowed to form your own opinion or hear their side of the story, even when it is a family member or close friend, this teaching destroys families and results in far too many people taking their own lives from the agony of being rejected by the only people they have ever had relationships with.. #2. forsaking higher education, well-paid employment and planning for retirement.. #1. the no-blood rule has cost more lives since it was first introduced by rutherford than jonestown, 10 times over..

#2. It's not just higher education. The Watchtower robs all facets of one's life. "Put the Kingdom first" means putting the rest of your life dead last. Education, career, hobbies, children, etc. are seen as wasteful pursuits because the world is going to end very soon. A True Christian has to devout his life to the Watchtower recruiting work. Of course, the Watchtower has taught for well over a century that the world is going to end (see 1914, 1915, . . . ), but that is "old light" and one has to accept that the world is really going to end very soon.

New year, same thing. The assembly is, once again, upon the skating rink. I was there today for skating, having a great time with my friends and family. Noon, and the JWs crowd into the two skating rinks, one group around the skating rink with the fancy figure skaters and another group around the rink with the public/hockey skaters. The JWs who came into the rinks had a great time, watching the skaters. Some, brought their bagged lunches. I understand from a figure skating coach, they were wowing when the figure skaters did moves. The lunch bell must have been up, and the JWs reluctantly filed out. A few stayed. The best was a little girl of about 3 years old. Her grandfather took her to watch the pretty skaters. Well, she bursted out crying, "I want to skate! I want to spin!" The grandfather tried to explain that they had to go back to the ASSembly and that was the reason they came. She puckered up and went with him, all the while openly saying that she'd rather skate! Kids are honest.
The JWs still look the same. Many with suits that could be from the 1980's, poor quality but clean. Many young women in super tight dresses with "hooker" type heels! Seriously, I never see a worldly woman with those type of heels. They must ahve been 9", with a platform! The hot, dirty sisters. And, the old bag ladies were there too, looking like I'd rather avoid "Paradise" if I had to spend it with them.
I was good, and didn't directly approach anyone. I just commented to a skating friend who knows my past. We talked about shunning, blood, and cult; right as a few JWs were putting milk & sugar in their coffee about 1 foot away from us.
I guess the JWs will be at the rink for a few more weekends. If any of you are at that ASSembly, stop by and I'll give you a skating lesson. And, please, let that little girl skate.

Judge to rule on whether yoga tied to religion
JULIE WATSON 4 hours ago EducationSociety SAN DIEGO (AP) — A judge is expected to issue a ruling Monday on whether yoga is a religious practice that shouldn't be allowed to be taught in public schools. An attorney representing a family bent out of shape over the public school program in the beach city of Encinitas filed a lawsuit in February to stop the district-wide classes. In the lawsuit filed in San Diego Superior Court, attorney Dean Broyles argued that the twice weekly, 30-minute classes are inherently religious, in violation of the separation between church and state.
Judge John S. Meyer is expected to issue his ruling in the case that went to trial.
The Encinitas Union School District is believed to be the first in the country to have full-time yoga teachers at every one of its schools. The lessons are funded by a $533,000, three-year grant from the Jois Foundation, a nonprofit group that promotes Asthanga yoga.
The plaintiffs are Stephen and Jennifer Sedlock and their children, who are students in the district.
Superintendent Timothy B. Baird said since the district started the classes at its nine schools in January, teachers and parents have noticed students are calmer, using the breathing practices to release stress before tests.
"We're not teaching religion," he told The Associated Press. "We teach a very mainstream physical fitness program that happens to incorporate yoga into it."
Broyles said his clients are not seeking monetary damages but are asking the court to intervene and suspend the program.
The lawsuit notes Harvard-educated religious studies professor Candy Gunther Brown found the district's program is pervasively religious, having its roots in Hindu, Buddhist, Taoist and metaphysical beliefs and practices.
Children who have opted out of the program have been harassed and bullied, the plaintiffs say.
Yoga is now taught at public schools from the rural mountains of West Virginia to the bustling streets of Brooklyn as a way to ease stress in today's pressure-packed world where even kindergartners say they feel tense about keeping up with their busy schedules. But most classes are part of an after-school program, or are offered only at a few schools or by some teachers in a district.
The Jois Foundation says it believes the program will become a national model to help schools teach students life skills.

In the Talmud, Quoron, and Bible, the God of Abraham's law are to be followed for preservation of life. But, it's not to be followed to death. Islamic and Jewish understanding are the SAME on this.
Jewish doctors work on the Sabbath, to save lives. Jewish people will take vaccines made from pigs and horse blood, becuase it is to save lives. Jewish people ate rats to suvive WWII. The JWs have this all wrong, from a Jewish and Islamic stance on the God of Abraham's laws.

by goatshapeddemon inso, unexpectedly, the final talk was announced today and to my surprise and evil glee, they announced gerrit loesch as the speaker!
first off, at the beginning of his talk, he interrupted himself in the middle of his sentence to scold the microphone brother to lower my mike it's right in my face.. anyway, it was the talk on inspired truth, vs. inspired falsehoods.
he went through 6 expressions inspired by the demons.

A relative and friend of mine is turning the monumental "60" in 3 weeks. He has "studied" with the JWs since childhood, but never became a baptised member. Something is holding him back . . . . (vocal/apostate me?). He does go to the KH about once every 3 months, after a visit from those "Friends."
We have alot of mutual friends, and he's made it known that he's turning 60. So, everyone wants to know "when?" the birthday party is going to be. We're planning a surprise birthday over a supposed fishing trip.
I am thinking of having:
1) 20 of our closest, worldly friends
2) cupcakes instead of a birthday cake, or do I do the whole damn birthday cake?
3) do we sing Happy Birthday or another song?
Kind of like Christmas, where it's gift giving without and generic wrapping.
Any suggestions or thoughts on how to do this? This person isn't a model JW. Has gone to Halloween parties, gambles, drinks, etc. The guilt consumes him, and then he goes to a KH. I don't say anything much about the religion, as he'll start defending it.

JW Middle Schoolers vs Non JW Middle Schoolers - what was your middle/high school experience?
by Julia Orwell ini'm a secondary school teacher and i've spent a lot of time at school this year since i've left jws simply observing student dynamics.
i do a lot of playground duty and have the opportunity to observe the kids at play and in the classroom.
i've especially had the opportunity to observe middle school kids, that is, kids between 12 and 15 in my state.. my observations of these 'worldly' children are:.
