Personality Disorders Attracted to JWism

are there personality disorders that find the watchtower an appealing fit?

i have read it before that people with personality issues are attracted to extreme religions, and that extreme religions can make a "normal" person mentallly ill. .

to start off with, i was reading about obsessive-compulsive disorders and this "profile" seemed like the "normal" jws i know:.

Point taken. I am dealing with someone who, I think, has an Obsessive Compulisve Disorder. This person came into the Truth, not born in, and the OCD-like illness just set him up to be "perfectly" JW. Now, that the OCD is mushrooming out of control, the JWs in his life are blaming him for not being Christian-like enough (i.e. leaving it in Jehovah's hands, turning other cheek, etc.) But, I don't think the other JWs around him see that his OCD is what brought him into being a JW and what gives him issues on compulsively thinking/acting things out.

As I am reading on OCD, I see that pedophiles have OCD type obsessions with child pornography & child sex. We all know that the JWs don't harbor pedophiles, NOT!

Shoot, I am always thinking, "What's wrong with me?" Especially whenever I speak about my JW past to non-JWs. One time, I was asked to tell a large group. As I was giving my speech, I kept thinking, "They must think I'm looney-tuney." i was relieved when a few people came up to meet me. One said, "You are not crazy, you are a survivor."

I am interested in knowing if you know of other personality type disorders that "fit" with the JWs.

You are coming across as if you are above his writing style. I just hate the way people like you get on here to bash others who put forth effort to write something that others might find worthwhile. He put his neck out, so you're just going to try to chop it off today.

There are two ways to pull yourself up, and one way is to push others down. That's how I read your post today.

Sometimes, people may not use the prose you prefer. But, should that discredit their message and become a base for which you use to diss their work all the while elevating yourself to being a literary master?

There are a few jobs that have titles that follow a person around. Captain, Doctor, Professor . . people on and off the job will refer to these people as "Captain Stewart" "Dr. Schwartz". Their identity becomes entwined with their title. I don't see it unusual for a pilot to call himself Captain alot. Everyone around him does. And, my God, a Captain that is a little into himself! My God! They were not like that on any movie I ever saw! Airplane? Top Gun? Captains got balls, my friend.

I sat on a plane from the West Coast last month, next to a Captain going to Delta's training center in Atlanta. Very nice man. A little bit arrogant, the type that can sweet talk any chick he wanted. I want him as my captain. Willing to take a chance, guts to face a bad situation, but seemed to know methodology, calculating, and careful. We talked about the Asiana crash, as it just happened. He used good English, but I wouldn't expect him to be a Master at publishing. I don't want some dweeb that can write super well flying my plane through a thunderstorm. Get it?

I think it's unusual to have a Captain as a JW. I never knew one. Knew janitors, floor cleaners, and real estate agents. But, not captains.

I hope all the flack over him being a captain is becuase someone is jealous . . . . No one here ever bashes someone out of jealousy, do they?

Usually, captains learn to fly in the military. So, that rules out alot of men who would become JWs. Now, I wonder how as a Captain in an airline - that's not a regular job that allows one to be off every two weeknights, every Sunday, and most Saturday mornings for service and meetings. Wonder if the JWs gave him hell about that.

I'll read it. I am not threatened by a captain. But, if you all can't handle it, then please shut up. Cuz, your attitude stinks of a green eyed monster.

i imagine that a captain who was also a JW, gathered alot of attention at the KH. We had a doctor in our Kingdom Hall, and he was an infallible elder. Yeah, I'll read this book.

I wonder if as a Captain, he ever saw a UFO?

Heart bypass surgery & blood

my father had an angioplasty this morning and was admitted immediately for coronary artery bypass surgery due to major blockages found.. how likely or necessary is a blood transfusion for this?.

what's the latest policy on blood?.

i realize there's likely a thread or two dedicated to the subject but i'm looking for the short answer from those in the know, at least on the latter.. i only found out this morning and am heading to the hospital now.

He can get hemoglobin. it is the part of blood that transports oxygen. It is, basically, the insides of a red blood cell. It is under the names Biopure and Hemopure. His doctors have to contact those companies and they might let the medicine go out under compassionat use as these are not FDA approved.

He can have all "fractions" of blood. Fractions are a WTS defined term that medical doctors do not know. If added together, all the fractions would equal a whole unit of blood from which they were derived. Fractions include hemoglobin, cryopreciptate, cryosupernatate, clotting factors, albumin, Factor VII, etc., etc., etc. . . . . basically, if it is blood derived, it can be had.
