I liked commenting! I was a good little school kid, and did well in school. Answering a question or two at the meetings was easy. The correct answer was right above. It was easier than schoolwork. And, my mom always smiled when I did answer. Theocratic school was a breeze too. Everything was laid out for you. No thinking needed. But, door to door I HATED. Was scared that I'd see a schoolmate. And, then I realized that the lessons were very flawed. Not only did I not answer, I stopped attending at about 16 years old.

Commenting At The Meetings---Did You Enjoy It?
by minimus inwas that important for you?
most people, i believe, forced themselves to give an answer.
i knew many elders and servants over the years being counseled because they rarely answered.. funny thing....my mom who is 88 cries if she doesn't give a comment.

It's hot over there right now. And, when it's hot, tempers get shorter.
Look at Ireland and England. Not the same country, but they are pracitally the same. Needless, terrible bombing in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Best thing about September 11th, is that Ireland and England calmed down. What's that Beth Midler song, "God is watching us . . . from a distance. . . we all look the same." I'm not sure of all the politics, but it seems that they (Irish Rebel Forces) realized it was silly to bomb.
It seems that the people we are closest to is who we pick fights with. You should live in my neighborhood! Neighbors fighting with neighbors over stupid sh*t.

most important event in the 20th century
by scotoma injune 28 1914 archduke ferdinand was killed by a serbian government sponsored assassination team.. this was the trigger event of world war i. actually some have called it world war (part 1) followed less than 30 years later by world war (part 2).. in retrospect this was a useful date for jw's.. it has propelled them for 100 years.. of course jw's have massaged their predictions about the significance of 1914 over the years.. do you feel that jw's would be what they are today without that great war?
do you think that the shooting down of the passenger plane over east ukraine will be an equivalent moment that pushes putin into a corner where he will have to fight the west?
in other words will we look back on that event as the beginning of world war (part 3)?.

The most improtant thing of the 20th century wasn't a single event. It was a series of inventions that bound the world through instant international communication. The world became alot smaller.
- Radio
- TV
- Cable & 24 hour news & Satellites, in particular
- Computer & Internet
- Cell phones
- Social Media

A. A sheet.
Seriously now . . . If your enemies are fighting each other, never intervene.

Why Do JWs Think Bankruptcy Is Not Wrong? Does Pioneering Blot out Theft?
by BucketShopBill ini mentioned a few elders on one of the highest viewed judicial committee videos filed bk, one of them has done it 3 times and feels no remorse!
my post is not to attack people who really need to avail themselves of a legal process because bad things happen to good people.
the economic climate had and can change radically!

How do I say this politely.
Chronic overspending that spans years, decades, cycles . . . can be a symptom of a deeper cause.
It can be linked to bipolar/manic-depression.
http://psychcentral.com/lib/spending-sprees-in-bipolar-disorder/0003295
A normal person will overspend a little occasionally, and will feel remorse and make corrections.
A bi-polar person overspends ALOT throughout the decades, and then will blame others for their overspending/financial situation and/or yells, screams, and gets defensive when asked to be financially responsible. (I know 2 people that are just like this). Then, no one will hear from them for a few months. Then, they go shopping . . . again!
However, many times the person has an entitlement personality, and no depression. They simply believe that they are entitled to their sacred cows, at all costs. They are the opposite of a humble, honest person. They are dishonest with themselves in convincing themselves they can afford something they can't, and with others when they claim bankrupcty and cheat their way out of it by not working. (I know a person that is just like this, too). I have seen these people then try to extract money from others. All of a sudden, a quid-pro-quo deal turns into the person wanting to get paid but doing no more in return. Or, they promise your money to themselves. I had a very large jar of change, and my entitlement person asked to have it 'for a needy person'. Later reported that my change jar had several hundred dollars in it. The needy person was given $100, and the rest went to the entitlement person for something they 'needed.'
Either way, watch your purse around these types of people. They will overstep boundaries and then try to turn you into the witch in the end.

Need a Game Plan
by bafh ini'm not sure what is going on at the convention, but i just got a desperate call from a friend wanting me to attend sunday's morning session.
last weekend, my mom invited me too.instead of saying something like, "i'm sorry, but i have no intention of going back," and having them completely freak out - i agreed to go to the sunday morning session.
any recommendations?

OP wrote, "I agreed to go to the Sunday morning session."
So, you should honor your word and go to the convention in the morning. Take separate transportation. When it ends, say, "Thanks for inviting me It shows you care for me. I heard nothing new that I haven't heard before.(Or, if it is new, like New Light's Overlapping Generation Change . . . then discuss that briefly. 'I was stunned to see the New Light. It seems the Generation Teaching has changed alot, again. I don't think the Society knows what it is doing on that one."') I have plans for the afternoon. I'm going to (x). Would you like to join me?"
Next time they ask you to attend a meeting (which will be coming), then you are going to have to deal with it.
