What did she mean by that?
by rhian ini'm new here...this is my first post.
last month i disassociated myself from the wts.
one of the student workers at the community college where i work is a seriously unquestioning jw; a sweet woman but totally brainwashed.. knowing she would find out soon, i took her aside and told her of my decision.

She thinks that ALL the people who leave do so out of being bad, stupid, bullheaded, etc.
She doesn't realize that it's the SMARTEST of the group that tend to leave.

Quick survey for apostates - please everyone just yes or no answer
by slimboyfat indo the other witnesses with whom you associate/once associated in general know that you are an apostate or have apostate inclinations?
the reason for the phrase "in general" is that it may be the case that one or two close friends know how you feel, but others in general do not.
in my own case, one other witness knows, but no one else, so i would answer the survey question with a "no".

SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT re: Riley Trust Tobacco Compan Stock & WTS
by Oroborus21 ini have no interest in pontificating on this matter which to me seems so straightforward.
however, since i continue to see newbies and others periodically post in error stating that the wts "owns" tobacco company stock i believe that this should be corrected and the matter put to rest, hopefully for good.. .
facts:.

In trust law, the recipient has the RIGHT to REFUSE to accept the trust's distributions of income or principal. The fact is that the WTS did NOT REFUSE to accept the trust's distributions. Instead, they TOOK the gift of the trust's distributions that was generated from a COMPANY whose MAIN BUSINESS LINE was morally reprehensible to the Watchtower’s TEACHINGS. The WTS crammed down all of our throats to NOT BE INVOLVED with companies that profited from SELLING CIGARETTES, BOMBS, etc. We had to quit our jobs. So, why should the WTS have been allowed to take cash distributions from a pool of assets which included this company? Double standard.
The WTS should have reviewed the trust's assets....just like they should have reviewed their U.N. library card. Perhaps the WTS lawyers who help the followers with their wills & estate plans will put a provision to alert the trustees on what to invest in.

Do not get obsessed with this board. I was...until I put an automatic internet lock at night. I need my rest. Rome, was not built in a day.

Like all copyrighted material, we are allowed to make "fair use" of it - taking short clips and adding your own commentary. Sorry, but you are just not allowed to copy/post in its entirety.
The WTS is tying to plug the damn. But, as soon as they stop one site, ten more will pop up in another country or on someone's own webserver.
The information contained in the WTS materials is invaluable to those who need them. There are lawyers, doctors, divorcing parents, people writing books, etc. who need them. We need to designate a reliable personal or public libraries who will keep these materials in a central location and available for all to use. Public libraries will copy pages, and send them to you anywhere in the country if you pay a fee for their expenses. The only downside with public libraries are that the WTS will try to steal them out of the shelves - theocratic warfare. A personal library would be better . . . as long as we really trust the person to keep these things in good repair.
People on this site post that they are "throwing away my mom's/dad's/my books." Please, please, please do not throw them away. Hold onto them, until we figure out what to do with them.

I beg your pardon, but your breast is in my eye!!!
by Scully inok, so i'm at the dentist this afternoon - nothing major, just something i've been putting off for a while - and the dental assistant is doing her thing with my teeth - my mouth is wired open (i think i was able to tune into radio transmissions for a while) - and i've got my eyes closed, my glasses off, trying to relax in the chair, while listening to the piped in muzak.. suddenly, i can tell she's really getting into her work - she's leaning against my face and getting quite vigorous about whatever she's doing to my tooth.
then it dawned on me.... ummm... hello.... your breast is in my eye!!!
except my mouth is frozen and wired so that all that's coming out is unintelligible garble... and drool (from being wired open, not because it's the least bit "interesting").. so i'm thinking to myself, if i push her away from my face, she looks the type that would clock me for sexually harassing her... if i say anything to her about it, she'll be embarrassed and might screw up my tooth... if i wait a couple more minutes, she'll be done and i might have an interesting story to share with mr scully... finally, it occurs to me that they said i could give them a signal to stop what they are doing.

I had a dentist and his assistant who hated each other. They fought while each had sharp objects in my mouth.

New Lawsuit: Roe v. Wade for Men
by Elsewhere inhttp://www.cnn.com/2006/law/03/08/fatherhood.suit.ap/index.html.
men want 'say' in unplanned pregnancyactivists seek right to decline financial responsibility for kids.
new york (ap) -- contending that women have more options than they do in the event of an unintended pregnancy, men's rights activists are mounting a long shot legal campaign aimed at giving them the chance to opt out of financial responsibility for raising a child.. the national center for men has prepared a lawsuit -- nicknamed roe v. wade for men -- to be filed thursday in u.s. district court in michigan on behalf of a 25-year-old computer programmer ordered to pay child support for his ex-girlfriend's daughter.. the suit addresses the issue of male reproductive rights, contending that lack of such rights violates the u.s. constitution's equal protection clause.. the gist of the argument: if a pregnant woman can choose among abortion, adoption or raising a child, a man involved in an unintended pregnancy should have the choice of declining the financial responsibilities of fatherhood.

I think that both men and women are both emotionally and financially tied to a child. But, all too often where the man doesn't have the monetary or mental capabilities, he usually runs away. Where the woman is lacking in monetary capabilities, she sticks it out. Why? Mothers are usually bonded to their children.
Why didn't they use protection? Why did they hop into bed with someone who they were not committed to? Provided neither is a physically or mentally abusive individual, I think both have a right and a responsibility to make decisions to further the interests of the child. If they can not, then the law does try to make it equal. Paternal fathers have to support their children (and it's usually based on income levels)- but they turn into deadbeat dads too often. As any divorced parent knows, child support has NOTHING to do with visitation rights. Even if fathers are broke or are not paying, they CAN see their child. But, fathers with past due support obligations run away from the children. Perhaps the fathers are too embarrassed & can not show their face (or drive their new truck to take the kids to the father's new house with his new wife) to pick up the child who ate "beans" the night before, slept without air conditioning the night before, listening to their mother cry about where the next rent/day care check was going to come from. If we tied some of the professional licenses & driver's license to child support - we'd see more men paying. If a man pays, he has his "ego" and will show his face more often to the kid.On the other hand, I know men in tears when they find out their ex-woman has a new man who will be acting as the parent to their children. The hurt . . . pain is unsurmountable.
I think this is a sick world, where our laws give more protection to an eagle's nest, then to a developing human or a growing child. Too many abortions used as contraception. Many women have abortions, not because they do not love that child, but because they know the financial & lifestyle hardship they will endure alone, without the help of the father. Too many absent parents, too many deadbeat dads.
In France, the State puts its money towards single mothers. Ever see a single US mom be a "stay at home" mom with her kids? Women's equality was great for some things, but sucks for others.
