i was talking with a traditional catholic friend, who was up in arms that in some third world countries (allegedly) people are being given aid only if they agree not to have any more children.. "how can anybody do this?
having children is their right.".
in a world that is already being catastrophically damaged in air earth and water by a burgeoning population, is it correct to insist on this?

yesterday was my crappy birthday, http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/20/127389/1.ashx and while the evening went along, i realized something.
i've been out of the watchtower for about 6 years now and i still don't enjoy the holidays or my birthday.
i can't recall one time saying to myself, "wow, that was so much fun.
I will wait & answer after the credit card bills arrive.....
in montreal, canada in late dec. jean-claude lavoie refused a blood transfusion and died.
his decision has split his family apart--the father respecting his son's decision.
his brother, jonathan, a former jehovah's witness has since launched an internet campaign calling on the government to make it illegal for a person to refuse blood transfusions on religious grounds.
I think adult individuals have a right to believe in anything they want to, as long as it doesn't hurt another person (such as child pornography would hurt another person). Each adult person has a right to determine his/her own medical decisions. If I want to die wearing purple slippers, that is my wish. If I do not want chemotherapy, that is my wish. Respect it.
That being said, I think a religion should also be held accountable for how it teaches. If it lies about secular facts in order to bolster a beleif that is life-threatening, then it should be held accountable for the lies. If the religion uses "this world" type fear (i.e. not hell-fire which is "next world") to hold people onto a beleif (I'm talking about shunning by family & business associates, tattletelling, etc), then the religion is, actually, thwarting the freedom of followers to leave the religion. The religion should be held accountable for interfering with the followers freedom to worship, and to leave.

Orthodox Christianity is strong in these countries, as is the socialist view that the government is a protector ofthe family. The JWs and outsiders are viewed with caution to begin with, add to that the JWs "we are right, you are wrong" attitude, there will be trouble. For example, Bulgaria's Constiuttion reads in part http://www.oefre.unibe.ch/law/icl/bu00000_.html :
Article 12 [Citizens' Associations]
(1) The associations of citizens shall serve to meet and safeguard their interests.
(2) Citizens' associations, including the trade unions, shall not pursue any political objectives, nor shall they engage in any political activity which is in the domain of the political parties.
Article 13 [Religion]
(1) The practicing of any religion is free.
(2) The religious institutions shall be separate from the state.
(3) Eastern Orthodox Christianity is considered the traditional religion in the Republic of Bulgaria.
(4) Religious institutions and communities and religious beliefs shall not be used to political ends.
Article 14 [Family]
The family, motherhood, and childhood shall enjoy the protection of the state and society.
canada's first sextuplets were born to jehovah's witness parents.
they were born at 25 weeks (not 40 weeks as is common with full-term).
due to their prematurity, they will most likely need blood transfusions.
The media sounds mad that they are not allowed access to the parents.
I think privacy should be respected. This is an emotional, roller coaster ride for the parents. Not only is the mother likely going through post-partum changes (hormonal too), the family is probably is shock/awe/scared about the newborn's health. Add to the top of that that a prominent elder "is dying to know who they are" (i.e. for disfellowshipping/shunning as the parents are not adamantly touting the JW "no blood" policy. I wonder if the elders have their henchmen/women in the hospital trying to figure out if the babies have had a transfusion. I was in this family's shoes, I'd want privacy too. Public assistance or not, healthcare is and should be a private concern.
i found the following at http://www.energeticsolutions.com.au/great_watchtower_deception.html were we hypnotised?
has me wondering...... .
at this particular meeting, the leader of the congregation began reading a story about health, and as i have a great interest in this subject, i sat up and took notice and what i observed about the jehovah's witness teaching method, shocked me to the core and immediately enabled me to understand why my friend had such a blind zombie-like interest in accepting anything watchtower was teaching her, even if it meant that she would have to make her children commit suicide, before allowing dotors to give them a blood transfusion, to save their lives.

It is completely impossible to instill a fear in a woman's mind that would make her cause her own children to commit suicide, in preference to receiving a blood-transfusion to save their lives, without the use of precise advanced clinical hypnosis!
What I observed that day, made me absolutely speechless for several hours as I did my best to figure out in my mind, if there was any possible way that I could be mistaken about what I had observed. I literally could not focus on anything else for several days, as my mind was in turmoil over this shocking realisation.
I guess before I explain how Sigmund Freud's clinical hypnosis works, I should describe how the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society has designed the Jehovah's Witness meetings to be run, and I might add that Watchtower leaders insist that the meetings must not vary from the "exact" format they have designed into the study booklets that Watchtower supplies to every Witness Hall worldwide, every month. This ensures that the hypnotic affect is ongoing year-after-year and I believe this hypnosis principal was introduced to the Jehovah's Witness movement by a psychologist, Judge Joseph Rutherford, who took over management of the Watchtower organisation from Charles T. Russell around 1914 just after Sigmund Frued and Joseph Breuer toured America delivering seminars and lectures on hypnosis to overcome phobias and for advertising in business. Read more about Joseph Rutherford's story. --- Yet to be added to this page.
A Comparrison Between A Jehovah's Witness Meeting
And A Clinical Hypnosis Session
The Compere, the Narrator and the Usher All Jehovah's Witness meetings have a compere who stands in the centre of the stage and reads a special weekly study story, paragraph-by-paragraph, from a Watchtower study magazine supplied from Watchtower head office in America. Then they have a narrator who sits off to one side of the stage, to read the scripture from a bible which Watchtower have written into the study story at the end of each paragraph being read by the compere. After the compere and narrator have finished interacting to read a paragraph followed by a scripture, then another paragraph followed by another scripture, etc, etc, when the study story is completely finished, which takes around twenty to thirty minutes, an usher walks up the isle amongst the congregation with a microphone on a long pole that allows him to reach it in amongst the congregation so members of the congregation can speak into the michrophone to give their answers to the compere, as he reads out a list of questions that Watchtower have written in the study magazine, at the end of the story.
What shocked me to the core, was that while listening to what was being read out and observing what the compere, the narrator and the usher were doing, it suddenly hit me like a brick to the back of the head, that this method of teaching is what Sigmund Freud taught in the early nineteen hundreds as "Conscious Hypnosis". (I assure you, this is not just simple brainwashing, it is advanced clinical hypnosis which, in time, has the ability to completely take over a person's free-will and mental judgment and reasoning skills and turn that person into a totally non-thinking zombie-like robot who will do anything they are told to do, even if they are told to commit suicide.
This principal of hypnosis is similar and is, over time, just as mentally overpowering as the one used by television hypnotists who make people selected for the show, believe they are a chook, a dog, an elephant or something that makes them act absolutely rediculous in front of the viewing audience, in order to show how completely overpowering hypnosis can be. Even though people who are not dedicated to the Jehovah's Witness movement, can see that the blood scriptures only relate to not "eating" blood and that refusing a blood transfusion to save your own life, is absolutely rediculous, Jehovah's Witnesses are just as oblivious as the people who carry on like a chook, a dog or an elephant, on television, for all to see.)
Freud's Four Rules Of Clinical Hypnosis
Let me explain how Freud's principal of Clinical "Conscious Hypnosis" works so you can compare it with how Watchtower has designed the Jehovah's Witness meetings to be run.
The story I originally read on Freud's Conscious Hypnosis, explained that in order to affect the unconscious mind so severely that the mind can fully block off to pain, for example: hypnosis used before a surgical operation as a pain suppressant, instead of using anaesthetic, due to the patient being allergic to anaesthetic, or to program the mind to completely block off fears that create phobias of spiders and heights etc, it is essential to use the following four rules of hypnosis, all at the same time.
NOTICE It is my opinion, people who have lost a family member who became a Jehovah's
Witness and died because they refused a blood transfusion, could take the Watchtower organisation
to court and sue them if they are in fact using hypnosis on purpose, to create the fear that caused the death
of their loved-one. Any psychologist who has studied hypnosis will confirm that the format of a Jehovah's Witness meeting, as I have just described it, is designed "exactly" the same as Freud's conscious hypnosis, thus giving
a very strong foundation for a lawsuit. The least that could be done, is to put a stop to Watchtower designing
their meetings and home study sessions around the format of a clinical hypnosis session.
i used this line of reasonong with my jw mom with limited sucess.
the scriptures:.
genesis 3:3 you must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden , and you must not touch it, or you will die.. genesis 9:4 but you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it .. me "jehovah says you must not eat blood, period.
Excellent argument, dude!
with the recent birth of a jw sextuplet "litter" .

possible need for blood transfusions clashes with jehovah's witness belief.
Steve,
I have a strong suspicion that no one OUTSIDE the Watchtower Society takes their comments seriously. The whole medical community is laughing at the erythropoietin comments, as doctors know it does not work quickly & is not well suited for premies. The whole medical community knows that the chances are 50/50 for these babies, WITH a blood transfusion.
However, you are right that the Society will turn this around and try to cover its wolfish ways to the flock. The flock will buy the "transfusions are bad", lock, stock, and barrell.

THIS IS BIG NEWS!!!!!! As Ms. Anderson said, it's what we do with our knowledge that makes a change.
Our version of the "Truth" is getting out there! Not only can we write and save 6 little babies, we can help change the witless "no blood" doctrine that puts the flock at grave risk. Perhaps some of the flock will read this, and ask questions.

Even if the law steps in to save these babies, we still need to continue contact with the media. The Watchtower Society's spokespeople are getting far too many opportunity to talk to the media about their side. To keep the news, "fair & balanced", the ex-witness side needs to be heard. The problems within the blood policy needs to be brought to the front.
